YYSHKMy mum and I stayed here for four days during our visit to Yangshuo, and I can honestly say I’ve never experienced anything quite like this hotel.
There are so many thoughtful touches that make it truly special. One of the standout features is the unlimited drinks service. You can order a range of delicious coffees and teas and have them delivered anywhere in the hotel. Every single one we tried was excellent.
Each evening between 9:30-11:30pm, the hotel offers complimentary healthy snacks delivered straight to your room, which was such a lovely touch. Also, mini fridge is also fully stocked and completely free, with a great selection of drinks.
Housekeeping is exceptional! They clean your room twice a day and even message you in advance to arrange times that suit you, ensuring you’re never disturbed.
We were also treated to a complimentary afternoon tea one day, along with fruit and cakes brought up to our room. Another unique feature was the cosmetic fridge, stocked with face masks, hand masks, makeup remover, hand cream, and other beauty items, all included as part of the stay. They also provide extras like wet wipes, rain covers, laundry bags, and eye masks, which really shows their attention to detail.
Breakfast each morning was incredible. Everything is freshly prepared, and you can order as much as you like from both the Western and local menu.
The heated pool, with its beautiful views, made it the perfect place to relax.
Honestly, one of the most memorable parts of our trip to Guilin was this hotel. The rooms are stunning, the location is ideal, and the service is truly exceptional. I can’t recommend Tong Hotel highly enough, thank you for such a wonderful stay!

GGuest UserI absolutely adored the little animals at the hotel! I originally booked the Banyan Tree, but I really didn't like its decor style, so I spontaneously switched to Jiu Rang, and it was a HUGE, huge surprise!!! I feel like the service is in the style of a Japanese hotel – polite, accommodating, but still giving guests a certain sense of privacy and space, which is so important. I haven't stayed in a more satisfying hotel at a similar price point in China.
I only stayed in Yangshuo for a short time, just five nights at Jiu Rang, but I could feel their utmost effort to make guests comfortable. I think only small-scale hotels (with fewer rooms) can achieve this level of service.
First, the fresh flowers. I didn't pay much attention to the flowers for the first three days, and when I finally noticed them, they were a bit wilted. After I mentioned it to the butler, they sent over a big bouquet of fresh flowers (P3). And here's something detail-oriented people will definitely love! For the afternoon tea, I usually left the strawberry leaves aside. The second time I had afternoon tea, the strawberry leaves had already been removed (P2)! You can tell they pay attention and improve! Also, the mini-bar and snacks are replenished daily. I only drank two fruit drinks from the mini-bar, and when they restocked, they replaced the flavors I had finished and added new ones. Kudos to the housekeeping auntie!
Ordering takeout was a little inconvenient; some restaurants didn't deliver, and those that did would leave it at the hotel entrance. Luckily, the butler would help bring it to my room door.
The cleanliness was absolutely superb. They never touched any of my belongings (the previous luxury brand hotel I stayed at would fold my clothes, which I found quite intrusive… this place didn't do that).
The last picture shows the view from the room – there's a heart-shaped mountain, haha, though it wasn't very clear due to the fog. You can usually spot it though.
I think it's perfect for people who value privacy and quiet. In short, if I ever come back to Yangshuo, I will only choose this hotel☺️💕

DdyhxThe hotel is situated in a town, 福利镇 that's a further distance from central Yangshuo but truly a class of its own.
The service is impeccable (already been corresponding with them via Wechat to make arrangements, they could also help to book attraction tickets), the views are amazing, it's as if the hotel is built within a big garden. The room is huge and comfy! With a full floor to ceiling sliding door, one gets a lovely view of the hills. Falling asleep to a view like this and waking up to a view like this, this is the kind of place you want to spend a weekend away from the city buzz and do nothing but laze in bed feeling pampered.
I had a twin room but each bed is a queen size and good for 4 pax to share. The room rate also included several items such as two-way transport (to and fro West Street or other locations within the city), two-way boat ride, a 1 hr photoshoot (outsourced function, advance appointment required), a local Afternoon Tea, daily breakfast and a traditional fan-drawing experience. The bathroom is huge, with a bathtub, a separate standing shower and toilet. All amenities are provided including a coffee machine. I like that the bed is firm and pillow gives great support, best pillow so far! I also like that the wardrobe is an open concept. The only area of improvement is probably the security, anyone is able to take the lift to the rooms directly.
The breakfast is simple but interesting that they offer you to create your own Guilin Mifen, a local noodle specialty.

GGuest UserOur trip to Yangshuo led us to choose the Julong Xiaozhen Resort Hotel, and our stay truly exceeded expectations – it was incredibly comfortable!
We booked a mountain view room, and the floor-to-ceiling windows offered an amazing panorama, directly overlooking the karst mountains and rural scenery. We could just lie in bed and soak in the beautiful landscapes. Waking up to the sunshine and mountain views, surrounded by lush greenery, was incredibly therapeutic – a completely immersive experience close to nature.
The 'Sky Mirror' on the top floor is a must-visit photo spot! You can overlook the entire Ten-Mile Gallery (Shili Hualang) from there, with mountains all around and a stunning blend of water and sky. Every picture taken there turns out beautifully. The lawn pool on the first floor is clean and inviting, creating a perfect vacation vibe; there's also a children's play area, making it very convenient for families traveling with kids.
The dining was also a huge plus. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety, the afternoon tea was exquisite and delicious, and they even had comforting late-night noodles. All three meals were thoroughly enjoyable.
The hotel's location is perfect, very close to the Yulong River and the Ten-Mile Gallery. There's a pastoral path right behind the hotel, making evening strolls to watch the sunset incredibly relaxing. The overall environment is quiet and comfortable.
The staff were exceptionally friendly, providing thoughtful and attentive service, and the room was kept spotlessly clean. This hotel is suitable for couples, friends, or family vacations. I genuinely recommend this place when visiting Yangshuo; I'll definitely stay here again next time!

NNoah Haas SilvermanThe Sugar House Yangshuo is, without question, one of the most visually striking and thoughtfully designed properties in the China. The architecture and restoration of the former sugar mill are exceptional, blending industrial heritage with modernism in a way that feels both unique and intentional. The grounds are immaculate, the setting along the Li River is serene, and the overall atmosphere is refined and memorable. From a “hard product” perspective, it stands out as one of the best boutique properties in China.
That said, at its price point, the experience falls short of what would be expected from a true luxury hotel, largely due to service inconsistencies and operational gaps.
One recurring issue was the presence of outside visitors or tour groups entering the property to take photos. At times this became disruptive, with noise and even instances of people taking photos toward our private balcony. For a hotel positioning itself at the luxury level, access control and guest privacy should be much tighter.
Service, particularly in the restaurant, was uneven. Breakfast service was noticeably slow, with insufficient staff during peak periods. Similarly, room service lacked attention to detail, for example, beers were delivered warm, which should not happen at this level.
More concerning was the lack of basic guest support from the front desk. When assistance was requested to order medicine, staff declined and instead suggested that we arrange it ourselves via *******. This is a simple concierge task that a hotel of this caliber should handle seamlessly.
The pool area is a missed opportunity. Although it looks great in photos (and we really appreciated the complimentary photo service), the pool is unheated, making it largely unusable outside of peak summer. There is no proactive service, guests must go inside to the bar to place orders, and there is no assistance with towels or general poolside service. The absence of a hot tub or accessible spa facilities further limits the leisure offering.
Additionally, while the hotel advertises a range of activities, availability was inconsistent. Rafting was said to be unavailable due to safety concerns, despite visible activity on the river, and attempts to arrange rock climbing were unsuccessful without alternative suggestions being provided. A very nice DJ both is in the bar, but in our three nights over a weekend, no music was played. This creates a gap between expectation and delivery.
In summary, the Sugar House Yangshuo excels in design, setting, and overall concept, and it remains a highly memorable place to stay. However, the service model and operational execution do not yet align with its pricing. At USD 300–400 per night, guests should expect a more polished, proactive, and guest-centric experience, something that many significantly cheaper hotels in China currently deliver more reliably.

GGuest UserWorth every penny! Choosing this hotel was an excellent decision, especially for a family trip with kids. The rooms are spacious, and the windows offer stunning views of the Yulong River and its picturesque landscape. The facilities are comprehensive, making our family stay very comfortable. What delighted the kids most was the hotel's swimming pool; they didn't even want to go out, preferring to just swim at the hotel. Even though the weather isn't hot yet, it couldn't dampen their love for playing in the water. The hotel management's service was also fantastic, even providing towels for the children while they were swimming. The breakfast at the restaurant was plentiful, and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it. The Basque cheesecake was delicious, and the coffee was pure. Dinner was also very good. Overall, we were extremely satisfied! Many spots at the hotel are perfect for photos, and every shot looks like it's from a magazine.

It was a bit of a shame that the Li River was quite murky during our visit, and the rain prevented us from hiking. GGuest UserRight by the Li River, with Guanlian Pier just downstairs, and West Street a few minutes' walk away – it's a quiet oasis amidst the hustle and bustle. Renting a scooter to explore the Ten-Mile Gallery and Yulong River was super convenient, making travel a breeze. I booked a river-view room, and the panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows framed the Li River landscape perfectly, like a painting! Watching the sunrise from bed and enjoying the sunset in the evening created an incredible atmosphere.
The网红 (internet-famous) Sky Mirror on the 9th floor is a must-visit! It offers an unobstructed 270° panoramic view of the Li River and the karst peaks – every shot looks like it's from a magazine.
Looks, location, comfort, and value for money – this place has it all! If you're coming to Yangshuo, just pick this hotel blindly. I stayed here and now I just want to keep coming back! Next time I'm in Yangshuo, I'll definitely stay at Shixi Tianyue again! Highly recommend! 👍

The owners were so kind and upgraded me to a room with a floor-to-ceiling window. As soon as I opened the door, the breathtaking scenery of Yangshuo's mountains and rivers came into view. It was truly refreshing and I fell in love with it instantly.
The entire hotel has a charming, ancient feel, and the environment is incredibly comfortable. The staff, both the guys and girls, were exceptionally friendly and made me feel immediately calm and relaxed. It’s perfect for a long stay or a meditation retreat. There's a viewing platform on the top floor, ideal for watching the sunrise and sunset.
The breakfast offers both Chinese and Western options. The rice noodles were delicious, and the nutritious congee was also very tasty. I highly recommend the hotel's homemade milk dates – wow, I just couldn't stop eating them! Especially with the surrounding mountains and rivers and soothing music, it even made me, someone who usually skips breakfast, have a huge appetite.
The room came with a foot-soaking tub and sleep-inducing foot bath sachets, along with roses and Liubao tea, creating a very artistic atmosphere. Oh, and the bedding was super comfortable, and there was a smart toilet. Everything was top-notch, and I was extremely satisfied.
The hotel's surroundings are excellent. If you turn left out the door, there's a small path where you can stroll along the Yulong River. A 20-minute walk takes you to Wanjing Wharf and Gongnong Bridge, which is very convenient.
Oh, and the owners are incredibly warm and friendly. They responded to every request instantly and even helped me receive a package. When I couldn't find a good spot to photograph the rapeseed flowers, they even guided me via video call. The service was truly exceptional.
It's been a long time since I traveled domestically, and honestly, both the accommodation and service here, as well as the price, completely blow the US out of the water. I'm going to have withdrawal symptoms after leaving Yangshuo!
A small anecdote at the end: this hotel was found using an AI tool, Gemini. AI truly didn't disappoint me, haha!

Mmmh_63After reading reviews and the hotel's description, we chose 'Poetry and Distant Lands' for our trip, and it truly lived up to its promises. We absolutely loved it! The environment is stunning, like being in a fairyland. The hotel's warm service, beautiful surroundings, and delicious breakfast, along with the exquisite afternoon tea delivered to our room daily, made our vacation incredibly enjoyable.
