JJuanjuan1119Living in a Song Dynasty poem amidst a landscape painting – I want to come back many, many times.
We came to Yangshuo after the May Day holiday to avoid the crowds and chose this Song cultural-themed B&B. We stayed for two days, and even our child was reluctant to leave.
🌿 Environment: The B&B is located right inside the Ten-Mile Gallery. Stepping through the courtyard gate is like entering an ink wash painting. The courtyard features black brick walls and gray tiles, a small bridge over flowing water, and a fish pond where our child happily fed the fish. Outside our room window, karst peaks offered a breathtaking view, especially when we opened the curtains in the morning.
🛎️ Service: The concierge created a group chat even before our arrival, sharing local guides and parking instructions. They helped us with our luggage upon arrival and were incredibly responsive throughout our stay. When we wanted to sit in the courtyard at night, the concierge thoughtfully lit mosquito coils for us.
🍳 Breakfast: Not a buffet, but an exquisite set meal. The Guilin rice noodles were absolutely delicious, with a fresh broth and generous toppings. There was also freshly ground soy milk, sweet potatoes, corn, fried eggs, and very fresh fruit. Our child finished an entire bowl of rice noodles.
🧹 Hygiene: Although our room wasn't large (we had a courtyard-view room), it was spotless, and the bedding smelled of sunshine. The bathroom had a dry/wet separation, and the towels were sterilized, giving us peace of mind. The public areas were also continuously cleaned and very tidy.
🎨 Lacquer Fan Experience: The lacquer fan activity was the most delightful surprise this time! The concierge prepared all the materials in advance. Our child chose their favorite colors, slowly dipped the fan into the water, and pulled it out to reveal a unique pattern. They ran around the courtyard, proudly holding their creation and calling it 'a gift for Mommy.' It was a very enjoyable and therapeutic activity for adults too.
🏹 Touhu (Pitch-Pot): There's a dedicated Touhu area in the courtyard, and we finally understood the joy of ancient games! It looks simple, but it's surprisingly hard to get the arrow in. Our whole family took turns playing, and we cheered loudly every time someone made a shot. Even my husband, who usually dislikes physical activities, became addicted. It's perfect for families or friends to enjoy together.
🍵 Afternoon Tea: Our package included a double afternoon tea, which we enjoyed in the courtyard. It featured Chinese pastries (mung bean cakes, osmanthus cakes), seasonal fruits, and a pot of fragrant osmanthus black tea. Sitting on bamboo chairs, feeling the breeze, and gazing at the distant mountains, that moment truly felt like life was beautiful.
📍 Other: We could even see stars in the courtyard at night, and the concierge mentioned that if we're lucky, we might see fireflies in the summer. Upon check-out, we received a souvenir – Guilin's specialty osmanthus cakes.
Overall, this stay completely exceeded our expectations. If you also appreciate a quiet B&B with cultural charm and plenty of fun, this place is truly worthwhile. Next time we visit Yangshuo, we'll definitely stay here again, and for more days.
