Hotels in Panlong District, Kunming

Kunming is a beautiful city, and the Senyue Hotel boasts a prime location, close to both the subway and bus stations, making getting around super convenient. The front desk and housekeeping staff are all very friendly and eager to help with any issues. The rooms are well-equipped, offering great value for money and an affordable stay.

The hotel's location is super convenient, really close to Cuihu Lake and the Military Academy – just a short taxi ride away. Plus, there are plenty of restaurants right downstairs, which is great for meals. I asked for a quiet room at check-in and they put me above the car park, so it was nice and quiet at night. I also thought the breakfast was excellent, with local Yunnan specialties like rice noodles and flower cakes.

This was my second stay at the Holiday Inn Kunming City Centre during this Yunnan trip. My first experience was quite good overall, and the hotel maintained the consistent service standards that Holiday Inn is known for, which is why I chose to stay here again. However, my second stay was a bit disappointing. Two specific details significantly impacted my experience: Firstly, breakfast. I ordered a fried egg, and it never arrived, even by the time breakfast was almost over. I reminded the staff several times, but it still didn't come, yet I saw some guests who arrived later than me receive theirs. This was a poor experience. Secondly, the parking issue. I arrived quite late the previous day and registered my license plate during check-in, thinking I could leave smoothly the next morning to catch my flight. However, when checking out in the morning, I found that my license plate hadn't been entered into the system, which caused some delays. Aside from these issues, the hotel's location, room cleanliness, overall environment, and facilities were all good, and the area is quite convenient. I hope they can optimize the details like breakfast service management and parking system entry in the future; it would make for a much more consistent overall experience.

The hotel is conveniently located near the main road, and the front desk is on Level 2. Just like many other hotels in China, they allow early check-in, which is one of my favorite things 😊. However, if you plan to visit Nanping Street, you'll need to book a Didi, as it is not within walking distance.

Great hotel!! The owner was very nice and welcoming, he even brought us laundry detergent for the machine when we wanted to use it. The house itself was decorated nicely and the fresh flowers were a nice touch and added a nice smell to the room. The heated bedding was great considering there is no heating/ AC in the room. The only thing I have to say are about the bathroom and the location. The bathroom is a bit outdated compared to the rest of the appt., no divide between the shower and the toilet, but water pressure is good. The location is not the best if you want to be close to the old city or the night street, around 30 mins walk

This was my first stay at this hotel, and I found it to be very luxurious. The room was large and spacious, making for a very comfortable stay. It's conveniently located near shopping, yet still quiet. The smart Xiao Du speaker for room control was a nice touch, and the shower pressure was excellent. They offer self-service laundry with both washers and dryers, though there are only three of each for all guests, which might not be enough during peak times. Overall, I had a comfortable stay, slept well, and found it to be great value for money.

Location: The hotel boasts an excellent location, right above a shopping mall with plenty of delicious food options nearby, and it's also very close to major attractions. Getting around is super convenient. Room: The room was comfortable and cozy. Service: Overall, the service was quite good. The front desk staff were very polite. Although there was a small hiccup during check-in, the front desk handled it very quickly once we brought it to their attention. Breakfast: The noodle station at breakfast offered a variety of local delicacies, and the taste was pretty good.

The facilities are complete, the stay was comfortable, and it was clean. The staff were warm and attentive. Although the room was near the road, it wasn't noisy at night. There are many delicious and affordable food options nearby. The walk from Baiyun Station on Metro Line 2 to the hotel is a bit far, but walking through the underground mall was cool and kept me out of the sun.

Kunming is a city that simply feels good. Nestled at an altitude of about 1900 meters, its climate is like spring year-round, earning it the nickname ”Spring City.” Even in late May, with bright sunshine during the day and a gentle breeze in the mornings and evenings, strolling through the streets is incredibly pleasant. If it's your first time in Kunming, one of my top recommendations is Cuihu Park (Green Lake Park). Cuihu isn't huge, but its water is crystal clear, and it's shaded by lush trees. Walking along the lake, you'll see elderly folks exercising, locals singing and dancing, and people simply lounging in the sun. There's no entrance fee, making it perfect for a leisurely stroll to soak in the Kunming way of life. However, it's worth noting that many visitors come for the seagulls. In fact, from around November to March each year, red-billed gulls from Siberia flock to Kunming for the winter. By May, they've already begun their journey back north, so you're unlikely to see any seagulls at Cuihu. If seeing the gulls is your main goal, I'd suggest visiting in winter. Even without the gulls, Cuihu is still well worth a visit. The blooming flowers along the lake, the quaint pavilions and ancient structures, and the rich cultural atmosphere all add to its charm. Especially in the evening, with the sunset reflecting on the lake and a gentle breeze, it takes on a truly unique and beautiful ambiance. For travel planning, I recommend combining Cuihu Park and Yunnan University into one day. These three attractions are very close to each other and easily reachable on foot. Start your morning at Cuihu, enjoy some Yunnan rice noodles or 'steam pot chicken' for lunch, then spend the afternoon visiting the Yunnan Military Academy and Yunnan University. It's a perfect day trip. If you have more time, you could also head to Nanqiang Street or Dounan Flower Market in the evening. Dounan Flower Market, in particular, is one of Asia's largest flower trading markets, and the incredibly affordable prices of various flowers are a pleasant surprise, making it definitely worth seeing. Kunming might not boast breathtaking grand landscapes, but it possesses a special charm. The sky is incredibly blue here, there are abundant flowers, and life moves at a leisurely pace. It doesn't feel like a tourist city eager to show off; instead, it's more like a gentle old friend, quietly accompanying you on walks, for tea, and soaking up the sun. And this comfort, more often than not, is far more memorable than any grand spectacle.

The room was quite spacious and comfortable, and the bed was very soft. Plus, there was a mini-fridge! When I checked in, the butler, a very friendly gentleman, helped me with my luggage and was very good at chatting. He also gave a detailed introduction to the room, even mentioning that the mattress was from Mousse. My room was well-arranged, and the family room had a lot of thoughtful touches. Just a side note, when I asked for a second room key, the butler, a lady, was quite firm and said it wasn't possible. After some discussion, she did give me a power card. If I go to the northern part of Kunming again, I'll definitely stay here.
