"We returned to the Wensleydale Hotel for a short break in January just after they had reopened after Christmas. The weather wasn’t the best but the warmth and ambiance of the hotel more than compensated. We ate two nights in their ‘Tackroom’ restaurant which was excellent. The new owner and his staff did a great job. Highly recommended."

"Location: Askrigg is like a warm hug - and not a drive-through (like Hawes), you feel instantly at peace, and there are two great pubs for dinner as well as the most brilliant bakery for sandwich to go (for your walks). House: Barry knows everything of value about the area and what’s (actually) going on geologically, topologically or peoplenonlogically. Rooms: Stunningly beautiful and wildly spacious with Super King sized bed which is really comfortable for Size Large people like us who (like to) take up space. This village is completely quiet at night, so even if your view is of the beautiful village, you will have a solid sleep. Breakfast: Freshly cooked and superior. Served by Barry."

"The location was great for a walk around Kilburn White Horse. We parked at the pub, walked up to the White Horse, then returned for drinks by the fire and a meal. The rooms were clean, the bed was huge and comfortable, and the village was peaceful and quiet. We stayed between Christmas & New Year."
