"I stayed at Albergo Moderno for a short trip to Modena. It’s a simple, no-frills hotel rather than a luxury stay, but for the price it does the job well. The location on Via Giuseppe Campi is outside the historic center, so it’s best if you have a car or don’t mind using buses/taxis to get into the main part of town. On the plus side, it felt quieter and less touristy than staying right in the center. The room was modest but clean and functional. The bed was comfortable enough, the Wi-Fi worked, and the bathroom was small but perfectly usable. Staff were friendly and helpful when I needed directions or information. Breakfast was basic Italian-style — coffee, pastries, and a few other options — but adequate to start the day. Overall, Albergo Moderno is a moderate, good-value choice if you’re watching your budget and just need a clean, convenient place to sleep. Don’t expect anything fancy, but if you set your expectations accordingly, it’s a reasonable stay in Modena. I’d consider it again for a short, low-cost visit."

"A very strange hotel. When I arrived in 40 degree heat I was given a room that bore a strong resemblance to a sauna. I tried to turn the aircon on and it didn’t work, nor did the lights- in fact there was no electricity in the room at all. I returned to reception and explained there was no electricity and the receptionist said’I know’! However she then offered me a different room which was perfectly fine and with very good air con. A slightly surreal experience."
