We stayed on the 12th floor, in a room close to the elevator. The room was spotless and the bedding smelled fresh and clean, not damp at all. The housekeeping lady on our floor was incredibly kind; every time she saw me, she'd ask if I needed water or tissues and told me not to hesitate to ask for anything. She was so thoughtful and efficient. My younger son and I shared a room, and one evening he accidentally locked himself out of the bathroom. The front desk immediately sent a technician up to open the door. The technician even showed me how he unlocked it with his tools! 🤭🤭 My last visit to Shanghai was at the end of September last year, when I stayed at the Old Jinjiang. This time, I decided to try the New Jinjiang. Overall, they're quite similar. Both are classic, well-established hotels that I'd recommend trying!

Great location! However, aside from the lobby, the hotel's facilities are quite old. The rooms are clean and tidy, service is prompt, and the staff are courteous. That said, the service quality among front desk staff varies. The male receptionist during check-in was serious-faced throughout, offered no smiles or greetings, while the concierge was even worse! The male receptionist during check-out was much better – smiling, proactive with greetings, and polite goodbyes. For a supposed four-star hotel, the service quality is a bit lacking. Even though star-rating reassessments have somewhat downplayed service in recent years, I'd suggest HR and quality control conduct some mystery shopper visits and step up training. Otherwise, even in peak season, room rates won't compete with mid-range chains.

I stayed here for four nights and five days, and the front desk arranged a king-size room for me on the 12th floor. The room was well-equipped and airy, and I particularly liked that it had two windows that could open. It was clean and hygienic, and the cleaning staff were incredibly friendly and provided excellent, courteous service. I especially enjoyed the Western restaurant in the lobby and the historical museum on the first floor. Every day, whenever I had a moment, I'd go down to explore, sit, and listen to the two singers perform – it was incredibly relaxing. The Yunlou restaurant on the 14th floor was also quite interesting, with wooden floors dating back to 1992. The breakfast selection was decent, and I could always find something I liked. Paying over 900 for a night's stay to experience one of Hudec's classic works was definitely worth it!

This classic old hotel is a traditional landmark in Shanghai. The rooms are comfortable, and the location is incredibly convenient, with Huaihai Road just around the corner. Yet, it's still surprisingly quiet despite being in such a bustling area, making it an excellent choice for a relaxing getaway. Next time I stay, I'll be sure to ask the front desk for a room facing the garden for an even better view.

Although this 1980s-built hotel hasn't undergone major renovations, the value for money offered by this package is truly outstanding. We checked into a south-facing, fourth-floor room with a balcony and a view. While the facilities had a nostalgic charm from a bygone era, everything was fully functional. Sitting on the balcony in the afternoon, basking in the warm sun, with a vast lawn before me and the crisp chirping of birds in my ears, was incredibly relaxing. The package included three zoo tickets (40 RMB each), and the hotel is just a 10-minute walk away. Even in winter, it was delightful to observe the various animals. Dinner was served at the Jasmine Hall. We had three portions of abalone, sea cucumber, and mushroom thick soup, three pieces of beef, three sauced shrimp, and three steamed siumai, along with stir-fried Shanghai greens and a steamed perch weighing about a pound. Paired with rice, all the dishes were delicious and made with fresh ingredients. Breakfast offered both Western and Chinese options and was decent overall, with the Western pastries being particularly good and worth trying. The hotel grounds boast several ancient trees, some over a hundred years old. Villas 2 and 3, century-old Western-style buildings, were hidden among the trees, only viewable from a distance. More disappointingly, the nearby Sassoon Villa is now closed to the public as the owner has reclaimed the property, so we couldn't see it. Overall, the hotel service was satisfactory. The front desk, cleaning staff, restaurant staff, and gatekeepers were all very enthusiastic. When we called to request bottled water, it was delivered very quickly. All in all, for 570 RMB (one night), what we received was definitely great value for money.

I bought a pre-sale package that included a complimentary afternoon tea for two. It turned out to be a buffet with a limited selection, but the food was delicious, especially the savory pastries (鲜肉酥). Even though I had just finished lunch, I still managed to eat two of them. We checked in on a Saturday, and our room was upgraded to a one-bedroom apartment in the annex building, complete with a living room, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a washing machine – it was incredibly convenient! The butler service was also very attentive, always available online to help with any issues. They even extended our check-out time to 2 PM. My kids spent two days in the pool and didn't want to go home!

The Garden Inn is truly fantastic! Every stay is consistently clean and hygienic, with spacious and bright rooms! The green plants on the windowsill are vibrant and full of life! The bed is just the right firmness, allowing for a comfortable sleep until you naturally wake up. The hotel's front desk staff provide quiet, gentle, and smiling service throughout, which is very pleasant. Even the hotel's breakfast offers a wide variety of options, combining both Western and Chinese dishes. The hotel's surrounding area is incredibly convenient for public transport, with easy access to the subway. Definitely worth recommending to more people!

The location is excellent, offering a quiet retreat in the midst of the hustle and bustle. It's super convenient to get to Jing'an Temple and other places. **Facilities:** They have a washer-dryer combo, a Siemens model, but for some reason, everything comes out super wrinkled. It would be great if the bathroom had underfloor heating; I imagine it gets quite cold in winter. Alternatively, a larger bath mat would be helpful. **Service:** There isn't much service to speak of. The front desk guy was polite but not overly friendly. The lounge was just a bunch of aunties chatting and cracking melon seeds; they didn't really acknowledge guests or ask if anyone needed anything. Plus, a latte was like 45 yuan, which isn't good value, especially since it wasn't made with any special beans. If you're not looking for top-notch service, I'd still recommend staying here. The room itself is perfectly fine. I just wish they had more one-bedroom apartments; I'd consider a long-term stay then. A studio isn't really suitable for two people for an extended period.

The only downsides were that the room lighting was quite dim and food delivery wasn't allowed upstairs. Everything else was pretty good.
