I got a free room upgrade and could see the Oriental Pearl Tower from my room.
**Amenities:** Everything you could possibly need was available. The hairdryer was excellent and dried my hair quickly. The in-room lighting was convenient with a master control switch. Instructions for all facilities were clear and easy to use. Hotel guides and in-room dining menus were all readily available. The bathtub was solid and not flimsy. The body lotion was smooth, easy to apply, and effective. The toiletries were also good and didn't leave a slippery residue. The bathroom was spacious enough for a comfortable shower. The shower cap, slippers, and facial soap were all of good quality.
**Cleanliness:** Spotless.
**Environment:** The hotel is located within walking distance of tourist attractions. The lobby is on the L floor, and the public spaces are wide, pleasant, and relaxing. The room had plenty of mirrors, including a full-length mirror right by the entrance. The furniture was made of retro dark wood, complemented by warm lighting and uniquely designed lamps, likely reflecting the popular decor style of its time. The furniture appeared solid and well-built. The wardrobe offered ample space with a good variety and number of hangers. The room was very comfortable to stay in. Although the living space showed signs of age, it was spacious, clean, and cozy.
**Breakfast:** The breakfast selection was rich and varied, offering everything one could want. On that day, they had steamed chicken feet, local delicacies like crab shell pastry, and other international dishes. The fruit selection included bananas and apples. For yogurt, there was plain yogurt and regular flavored packaged yogurts. Both hot and cold cereals were available.
**Service:** They gave me local specialty bookmarks and butterfly pastries. Requests were attended to promptly. Parking cost 20 yuan per entry. The parking area wasn't spacious, but there was someone on duty 24 hours a day to watch over and help move cars, which was very reassuring.

Two moms traveling with kids here. We were together, but not assigned to the same floor. I was on the 7th floor and my friend on the 8th. Both were low floors with absolutely no view. It was also really inconvenient that the room key only allowed access to our own floor. Then, the light switch in my room was one-way. On the first day, they said they'd arrange a room change for me, but it was fully booked, so they said they'd do it the next day. I figured changing rooms would be a hassle, so I didn't follow up with the front desk, but they never called to check either. My room was also right next to an outdoor air conditioning unit, which was very noisy. All in all, not a very satisfying experience.

This was my third stay here, and since my previous two experiences were good, I decided to come back again.
The hotel is conveniently located near Zhongshan Park Station, Exit 5, which serves Metro Lines 2, 3, and 4. The hotel is directly connected to the Dragon Dream shopping mall on the first floor, and Raffles City is less than a five-minute walk away. This prime location makes it incredibly convenient for dining, shopping, and transportation. Food deliveries are left in a special locker on the first floor, so guests need to pick them up themselves. Alternatively, you can dine at the hotel's own restaurants or opt for room service.
This time, I stayed on the 38th floor. The next morning, around 10 AM, the housekeeping uncle came by to ask if I had any laundry for dry cleaning. I didn't, so I asked him to clean my room. He was very diligent; I just told him what I needed restocked, and he made sure to provide it, and he cleaned the room exactly as I requested. I really appreciate his excellent service.
The hotel beds, especially the pillows, are very comfortable. I have back and neck issues, but I slept soundly for two nights with no discomfort. As for the subway, it generally stops around 11 PM and resumes service around 6 AM. I'm a light sleeper who often needs sleeping pills, but I didn't find the noise level too bothersome; it was acceptable. The hotel hallways are also very quiet and clean, with no noise from other guests. The elevators are always readily available, so no major issues there. Being on a high floor, the room offered expansive views, and I was able to capture some beautiful night photos from my room (see the last 4 pictures).
My only minor complaints were that check-in was a bit slow. Around 3 PM, there was a long line at the front desk. The lady explained it was due to a slow computer system. Also, the bathroom door in my room wouldn't close completely, always leaving a gap (see the fifth picture), so I had to angle the showerhead carefully when showering. The 'Do Not Disturb' button seemed to be linked to the lights (see the fourth picture); I was worried that if I pressed it, the lights would turn on, and it might be misunderstood as a 'Do Not Disturb' signal, preventing housekeeping from entering. Lastly, on my previous two stays, I was allowed a 2 PM late check-out, but this time I was only allowed until 12 PM. This might be due to high occupancy.
Overall, despite a few minor points, my multiple stays have been quite good, and I would definitely consider coming back again.
We stayed at Renaissance Shanghai Putuo at the end of November and honestly loved our time there. We booked the Premier Room and it was so spacious — perfect for a family with one child. The bath tub was such a plus too, especially after long days of exploring.
One of our favourite parts was the indoor heated pool. Even in fall/winter, we could still enjoy swimming every day, and the jacuzzi/whirlpool was amazing. A huge shoutout to the staff who take care of the swimming facilities — they were so kind and even made handmade origami birds to entertain my son. Such a sweet touch!
We stayed for 10 days and really enjoyed the area too. The underground metro is just a few steps away, and the food choices downstairs are endless. Super convenient for families.
Overall, a lovely stay — spacious room, warm staff, great facilities, and the perfect location for exploring Shanghai. Highly recommend for families ❤️✨

This stay at the Renaissance Shanghai Hongqiao with my friends was absolutely fantastic!
1. **Room & Facilities:** The Deluxe King Room was spacious and came with a small balcony. The mattress was incredibly soft, ensuring a super comfortable sleep. The first round of the minibar was complimentary, including Perrier and Evian. The pool and gym facilities were also well-maintained, clean, and pleasant.
2. **Service & Cleanliness:** From check-in to check-out, the staff were consistently warm, attentive, and very responsive. The room was spotlessly clean, with excellent attention to detail.
3. **Ambiance & Dining:** The hotel lobby and public areas were beautifully designed, perfect for photos, and there was live music starting at 7:30 PM, creating a very chill atmosphere. The breakfast had a wide variety of options and was well-prepared, including my favorite Eggs Benedict!
Overall, the experience far exceeded my expectations. It's a great choice for a weekend getaway!

Traveled to Shanghai with my family during the May Day holiday and chose this hotel. To avoid traffic, we left early on May 1st and arrived at the hotel around 8 AM. I asked the front desk if we could check in early, and they processed it immediately – kudos to them! Even though it was a busy May Day with lots of guests, the service quality was still top-notch. There were plenty of staff in the lobby, ready to assist with all guest needs. The room was very clean. We stayed for two nights, and on the second day, I accidentally pressed 'do not disturb'. The staff sent a text message asking when would be a good time to clean, which was very thoughtful. I'll definitely choose Renaissance again if I have the chance.
