Built in 1848, the elegant and luxurious hotel is the ideal place for both holidaymakers and business travellers and ably combines tradition with modern facilities. A modern extension has been built, which ideally complements the Georgian architecture of the terrace building. Guests may treat themselves to international, British, and Scottish delicacies prepared by the famous head chef in the Melrose restaurant. On offer in the hotel are a total of 197 rooms, and facilities include a lobby area with a reception desk manned around the clock, a safe for depositing valuables, and a cloakroom. Guests may also take advantage of the Melrose lounge and atrium, the Consort bar, the pre-function bar, the room and laundry services, the Internet access, and the George Suite for conferences and other events.

CCinderbellaThe location is absolutely perfect — it’s literally right in front of the castle, and there are plenty of cafés around, so the vibes are really nice! 😍
BUT the room itself was super tiny — honestly, it felt claustrophobic. Definitely not recommended for families traveling around the UK with lots of luggage. Thankfully, the reception staff were very helpful and let us store our suitcases at the front desk because they knew the room couldn’t possibly fit all of them 🤓 I even had one of my suitcases stored in their locker, lol.
There was even one night when the AC in our room suddenly stopped working, but the staff handled it really well and helped us move to another room — no hassle at all, which we really appreciated!
One important heads-up: this hotel is not wheelchair-friendly. There’s no lift, so keep that in mind if accessibility is a concern.

GGraham HoodI would describe the twin lions hotel more of a b & b. It was very basic. It was only a 10min walk to murrayfield and they don't double / triple there price on match days.
AAzibasuam LilianI loved the location as I had access to the park for the children and to the shop. I loved that the room had enough beds for all of us (5 people). I would have appreciated if we could get plates, as we came with food. It was great the room had a microwave. There was plumbing issues that delayed our shower time. But stay was good.
