DDandandejiezishuiI visited Quanzhou from February 20th to February 22nd during the Chinese New Year and booked a Wuzi Shushui King Room for two nights.
1. **Great Location:** The guesthouse is conveniently located near the entrance of Jinyu Lane, making it easy to access nearby attractions, restaurants, and shops. I was initially worried about noise since it's in a bustling area, but it turned out to be surprisingly quiet – a perfect blend of 'tranquility in the midst of activity.' The guesthouse has two buildings, and the only downside is the lack of an elevator, so you'll get some extra steps in if you're on a higher floor.
2. **Well-equipped Facilities:** You can tell the guesthouse is thoughtfully decorated. The first floor has a lounge area with a mini-fridge stocked with complimentary drinks, water, tea bags, coffee, and toothbrushes for guests, available 24/7 for relaxation and socializing. Bottled water is also available for self-service in the corridor on the second floor, which is very convenient. The rooftop even has a balcony with chairs, perfect for sunbathing and relaxing, offering views of the unique surrounding architecture. The room itself isn't huge, but it has everything you need, and the large TV provides a great viewing experience.
3. **Excellent Service:** I have to praise the service! The guesthouse provided a complimentary ticket to a traditional Quanzhou opera puppet show at a small teahouse, as well as a voucher for a 'Zhanhua' (flower headdress) experience and cultural merchandise. (Warning: avoid 'Banzhi Space' for Zhanhua! 😡💢 I’ll explain why at the end.) When I returned to the guesthouse and explained the situation to the staff, they immediately contacted the owner of the Zhanhua shop and even took me to a nearby makeup and styling store, which was incredibly thoughtful. Overall, this guesthouse is definitely worth staying at! 😆
**P.S.:** Knowing it would be crowded during Chinese New Year, I wanted to experience Zhanhua in Quanzhou. So, half a month in advance, I contacted the Zhanhua shop that the guesthouse partners with to understand the local situation, booked a time for Zhanhua and makeup, and paid a deposit. 😡 I flew all the way here, put on a mask and washed my hair that morning, and arrived on time for my appointment. However, when I entered the shop, not a single staff member helped me with clothing or offered guidance. When I asked the owner why no one was assisting me, his response was lukewarm, saying, ”How am I supposed to recommend anything to you? Just look for what you want yourself; how would I know what you like?” The other staff members also seemed indifferent; I felt completely ignored. I had an appointment for 9 AM, but he had scheduled four other customers for the same time. He claimed he could get me ready within half an hour, but fifteen minutes had already passed. I asked, ”Are you sure?” The owner then hesitated and said, ”I can't guarantee it. I can refund your deposit after half an hour.” I was so exasperated I almost laughed. What's the point of making an appointment and paying a deposit then?! I was furious, and it completely messed up all my plans.
