"Taj meant for its hospitality and Varkala gateway is exceptionally special homely environment. We thank each and every staff for making our stay memorable and welcoming again again. Food was amazing. Only difficulty In faced is stairs due to my weak knees. Staff were so cooperative they changed our room to the nearest and with minimum stairs for our convenience. We are really thank full to their kind gesture. We celebrated our special day with them. The made us special in every way. Thank you and all the best"

"Customer service was very poor. We faced water shortage and took more time to resolve the issue. Maintenance was very poor. Staff was not experienced to handle the situation. One portion of the room was not cleaned. Poor house keeping. The only advantage was that the room was near to the beach. Totally disappointed"

"They denied us rooms which were booked 3 months in advance. Their logic was you can check our gmail if we had your booking it should be here as that cannot be deleted. You don't have to be a tech genius to know that mails can be very easily deleted from gmail. After denying me room they insisted that they can give me non sea view rooms which are freshly furnished. These rooms had cheap furniture, locks didn't work, had no ventilation, smelled of god know what. They insisted that they can give me these rooms only if I don't take it through the app of my initial booking (Agoda). This makes me ineligible to rate them on the agoda. They are basically running a scam operation. Its Bait and Switch on unsuspecting tourists."

"Had a beautiful stay here for three nights in Varkala. I wish we could have stayed longer. Rooms tidy and clean with a wood furniture vibe and a small porch / verandah outside. Air con and fan, kettle and a small fridge. The rest of the space is just beautiful. Outside the rooms is full of plants and light. Upstairs there is a beautiful French / South Indian fusion cafe, and a large, light space for yoga, dance etc and a small gym area (kettle bells, bench, dumb bells, bands, boxes, various other bits and pieces). There is also a small treatment room for massage and Ayurveda treatments. I did a yoga class with Rajan which was absolutely wonderful - only three of us in the class, for 1.5 hours+ and he was very attentive. I’ve never felt so relaxed in my life. Then I had 30 mins reflexology with Dr. Ajitha which was also wonderful. Breakfast was included in the room - I had the Indian breakfast which was two nicely cooked dosa, 2 eggs (cooked how you like), a spiced sauce and coffee - all was delicious. My partner had the regular breakfast which was toast (a bit brioche like), with butter and jam, two eggs and a fresh juice. We also ordered extra coffee and juices which were delicious - the fresh coconut milkshake was amazing. Beach is a 5 min walk. We also had an eagle visible from our room. All Varkala shops, restaurant, yoga places etc easy walking distance. We swam in the sea every day. Wonderful place to stay. Service great too."
