The hotel is located on a hill with amazing views, and the rooms are quite spacious. However, for a tourist, transportation isn't very convenient. Getting to the hotel from town or the pier by taxi or tuk-tuk costs between 5,000 and 10,000 Indonesian Rupiah. But if you want to go down from the hotel, only the hotel's car is available, and it costs 100,000 Rupiah. I tried walking down, but gave up after a short while; the road is narrow, and there are too many motorbikes, making it feel unsafe.
As for service, staff were responsive to questions. However, the check-in process was indeed very slow. Perhaps it's a popular hotel locally, as the front desk was always busy and seemed understaffed. I arrived at 11 AM, went to the restaurant for lunch, and by 2 PM when I returned to the counter, my room still wasn't ready. In the end, I had to leave my bags and go out to explore. I stayed for two nights and overall, it was a good experience, better than some online reviews suggested.
The Homestay is okay for short trip. No Hot water, no AC / fan, walk up stair & simple bed & room. Not really walk distance from port Ajibata. The hotel owner Aunty & his son was very helpful. They share good tips while stay at Parapat. Used his son transport services back to Kota Medan. The up stair berandah was giving a beautiful View of Lake Toba view.
