"Recommend place to stay in Gongtan! The owners are so lovely. Waiting for us at the parking and helo us carry the luggage to the hotel. The hotel is very new and convenient. The room is pretty big and clean. The water supply are extremely good. Everything you need for your stay, they already provided in the room. The location is pretty near from the parking. For the breakfast, it is just only 100 meter from the hotel. There is very niche noodle shop on Shi Ban Lu. I am traveling with the elders. They have difficulty climbing up and down the stairs. For staying here, they can see the view of the river from the room. So they can enjoy staying in the room withing going out. Event hough the hotel is not the river front, but the view from the room is very beautiful. We have a peaceful and fabulous night here."

"First, I arrived at Gongtan at 8 PM. On the way, the landlady called to say that neither she nor her husband were at the guesthouse that day, only her mother was. I told her we had a driver and guide, so it wouldn't be a problem to find it. Later, I learned that cars couldn't drive in, and it was very difficult to find. We carried heavy suitcases down from the top, which was exhausting, as it was all high steps. The GPS wasn't accurate here either. Anyway, we searched for a long time, and it was hot and tiring. Second, when we arrived at the guesthouse, the environment was quite nice at first glance—bright and clean, with a nice view from the balcony. However, I thought the two rooms would be two separate rooms, but it turned out to be one large room separated by a glass partition with a bathroom. The soundproofing was terrible; the sound of people using the toilet was very clear, which was embarrassing. When I went to sleep, I found many small black bugs on the bed, the headboard felt quite dirty, and the blanket on the bed felt dirty and fuzzy. The faucet on the sink was loose, and the basin was too small, so water splashed everywhere when I washed my face. Third, I arrived very late at night and hadn't had dinner. I asked the auntie if there were any places to eat nearby, but she said she didn't know. I wandered around aimlessly for a while, and finally saw a bunch of tables next door by the river that looked like a restaurant. I climbed up to check, and sure enough, the place next to my room was a restaurant. I was a bit speechless. I left at eight in the morning, and there was nothing there—no breakfast or anything like that I'd seen in the comments. In short, the only advantage was the environment outside the balcony."

"Overall it was good..but there were small hiccups where the customer service was unable to locate our booking and our reserved room was given to another guest. So they upgraded us to a suite with 2 bedrooms. The hotel is located at the entrance of the village... The scenery of this ancient village is superb... No regrets visiting this place.."

The décor is a beautiful, personal curation: art and personal book collection, vintage porcelain, silk cushions, and carefully chosen artworks. Nothing feels excessive or staged. Every object has intention behind it — a celadon vase here, a bronze figurine there — and yet the overall feeling is one of warmth and ease, not a museum. The rooms are serene, the linens impeccable, and the little touches — embroidered pillow slips, a hand-painted watercolour above the bed — speak of a host who genuinely cares. The lady boss is a gracious and soft spoken lady. She offers just the right amount of company and showed us the warmth of Gongtan residents through her actions and food. This is not just a place to sleep. It is a place that stays with you."

"A trip to Chongqing is incomplete without a stay at Gongtan Ancient Town's Bashi Inn which is located at the bank of the calm Wujiang River facing the forested mountain. The Inn is conveniently situated opposite the Wujiang Cruise Centre. We had 2 blissful nights and adore the scenic view from our balcony. The room is clean and very comfortable. Our host, Ms Ran Ran, is a very warm and helpful person who had gone the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. She helped arrange all our transportation needs: arriving from Pengshui and departure from Gongtan."

"I made a special trip back to my hometown, Youyang, to experience the Peach Blossom Spring Forest Hotel. Even though I'm a local and own a place there, I was still willing to spend the money to experience it. The tree-hole room I booked was a fantastic experience; it even had a mahjong machine. It was incredibly photogenic, and the surrounding area was beautiful for taking pictures. The only thing I found a little uncomfortable was the infinity pool, which wasn't as impressive as I'd imagined. Before arriving, I thought it would be a private hotel pool, but when I got there, I found many people who weren't even staying at the hotel using swimming tickets to swim in it. This made me a little uncomfortable. Overall, though, it was great, and the service was excellent; they could easily call a car to pick you up whenever you wanted."

"The owner was incredibly kind and enthusiastic about picking us up and dropping us off. The room looked exactly like the pictures and was very clean, so we felt completely at ease staying there. The air conditioning kept the room warm, and Gongtan Ancient Town offers a unique charm both day and night, making it well worth a visit. We'd love to come back if we get the chance! 😊"
