This was my first time staying at this hotel in early 2024, and back then, the hardware and service were excellent. I returned in 2026 and noticed a significant decline in the hotel's facility maintenance. There were a few shortcomings that affected my stay, and there's an important check-in reminder: **Drawbacks and Things to Watch Out For** 1. **Severe dampness and moldy smell in the room; changing rooms didn't help.** Being on an island, humidity is a major issue. The first room had a strong moldy smell upon entering. After speaking with the front desk and switching rooms, the new room still had noticeable dampness and an unpleasant odor; it wasn't dry enough. 2. **Basic disposable amenities are not fully stocked.** The hotel does not provide common toiletries like razors for free. If you unexpectedly need one, you can't get it, which can be quite inconvenient if you've packed lightly. 3. **Be sure to close windows and doors tightly at night to prevent red flying ants.** In the evening and at night, make sure to keep your room door and windows tightly closed! Flying ants are attracted to light and can easily fly indoors. On my first night, I didn't close the door properly, and five or six red flying ants flew in, which was very unpleasant. Everyone staying here should be aware of this. **Hotel Highlights – Great for Families with Kids** 1. **Abundant breakfast options, a top choice for light eaters.** The breakfast selection is incredibly rich, with a wide variety of dishes. The salad and light meal section, in particular, has numerous choices, perfect for those who enjoy fresh, low-fat meals with many possible combinations. 2. **Kids' pool is a hit with children.** The exclusive children's splash pool in the resort has plenty of play facilities. Kids can spend a long time playing here, making it highly suitable for a family vacation. 3. **ADD Buffet Restaurant offers refined cuisine and a great ambiance.** The hotel's ADD Buffet Restaurant is one of the best quality ones I've tried in the Karon Beach area; the dishes are exquisite and delicious. In the evenings, there are live performances, and with fewer diners, it's quiet and relaxing. Overall, it offers great value for money. 4. **Unbeatable location, super convenient for daily life and getting around.** It's just a two to three-minute walk directly to Karon Beach. Right outside the hotel to the right are seafood stalls, and to the left, you'll find pharmacies, 7-Eleven convenience stores, and massage shops – everything you need for dining, shopping, and spa treatments is within easy reach. Highly recommended for family trips. **Summary:** If you can accept the room dampness issue and remember to close your windows and doors at night to keep out flying ants, and you primarily value a rich breakfast, convenient location, kids' water play, and delicious restaurant food, this place is a worthy choice. However, if you have high expectations for room dryness and the completeness of toiletries, I suggest you consider other options carefully.

Honestly, it's not as bad as some online reviews make it out to be. I found everyone to be incredibly friendly. The hotel front desk staff speaks Chinese and their attitude was excellent. My room was sea-facing, which was very convenient, and it had been recently renovated. The housekeeping staff never touched my belongings, and after I just mentioned it once, they folded elephant and swan towel art for me every day thereafter. They really provided great emotional value and were exceptionally polite. The hotel provides toiletries, and the room was clean with a balcony. There are two swimming pools, and everyone maintains a good sense of personal space; even the security guards at the entrance greet you with a smile. Plus, the price was incredibly cheap! The beach is just 100 meters away. Overall, my experience was fantastic, and I'd definitely stay here again. You get 5-star hotel service for this price.

Pros: The service was quite enthusiastic and responsive. The rooms were spacious with 180-degree views, and the bedding was comfortable. Also, since they are all stand-alone villas with only neighbors above and below, soundproofing and privacy are better. The staggered layout allows for distant sea views from the balconies, and there are many pools to enjoy water activities within the hotel. Breakfast was decent, quite simple, with good fruit, but the juices were not freshly squeezed, which was a bit disappointing. Cons: The gym equipment was limited, and the hotel is quite far from the beach and town. Overall, it's good value for money, nothing exceptional but left a positive impression. It's not over-the-top excellent though. This hotel is suitable for those looking for a quiet retreat nestled on a hillside or for people who plan to go sightseeing far away during the day. Tourists who prefer convenience to living areas or want to spend time at the beach should consider other options.

Nice hotel for families with kids. They have a mini animal farm with two sessions every day, and the kids absolutely loved it. The water slides were another big hit — the kids went crazy for them! 😂 The room was clean and comfortable. The decor is a bit old-fashioned, but everything was still clean and well maintained, so it was fine for us.

Facilities: This was our first time bringing our child to Phuket. We initially booked The Emerald in Karon, but then I read reviews saying that while it was new, the pool felt a bit cramped between the two buildings. So, I checked out more reviews and decisively switched to the established Old Phuket Karon Beach Resort, which has a more resort-like vibe! It boasts a super large pool water park, and there's even a dedicated children's area with a small water slide 🛝 for toddlers, which is fantastic! Cleanliness: As an older five-star hotel, the decor is a bit dated, so the rooms feel a little old, but overall cleanliness is quite good. There were no issues with small animals or anything like that, unlike some online reviews suggested. Environment: As always, I've attached pictures; beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Service: The front desk service was excellent. We booked island hopping tours daily, and they picked us up at the front desk each day. On the first day, I was unfamiliar with the area and worried about finding the driver, so a staff member proactively helped us check our itinerary and contacted the driver via phone to clarify things in Thai! Thumbs up! One more thing I absolutely must mention: The Old Phuket Karon Beach Resort's location is arguably the most convenient in the Karon area. Right outside, there's a small commercial street with massage parlors, fruit stalls, Thai food, and seafood – everything you could want! Plus, turn right out of the hotel and walk just 30 meters, and you're at the stunning Karon Beach in minutes. There's also a 🚌 bus stop right outside that goes to Phuket Town, which is much more convenient than Centara Karon Resort Phuket!

It is OK place. The location is close to the beach, restaurants, shops and massage places. The rooms are average, a bit worn. TV did not work properly. The bed sheets were dirty with white stains. But they were quickly replaced when I complained. But still during my stay the fresh towels were stained every second day. So I would recommend to change them the laundry. Also during my stay I had a leak from the room above. I asked the reception to deal with the water my floor. They used one of my towels. I found this very inventive. The breakfast was average. At the end expect they will check your room, so come for the check out 15 min on advance of your taxi to the airport. The location is very convenient, close to the beach, restaurants, shops and massage places. The rooms are average and a little worn, and the TV in my room did not work properly. Overall, the hotel is acceptable mainly because of its very good location, but cleanliness and maintenance could definitely be improved.

The room view was great, and while it seemed a bit tricky to find at first, once you got the hang of it, it was quite easy. This was our second hotel, and check-in was delayed until after 3 PM. Communication was a bit difficult without Chinese, so we used a translation app for more complex requests. The direct beach access was a huge plus; it was a convenient 10-15 minute walk along the beach to the nearest 7-Eleven and various restaurants. Walking up the steep slope from the hotel entrance to the main road was a bit of a workout. Don't forget to take some beautiful photos when the sunset is stunning! The hotel app was very convenient for ordering food and requesting extra toiletries/towels for the room. The bed was very comfortable. The facilities are a bit old but well-maintained. The tap water from the sink was yellowish, even when wrapped in a face towel, but that's just how the tap water is in Phuket. Our child loved the diving board and used it every day for the first time. Overall, we really enjoyed it. There's also an adults-only pool on higher ground with great views, but kids aren't allowed there.

It's a quiet oasis, yet close to Karon Viewpoint, with plenty of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. The rooms are incredibly spacious and exude Thai charm. All accommodations are individual villas or bungalows, generally over 50 sq.m., featuring a living room, a separate walk-in closet, a large bathroom, and an outdoor balcony. The decor showcases traditional Thai pitched roofs and wooden interiors, making for great photo opportunities. The pool is stunning, and it's never crowded. The main pool is large with clear turquoise water, complete with stone pathways through the pool, a small waterfall, and a Jacuzzi. There's also a buy-one-get-one-free happy hour for drinks in the afternoon. The service is friendly, and the hotel is very clean. The staff are enthusiastic and can speak some simple Chinese. Rooms are cleaned daily, and complimentary fruit and drinks are provided upon arrival. Since the hotel prohibits children under 12, it's always quiet and peaceful. The breakfast is good, offering excellent value for money. It's a mix of Chinese, Western, and Thai buffet options, and the quality is consistently good. During peak season, the average price is around ¥400–600 per night, which is quite a bargain for Karon.

A Wonderful and Memorable Stay I had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel and was very impressed with the overall experience. The hotel is beautiful and sits on a cliff overlooking the sea, offering stunning views. It is peaceful and quiet, making it a perfect place to relax and unwind. The hotel provides a convenient shuttle car service to take guests up and down the property. All you need to do is call the front desk, and the staff will come to pick you up right away. The staff were very helpful and attentive throughout my stay. The breakfast was also one of my favorite things about this hotel. There were plenty of options to choose from, and the restaurant is located right by the sea. Having breakfast while enjoying the beautiful ocean view was such a lovely experience. One thing to keep in mind, especially for guests who enjoy drinking, is that the hotel may not be the most convenient choice if you plan on having a few drinks. Although the shuttle can drop you off near your room, you still need to walk down some slightly steep stairs. So, if you have had too much to drink, you should be extra careful as the stairs could be a safety concern. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with beautiful sea views and a relaxing atmosphere.
