On the positive side, I appreciated the hotel's convenient location near 中山公园站 and its walkable distance to 南头古城. Additionally, the housekeeping staff was very friendly. However, I would like to bring two significant issues to your attention. First, during my stay on level 14, there was a very strong, musky, and moldy odor throughout the hallway. It was unpleasant to the point that we had to hold our breath whenever walking to the lift. Second, the hairdryer provided in the room was of poor quality and produced a burnt smell when switched on. For a chain hotels, I would expect higher-quality amenities, such as a Dyson or similar.

Booked Holiday Inn Express Donghua in advance for a weekend stay with the family. The hotel has been open for some years, but it's well-maintained and doesn't show its age. When I called the front desk beforehand, I mentioned we'd be traveling with a child. The service was thoughtful and attentive; they provided everything a child would need for their stay, including a complimentary kids' toiletries set. The location is a huge plus, with a dense array of restaurants, especially Japanese eateries, lining the street downstairs. The whole area is bustling, clearly retaining the vibrant atmosphere of its glory days. The room felt a bit compact, but the layout was well-designed, so it didn't feel cramped. My child particularly loved the bathtub in the room. It's very convenient for a walk; there's a small park right next door, perfect for a stroll after dinner to aid digestion. Just a heads-up: if you're driving, make sure to inform the front desk in advance about parking. Otherwise, finding a spot on the second basement level can be tricky and waste a lot of time. Overall, it was a very pleasant family stay with great value for money. And they offer a late-night soup service – excellent!
