RRach316I had a truly wonderful stay at this charming courtyard hotel in Pingyao, a perfect 10/10 experience. Although it’s a small property with only about 6–8 rooms, everything about it feels thoughtfully done and beautifully presented. The hotel is newly renovated, with tasteful decorations that blend traditional character with a fresh, comfortable atmosphere.
What impressed me the most was the owner. He is incredibly friendly, warm, and genuinely helpful, his service goes far beyond expectations. From the moment I arrived, I felt well taken care of, and his sincerity really made the stay special.
Location is superb! The room was spotless, one of the cleanest I’ve experienced. I actually walked around and looked at a few other motels in Pingyao, and I can confidently say this one stands out as the best in terms of cleanliness, comfort, and overall quality. On top of all that, the price is very reasonable for what you get. It’s rare to find a place that offers such great value together with such heartfelt hospitality. Highly, highly recommended , I would definitely stay here again.

HheadinthecloudWe stayed at this guesthouse for four nights, and the overall experience was simply flawless! The room and surroundings were exactly as pictured, even better – clean, comfortable, and in a fantastic location, making us feel completely at ease.
The host truly deserves special commendation. He was incredibly kind and thoughtful, taking excellent care of us from check-in to check-out. He also thoughtfully recommended many local delicacies and attractions, which added so much to our trip.
One of the biggest highlights of this trip was staying at this guesthouse and having so many warm and meaningful conversations with the host, which truly allowed us to experience authentic local hospitality.
We highly recommend this accommodation and will definitely choose to stay here again on our next visit!

GGuest UserWe had the best stay at Elswhwere Hotel West Gate. The building is restored it the nicest way really gives you the feeling of timetravel. The people working in the hotel, were carrying and welcoming. They explained us how to navigate the city, helped us buy tickets for the city sights, recommend restaurants and we even got a room upgrade and lovely gifts to take home and remember our time in Pingyao.
The bed was so comfortable and we had the best sleep. Can recommend this hotel full heartedly. Would definitely come back! Thank you Helen and Fenny for making our stay so memorable.

AAnother TreehuggerIt is a privilege and thrill to stay in the ancient city of Pingyao. The Jinxuan Hotel is such a great find. It is in a beautiful old courtyard building not far from the South Gate entrance. It is simple and authentic but has many up to date conveniences.
The room was huge with gorgeous high raftered ceilings and a 4 post bed. Everything was very clean and comfortable.
The best part of the stay was our gracious hosts. They gave us so much help and good information and were available whenever we needed.

YYuzhouwudidahaitunA fantastic hotel! The owner was incredibly welcoming, the hotel environment was excellent and very clean, and the rooms were spacious. Located near Yamen Street, almost in the heart of the ancient city, it's very convenient for visiting surrounding attractions.
When we left, the owner even gave us some of their own vinegar and offered free transportation to the train station – such thoughtful gestures! It's rare to find such a good hotel. If you're planning a trip to Pingyao Ancient City, I highly recommend staying here!

Only two bottles of mineral water were provided per day, so if you're a tea drinker, you might want to bring extra water with you. When I made the reservation, it stated that a bottle of vinegar would be offered as a complimentary gift. However, upon checkout, it wasn't automatically given, and you had to specifically ask for it. Even then, for a two-day stay, we only received one bottle.

KKewei·mengshengThe hotel is about 300 meters away from the South Street in the center of the ancient city. It is quite convenient to walk through the alley. The weather changed on the day we came, about minus 15 degrees. The hotel owner picked us up from the parking lot outside the city in a tricycle and sent us there when we left. We were given makeup and photography. Breakfast is next door, which is quite good. There are flower rolls, porridge, pickles, eggs, and fried potato shreds. The flower rolls are steamed by yourself, which are delicious and filling. Pingyao Ancient City is an ancient city that was developed earlier. It is famous, but disappointing. The management of the entire ancient city is relatively chaotic, the hygiene is not optimistic, and most of the houses are shabby, and some are even dangerous. It is very unreasonable to set the light show at 9 o'clock in the evening, and the South City Gate is closed. If you want to watch it, you need to go around a long circle in the cold wind.

”I had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel. The experience started perfectly with a complimentary pickup service at the train station, where the staff was waiting for me with a welcome sign. The hotel owner is incredibly kind and thoughtful, even lending me a portable translator to help with my communication during the trip.
The room is very modern and equipped with high-tech facilities. The bed is soft and comfortable, and the air conditioning system works perfectly for both heating and cooling. I was particularly impressed by the in-room water dispenser (both hot and cold water) and the massive projector screen which provided great entertainment.
The breakfast was delicious, served in a beautifully presented set. Every detail was taken care of with heart. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and hospitable stay!”

AAnonymous UserWe ended our five-day trip to Shanxi and were very satisfied with Shanxi, especially this B&B in Pingyao Ancient City. After booking the room, we contacted the inn and reserved a parking space for us. We got off the expressway and arrived at the parking lot smoothly, and someone came over. They were very considerate in picking up my luggage. The location of the inn is very good, just at the intersection of the pedestrian street. It is not noisy at night and is very convenient for traveling. This is the most recommended one. The inn is a typical Shanxi courtyard house, just like living in a TV series. The courtyard is very comfortable, the rooms are clean and hygienic, and the service is excellent. I recommend everyone to stay here.
