Just checked out and I *have* to rave about this hidden gem of a hotel in the ancient city! From the moment I stepped into Pingyao, I was completely won over by Taotang Inn's thoughtfulness.
- Luxurious Transfer, Grand Entrance: As soon as I got off the high-speed train, a Maybach arranged by the hotel was waiting. The spacious back seat, supple leather upholstery, and smooth ride into the ancient city instantly melted away travel fatigue. Talk about arriving in style!
- A Detail-Oriented Dream: Every corner of the room spoke of meticulous design – dark walnut wainscoting paired with warm-glow glass lamps created a retro yet sophisticated ambiance. The bedding was incredibly soft and gentle on the skin, and the mattress offered perfect support; I didn't want to get out of bed for two nights straight! The bathroom was an even bigger surprise, with high-end toiletries like Le Labo Santal 33 hand soap and Appelles mouthwash, plus the latest Dyson hairdryer. My hair was smooth and frizz-free after drying, the quality was truly palpable.
- Heartwarming Butler Service: Whenever we left, the butler would always hand us a warm bottle of mineral water and patiently recommend authentic local restaurants, even planning our routes for us. After a tiring day exploring the ancient city, returning to the hotel's warm, soft lighting and peaceful courtyard instantly calmed us down. It truly felt like coming home.
- Ancient Charm, Peaceful Retreat: The hotel itself is a beautifully preserved Jin merchant courtyard, with red lanterns hanging high and intricately carved wooden window lattices. During the day, we sunbathed and enjoyed tea in the courtyard, and at night, we drifted off to sleep listening to the quiet sounds of the ancient city. It perfectly balanced historical charm with modern comfort.
This was by far the best choice of my Shanxi trip, no exaggeration! Next time I'm in Pingyao, I'm definitely staying here again. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for quality and a warm, inviting atmosphere!

The hotel is convenient to go anywhere next to the ancient city. There are snack streets next to various restaurants to eat. The hotel service staff are also good. Everything is in place. GGuest UserI found this guesthouse just 20 minutes before arriving in Pingyao. I contacted the owner and learned they offer pick-up and drop-off from the station. I thought 20 minutes wouldn't be enough time, but to my surprise, the owner immediately sent a housekeeper to pick us up in a Mercedes business van. They were incredibly efficient despite the short notice. The room was clean and tidy, and we even got a free upgrade to a larger one. The service quality was top-notch; they were constantly checking in to see if we needed anything. On the way to the guesthouse, they asked us what we wanted to drink, and when we arrived, our preferred welcome drinks were already prepared. There were also complimentary fruits and a specially prepared beverage waiting for us. I initially booked just one night, just to try it out, but I was so pleasantly surprised that I extended my stay for another night. All the staff were warm and attentive. I genuinely recommend this guesthouse to anyone visiting Pingyao.

GGuest UserAn excellent stay! There was a dedicated person to pick us up, drop us off, and help with our luggage. The front desk lady even upgraded our room. The upgraded room was spacious and had an antique charm, and the environment was clean and tidy. We were pleasantly surprised to find memory foam pillows, which made for a great night's sleep. The breakfast was very rich, with all kinds of food available. All in all, a big thumbs up! 👍

JJiebudiaodejimoThe location is great, nestled between Yingxun Gate (South Gate) and Shangxi Gate, making it convenient for sightseeing yet surprisingly quiet. The facilities are good, but what really impressed me was picture #2 [assuming this refers to a specific feature/amenity shown in a picture]. I hope they can plug in the outlets before guests check in. The buckwheat pillow was very comfortable! The service was excellent; they communicated in advance about pickup/drop-off and even offered to drive me to attractions. Breakfast was abundant, featuring local specialties like Pingyao beef. It was well-balanced and tasty. The menu changed over the two days, though for me, there was a bit too much meat. If a full buffet isn't feasible, perhaps offering an à la carte menu where guests can choose their items would help reduce waste. And the cats at the hotel are adorable!

GGuest UserMy mother and two aunts came to Shanxi for a trip before the May Day holiday, and their first stop was Pingyao Ancient City. When I started looking for a hotel for them, I immediately noticed Qianxiqing, which is very close to the North Gate of the ancient city. Its antique decor perfectly matches the characteristics of the ancient city. After browsing further, I found that the hotel facilities were very new and high-end, and they also offered services like station pick-up, so I decisively made a reservation.
On the day of their arrival, I communicated with the owner in advance. The owner was kind, amiable, and meticulously provided me with an introduction, and understood the details needed for the pick-up. For the pick-up, the owner personally used a Mercedes-Benz van, which was quite a high-class touch! Upon arrival at the hotel, he patiently and thoroughly explained the hotel's features and provided information about some attractions in Pingyao Ancient City. He even contacted me after my mother and aunts went into the ancient city to inform them about some things to pay attention to while exploring. He was truly thoughtful. The next day when they checked out, the owner personally drove them to the North Gate.
Even though it was a short stay of less than a day, it truly demonstrated the highly professional standards and warm, attentive service of this hotel, the owner, and their team. It made me feel incredibly reassured. The next time I bring my family to visit the ancient city, I will definitely choose this hotel again!

GGuest UserThe room is the same as Atour. It is large and spacious, the bed is very comfortable, the room is cleaned very well, and the location is also good. It is right next to Pingyao Railway Station and close to the west gate of Pingyao Ancient City. It is also convenient to see Pingyao and see Pingyao. You can walk to it. The family room I booked includes breakfast for two, and the front desk also added breakfast for the child for free. The front desk service is in place. They booked a chartered car tour service for Pingyao Ancient City for us. There were 8 of us, and the price was 270 yuan, including the guide's explanation and the sightseeing car. It was a good deal. There were elderly people in the group, and we didn't want to work too hard. Fortunately, we made an appointment, otherwise the young people wouldn't be able to bear it. The ancient city is not small. Without a guide, it was a bit confusing to find the route. It was easy to go the wrong way. I walked around at night and got a general idea of where to go. When I checked out, they proactively reminded me to scan the code and enter the license plate number. Free parking was provided, and souvenirs were prepared. It was very good. I will renew my I8 reservation if I have the chance.

GGuest UserPingyao Yundingxuan truly exceeded our expectations! This ancient courtyard, a former Shanxi merchant's residence, has an incredible atmosphere, perfect for amazing photos. The location is superb, right on West Street in the heart of the old town, within walking distance of 'Impression Pingyao' and all major attractions – super convenient for sightseeing and dining.
The hotel offers free pickup and drop-off at the city gate, helps with luggage, and provides thoughtful and attentive service. They patiently explained sightseeing routes and even assisted with discounted bookings for 'Impression Pingyao' tickets, saving us time and effort.
The rooms are clean and tidy, with soft and comfortable bedding. The courtyard is quiet and tranquil, making it a very reassuring stay for both elderly guests and children. The amenities are comprehensive, and the breakfast is authentic. It offers incredible value for money. It's definitely the top choice for family trips to Pingyao. Highly recommended; we'll definitely stay here again next time we visit Pingyao.

The location is just a few minutes' walk from the most lively South Street in the ancient city.
The environment inside the homestay is unique. The wind of the rich Shanxi merchants' courtyard is blowing in the face. It is very suitable for girls to change clothes and take pictures. The room is also clean and comfortable. The towels and bath towels are all disposable.
The boss is very enthusiastic. He helped me upgrade the room, recommended the tour route and dining spots, and gave me a gift when I left.
