"Such great experience! The staffs were super helpful, kind and friendly. You can easily tell that they were happy to help out as much as they could for us to have a better experience. The room was clean without any visible dust when we first walked in, it was so obvious that they put their heart into what they do. We also recieved snack bag upon our departure! DD1451****We chose Taotang B&B for our trip to Pingyao. It's the most personal B&B we've ever stayed in! It felt like home! I was initially drawn to Taotang by its pictures, but the experience completely changed my perception of accommodation—it's more than just a B&B; it's truly a home away from home! Tucked away in the heart of Pingyao Ancient Town, it offers a tranquil escape from the bustle. Navigating to it is easy, and the moment you step inside feels like discovering a treasure trove! The surrounding area is incredibly convenient, with restaurants aplenty, so all you have to worry about is what to eat each day—there are so many delicious options. The B&B is decorated in a neo-Chinese style—simple yet sophisticated, with every detail telling a story. The room was much larger than I expected! The bed was incredibly soft, and the mattress and pillows were incredibly comfortable. I slept soundly without any back pain, and slept soundly through the night. In the morning, opening the curtains and letting the sunlight stream in was an instant relief! The bathroom has separate wet and dry areas, and the toiletries are from LE LABO, a niche brand under Yadai. They smell amazing and are packed with details! I have to give a special shoutout to our host, Zhang Liangwei, who helped me contact the guides for the ancient city, and the front desk lady, who was incredibly attentive. The high-speed rail station pick-up and drop-off, daily mung bean soup, snacks, and fruit...everything about our B&B truly reflects their thoughtfulness. This B&B made my trip to Pingyao so much more heartwarming. Not only was my stay comfortable, but I also experienced a ton of personal warmth! I've already recommended it to all my friends and anyone who wants to ”live like a local” ~ The photos are terrible, so you can refer to the B&B's own photos, which are absolutely authentic. ✨ Tips: - If the B&B has special activities (like a market tour or local snack cooking lessons), be sure to include them. - Mentioning ”details” makes it more authentic (e.g., ”There's a non-slip mat in the bathroom” or ”There's a nightlight by the bed”). - Using comparisons makes it stand out (e.g., ”It's much better than other similarly priced hotels I've stayed in before”). I absolutely have to recommend it to everyone! 🌆 Perfect Location: The hotel is right at the north gate of the ancient city, allowing you to explore the city as soon as you step out of the hotel. Popular attractions and food stalls are just a few minutes' walk away. This location is simply unbeatable, saving you a ton of time and energy. 👦 Superb Service: When I arrived at the north gate, the handsome front desk staff was already waiting for me. They not only helped me carry my luggage all the way to my room, but were also incredibly attentive. During check-in, they meticulously explained the room's amenities, hand-painted a food map of the surrounding area, and recommended many local specialties, which immediately helped me find my way around. 🏠 The Room and Courtyard Have an Antique Charm: Upon entering the hotel courtyard, a vibrant, ancient atmosphere washes over you. Every detail, from greenery and rockery to flowing water, exudes elegance. The room was even more surprising, with its wooden furniture and carved window lattices, it felt like a trip back to ancient times. The bed was perfectly firm, and the linens were clean and comfortable, making for a truly peaceful stay. 👘 Special Jin Dynasty Costumes for Young Lady Photography: I have to mention the hotel's Jin Dynasty Costumes for Young Lady Photography service. The costumes the hostess meticulously prepared were truly exquisite, both in fabric and workmanship, far superior to those rented on the street. The hostess herself was beautiful and welcoming. Not only did she help me choose the perfect outfit, she also did my makeup and hair herself. She was incredibly helpful during the photoshoot, so I didn't have to worry about any awkward moments. The photos I took were incredibly well-liked on my social media. I was absolutely delighted with my stay. From the service to the ambiance, every detail was truly captivating. If you're planning a trip to the ancient city, I highly recommend this hotel; I'm sure you'll love it too!

The location of the hotel is simply unparalleled, being located next to West Street, which allows us to blend into the hustle and bustle of the ancient city as soon as we leave the hotel, and it is very convenient to visit various attractions. Pingyuan Gongfu Hotel itself has a strong sense of history. The ancient courtyard seems to be telling stories of the past. It is beautiful and rich in cultural heritage. Every brick, tile, blade of grass and tree in the courtyard demonstrates the unique charm of Pingyao Ancient City. Living here is like traveling back to ancient times and experiencing the living atmosphere of ancient Shanxi merchants. The hotel's service is beyond praise. The front desk staff was very friendly and enthusiastic. From the driver who took us into the ancient city to the staff who helped us with our luggage, their meticulous service made us feel the warmth of home from the moment we stepped into the hotel. The hotel has complete facilities and care for guests everywhere. Not only fresh fruits are provided, but the rooms are also equipped with Evian mineral water and various snacks. The most surprising thing is that all of this is free of charge. When you are tired from traveling, enjoy everything the hotel has to offer and the fatigue will disappear instantly. In short, Pingyuan Gongfu is a treasure hotel that cannot be missed and is highly recommended to every tourist visiting Pingyao!

XXiaojuxiaojuxiaojuService: The owner was very attentive and even helped us pick up our luggage from our previous hotel, saving us time. It was super nice! 👌🏻 Environment: We canceled our previous hotel reservation immediately after seeing this hotel open, and it proved to be a great choice. The decor is very new, and the vibrant jujube trees in the courtyard are a real delight. The night view is also stunning, perfect for taking photos. Cleanliness: The courtyard is very clean and tidy, and the maid is diligent in cleaning. I even saw her mopping the courtyard while I was eating breakfast, which was a very pleasant experience. Amenities: The room was well-equipped, with Marshall speakers, a Dyson hair dryer, a temperature-controlled towel rack, and smart home technology—essential for a quality travel experience. It's the details that really make it stand out. After my travel photography trip, I returned to the hotel to shower, turned on the speakers, and listened to music. My husband sat on the sofa. The courtyard was quiet and peaceful, creating a very relaxing atmosphere that instantly soothed the fatigue of walking around the ancient city. Breakfast: I don't think there are many breakfast options in Pingyao, but this one offers both Chinese and Western dishes, and they're very filling.

MM2be7x98r****This stay completely exceeded our expectations! As soon as we placed our order, the front desk staff proactively contacted us to inquire about our itinerary. They provided a free high-speed rail pick-up, helped with our luggage, and offered helpful recommendations for nearby restaurants and attractions. We also received a free room upgrade. The room was spotlessly clean, the wall-mounted drinking fountain was convenient, the shower had stable water pressure and temperature, and disposable towels were provided. Breakfast was extensive. The location is also fantastic, with the city building just outside, perfect for photo opportunities. Highly recommended for travelers or business trips!

VVAYangExcellent location with a nice intro buffet dinner for local cuisine and breakfast included. Next to an important Taoist shrine and provision shops. Also within 5-10 min walk from the “New East Gate” which is important if you want to take a taxi for sights outside the walled city. Note outside vehicles are not allowed to get into the walled city. Extremely helpful staff and the high speed rail station to hotel transfer service is much appreciated especially since outside taxi cannot get into the hotel location. We speak mandarin and found the ancient city tour guides well worth the money. Look for the guides with the standardised purple windbreakers in winter. Standardised price but worth every cent. Glad my family took the detour to Ping Yao

DD. VerweijPro + It is a new and beautiful place to stay. + Very kind, friendly and polite staff. + Spacious bathroom. + When leaving early the taxi driver can pick you up in front of the hotel. Cons — The hotel is too expensive. — Not a smoke free hotel. There was even smoke inside the lobby and the second night it was all over our room too (airconditioning?). — The first night we tried the dinner, but it was not good. They have photos of the food, but it doesn’t match with what you get. We ordered salmon sushi and got FROZEN sushi instead which was obviously not eatable. — When we asked for a tea on the terrace we were charged 48 Yuan per person which is way too expensive. — The bedroom is a bit too small and has the same size as the bathroom.

SSven FBA very nice hotel with very friendly staff and nice rooms. We recommend the VIP building. The breakfast was chinese and western. The hotel is placed outside the city wall and can be reached easily with taxi or DiDi, but only a few steps to enter the ancient city area. The only field to improve is some basic English for foreign guests, but at the end we managed to communicate :-). See you again!

SSteven Van EmelenWhat a wonderful experience! The hotel is located in a beautiful historic setting within the ancient city walls of Pingyao, right in the heart of the old town. The atmosphere is truly authentic—you feel like you've stepped back in time. It's the perfect base for exploring this charming city. The rooms are clean and reflect the traditional style of the surroundings, adding to the overall charm. But what truly made our stay special was the staff: incredibly friendly and always willing to help. Despite the language barrier, they went out of their way to communicate with us, using translation apps and lots of patience. We felt genuinely welcomed. All in all, highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and memorable stay in historic Pingyao!
