Within Pingyao walled city, it was easy to go to visit the sites. The lady owner gave me a map. Even though I speak no Chinese and they speak no English, we were able to communicate using a translator app. She recommended a restaurant when I asked.
They made the utmost effort to make your stay enjoyable. The owner took me to the railway station when I left.
P.S. Best to download MAPS.ME as it will work offline. Google Maps does not work in China. The taxi will drop you outside the city wall and you can ride the shuttle to the hotel. Make sure you got the Chinese address. Also same possible, install the Wechat app as it is used widely in China - you text in English they translate to Chinese and vice versa.

LLilian.TeSuch a beautiful boutique hotel. Courtyard is so pretty and the rooms were really nice too. Bathtub in the bedroom (additional to the shower). Also very helpful and friendly staff, driver took us around the ancient town and told us about all the main tourist attractions. A short walk to the main streets (south street and west street). Would recommend :)

GGuest UserExcellent and friendly reception when we arrived at the hotel. We only had one and half days to tour pingyao and the hotel staff were very helpful in recommending a half day guided tour with buggy transport to various sites in Pingyao Guchen. They also helped us to link up with a tour agency to book a day tour to Wang Jia Da Yuan and Hukou waterfall. The staff helped us to book tickets to the show，又见平遥， and shuttled us to the venue after the half day tour. Because of their excellent recommendations and service, we managed to enjoy the sights and culture of Pingyao within one and half days.
The hotel is in a beautiful traditional courtyard. Newly renovated. The room is very clean with modern amenities. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast is hearty.
We also love the free transfer from high speed rail station to hotel and return. Highly recommended!

AAnonymous UserThe hotel is close to Pingyao Railway Station and has an underground parking lot. It is very close to the west gate of the ancient city! The parking lot also has charging piles, which is very convenient and large. There is a very comfortable fragrance when you enter the lobby. The front desk service is warm, the room is clean and tidy, the breakfast is good, and the knife-cut noodles are delicious. There is also a laundry room and a gym on the second floor. It happened that my family was doing laundry, and the hotel lady also helped to dry and deliver it to the room. It really exceeded my imagination. I will come again next time!

KKai Z.We had a wonderful stay at this charming place located right in the heart of the ancient town. The large, beautiful courtyard provided a beautiful scene and the pick-up and drop-off service was really convenient. The staff were exceptionally friendly, and we were even given a lovely farewell gift. The flexibility of being able to leave a day earlier to visit another city was also thankfully no problem.
While the buildings are historic and full of character, it does come with the challenge of less soundproofing in the rooms, which led to some noises like talking at night. However, this is entirely understandable given the age and historic value of the building. Overall, it was a great experience.

GGuest UserTraditional inn style hotel, just as you enter the old city. I stayed in a typical stone bed with futon mattress, initially I was stressed I cannot sleep.well but it was perfect. Another plus is the heated japanese style toilet and the breakfast across the street at two local ladies. Cannot get more authentic than this. They offer free driving to the railway station (high speed in my case), which it came as a pleasant surprise as I was not aware of. Highly recommend for simple, authentic local experience 🙂

MM844592****During my visit to Pingyao, I stayed at the Tingbo Hotel, and I give it a five-star rating! The location is incredible, right next to the North Gate of the Ancient City. The North Gate Scenic Area is just a 5-minute walk away, making it super convenient to come back and rest whenever you're tired.
The hotel's ambiance is truly stunning, perfectly blending Chinese elegance with modern comfort. The lobby is grand, and the rooms are clean and cozy. The amenities are all new, the bedding is soft and comfortable, and the showers are powerful and incredibly refreshing.
The service is impeccable! The front desk lady is warm and attentive, proactively helping with luggage, planning routes, and even giving us maps of the Ancient City. Every time I come back, she greets me with a smile, making me feel like home.
The value for money is incredible! The location and service are very reasonable. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Pingyao. It's definitely the best choice for accommodation near the Ancient City! I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip!

JJeffery.truongThe ancient city Pingyao and the Yundingxuan hotel blowed our mind. The hotel provide free pickup from the train station. We took the high speed train arrived at Pingyaocheng station which is around 15 minutes away from the ancient city. When you enter the city wall gate, you will be amazed of the narrow streets and cobblestone road. Picked Yundingxuan hotel because it was closed to the North gate so
If the taxi was to dropped us off it’ll be a short walk but the driver dropped us off near the hotel because cars are not allowed within the main streets.
The hotel is closed to 200 years old and have characteristics of the Ming and Qing dynasties. I was born in Vietnam,
With roots to China but raised up in the US since I was 7 years old. I’ve seen Chinese movies but nothing will prepare you to the hotel and the ancient city. I was surprised how big the hotel complex was. All the staff were very nice, the main host spoke English, and the breakfasts were traditional Chinese breakfast. We stayed two nights and we felt safe throughout our visit. My wife and daughter appreciated the three hotel cats and all the felines throughout the city.
I’m sure the other hotels are fantastic and will give your a unique experience but I can vouch for Yundingxuan. Just be prepared to get out your comfort zone but be amazed by the visual and taste of Pingyao Ancient City.

SSarahBooked 2 rooms and it is a pleasant experience to stay at 忠恕園. Should have arranged with the staff for xian north train station pick up then we can get to the hotel without much struggling in locating the hotel. Price is cheaper than taking taxi and the golf cart. Avoid to eat inside the city at all cost. Food is extremely horrible and identical. Deep fried frozen food and you can taste the frozen taste. Walk out from the South Gate and you can find good food.
