"I was so touched! Right after I got off the high-speed train, the inn owner was already waiting for me by the roadside in his car. Since cars can't enter the ancient city gate, the owner switched to an electric scooter and continued to take me to the inn, free of charge. The proprietress helped me carry my luggage to the second floor, which I felt really bad about, but was deeply moved by! I absolutely love the style of this room. After check-in, the proprietress grabbed a map and meticulously explained tips for exploring Pingyao Ancient City and important details to note, making everything very clear. I love Shanxi; I felt such attentive care here. When it was time to leave, the owner offered to drive me to the high-speed train station again. I felt embarrassed and decided to leave early and take a taxi to the station myself, then informed the owner via WeChat. He immediately asked if I had gotten into the car yet, offering to drive me if I hadn't. Oh, I was so moved! I told him I had really gotten into a car and didn't need him to drive, wishing his business prosperity and continued success! For anyone planning a trip to Pingyao Ancient City, choose this place; it's very reliable, you won't go wrong!"

"I've traveled to over thirty cities in the past two years, and this was my first time choosing a guesthouse within an ancient city. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this hotel, located right in the ancient city, had very modern facilities, including central air conditioning, and hot and cold running water. The environment within the ancient city is beautiful, but what truly stood out was the exceptional service. I felt completely at home. They offered shuttle service to and from the high-speed train station and provided all sorts of assistance. I even forgot my glasses during a tour, and one of the staff members ran to bring them to me – it was incredibly touching. The location is also excellent, very close to the bustling South Street."

When we left, they gave us some handmade vinegar from their shop, and also free outfits and discount vouchers for popular restaurants. It was absolutely wonderful! "Excel·lent place to stay, near the main street and with lots of places to eat nearby. The room was immense, clean and very comfortable and the bathroom was so modern and clean. We had an electric toilet where you could flush the toilet automatically and even warm the seat at a certain temperature. It was an experience! They gave us fresh fruit also and provided us with water and clean towels everyday. The hotel looks a little bit old and maybe it needs generally a bit more maintainacee and ckeanenkess but overall the bedroom was fantastic which is the most importants. The staff also speaks very good English and they helped us when we calked them as we didn't find first the hotel. Turns out that Harmony Hotel and Jade Garden Hotel is the same just in case maps doesn't bring you to the right place. Also the experience of sleeping in a traditional house with the gardens and patios outside it's Soo cool."

"We had a late pickup from the train station and were very warmly welcomed. Our room was clean, spacious and very comfortable, and the next day we were even brought back to the station. The hotel is located right in the center of the old town, so all major sights and restaurants are just a short walk away. The location is perfect for exploring the historic Pingyao old town while still being able to enjoy a quiet atmosphere in the evening. We had a really great stay in Pingyao. The hosts went out of their way to be helpful and very attentive. The staff speaks English, which made communication easy and pleasant. We especially liked that breakfast was even brought to our room."

"I really loved this Atour Hotel inside Pingyao Ancient City! The design is unique, the location is great, and the facilities are modern. The service was excellent, and the breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of options. They even thoughtfully prepared a souvenir for me. It just opened for the May Day holiday, and it was very comfortable. We booked a family suite. Our whole family really enjoyed this Atour, and I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Pingyao."

"The experience of staying at the homestay this time was really great! The boss is very enthusiastic. When I arrived at the gate of the ancient city, he directly rode an electric car to help me with my luggage and drove me there, which was especially worry-free. The location is also superb, very close to the small south gate, and it is particularly convenient to travel. The room was upgraded for free when I checked in, and the check-out was also delayed in the off-season. When I checked out, I was late in the train. I wanted to add some money to stay for a while. The eldest brother was very happy to let me continue to rest. There was no extra charge at all. Any questions are communicated smoothly, the response is timely and intimate, the whole process is as thoughtful as a friend, the price and experience are full, I will definitely stay here next time, highly recommended!"

Every brick and stone tells a story. Every street and alley narrates tales of the past and present. Kang Qian Ji Mansion is located at No. 33, Chang Xiang Street, within the ancient city of Pingyao. It was constructed in 1838 during the reign of Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty. Currently, it is a county-level cultural heritage site. It was originally the residence of Wang Jin-ting, the manager of the Pingyao Tiancheng Heng Bank’s Hankou branch. Wang Jin-ting (1859–1938), whose full name was Quan Yi and whose courtesy name was Jin-ting, was from the village of Xi Zhang Zhao in Pingyao. In his youth, he worked in the Tiancheng Heng Bank. After the bank’s collapse, he was recommended by Lu Rongting, the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, to serve as an assistant manager at the Guangxi Bank. In 1924, Wang Jin-ting purchased the residence at No. 33 Chang Xiang Street in Pingyao’s ancient city, which had originally been a government residence. The courtyard’s floor plan features a pair of phoenixes spreading their wings, with the phoenix facing the grain market and its tail extending over the Helaoxian Bridge, symbolizing vitality and auspiciousness. The courtyard has weathered the passage of time, and with the changes in society, it was acquired by Kang Qian Ji Catering Company in 2025. We uphold the “Deren” principle of the Jin merchants, striving to restore and maintain the original state of the courtyard. The courtyard’s brick carvings of the麒麟 delivering children symbolize the owner’s dedication to preserving the Jin merchant culture and their best wishes for the guests. The wooden carvings of the phoenix and dragon support the pillars, showcasing the courtyard’s grandeur and elegance.
