It has all the essentials and is very clean. The mattress was comfortable. Of course, it can't compare to high-end or luxury hotels. Its main advantage is its excellent location; it's very convenient for exploring, and you can easily pop back for a rest when you get tired. **Service:** The staff were very service-oriented. When we arrived, there weren't many guests, and the service was very attentive. **Breakfast:** It's not a buffet; it's a fixed-menu breakfast, like a 'nine-grid' style. It looks very appealing, and the taste is decent enough to fill you up. Overall, it's a good stay. Naturally, for this price point within the ancient city, you shouldn't compare it to hotels of the same price outside. It's incomparable, primarily due to its superb geographical advantage."

"This was my favorite hotel during my Shanxi trip, and here's why: 1. The hotel is a converted old mansion, full of character. The rooms are spotless, fully smart-enabled, and stylishly designed. The bedding is incredibly comfortable, with a choice of two pillows of different firmness levels. The mini-fridge also comes stocked with complimentary drinks and snacks. 2. The personalized and attentive service is a highlight of this boutique hotel. The staff were warm and proactive. Since we had an early train, they even prepared breakfast for us in advance. On our arrival day, they offered us delicious wontons for lunch to tide us over. 3. The location is excellent, not far from the North Gate, making it super convenient for exploring the ancient city. 4. The hotel provides complimentary transfers to and from the train station in a Mercedes van equipped with massage seats – they've really invested in top-notch amenities. 5. The value for money is outstanding. With such amenities and service, it's absolutely worth every penny. I'll definitely be back!"

"Our stay at Xinghuacun Inn was excellent! Since we were traveling with elderly family members, they upgraded us to a suite, which saved us the hassle of going up and down stairs. Overall, it was a comfortable and pleasant experience. "The quaint courtyard was truly worth the trip. The owner was incredibly thoughtful, contacting us a day in advance to provide parking information and even turning on the air conditioning in our room beforehand – more considerate than I expected. Because we got carried away sightseeing, it was already dark when we arrived in Pingyao. Luckily, the owner had sent someone to wait for us along the parking lot route, otherwise we might have missed our stop. The hotel's location is very convenient, easily accessible from West Street and South Street. The breakfast was also excellent and definitely worth trying. Oh, and the owner even upgraded us to a cave dwelling room and gave us a discount coupon – thank you! I felt that the businesses I encountered in Pingyao were all very friendly and had excellent service. Highly recommended!"

"A very nice hotel with very friendly staff and nice rooms. We recommend the VIP building. The breakfast was chinese and western. The hotel is placed outside the city wall and can be reached easily with taxi or DiDi, but only a few steps to enter the ancient city area. The only field to improve is some basic English for foreign guests, but at the end we managed to communicate :-). See you again!"

"This hotel boasts an excellent location within the ancient city walls, right by the pedestrian street. The service was impeccable; after parking at the north gate, two hotel staff members met us with a cart to help with our luggage. They then escorted us on a scenic vehicle directly to the hotel entrance. The hotel itself is incredibly picturesque, perfect for photos in traditional attire. It's quiet and elegant, truly making you feel like you've stepped back in time. All the facilities are new, featuring smart home technology, yet maintaining an authentic ancient Chinese style. The breakfast was plentiful, light, and nutritious, offering a good variety of meats, vegetables, and whole grains. Other meals can be ordered à la carte. I really love this hotel and would definitely stay here again if I return to Pingyao! Many thanks to all the hotel staff for their warm hospitality!"

"This is my third stay at Yunjincheng, and I love it more and more each time – definitely a five-star review! The ancient courtyard has such a wonderful ambiance, with its traditional grey bricks and dark tiles exuding a timeless charm. Everywhere you look, there are exquisite brick and stone carvings, rich in authentic Jin merchant style. The unique *kang* bed in the room is super comfortable and distinctive – I slept so soundly. The breakfast is incredibly generous, especially the freshly stir-fried Pingyao Wantuo, which is savory and delicious, giving you a real taste of local life! Their aged vinegar is absolutely outstanding; it's mellow and rich, and I've bought it many times as gifts for friends and family because it's both healthy and nutritious. The environment, food, and service are all top-notch. Yunjincheng is my top choice for accommodation in Pingyao, and I'll definitely be back again this autumn!"

"Our stay was absolutely fantastic! The amenities and the butler service were top-notch, truly exceptional. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Pingyao Ancient City. 1. They provide high-quality toiletries from Le Labo, mouthwash from Appelles, and a Dyson hairdryer – truly premium personal care products. 2. Since it was the off-season, the hotel upgraded our room. And due to an unforeseen issue on the first night, they upgraded our room again, showing their excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Upon check-in, they immediately offered food recommendations and a travel guide. 3. Every afternoon, we received a delightful delivery of fresh fruit, selected snacks, and a heartwarming sweet soup. It was a lovely touch that made us feel very cared for. Plus, breakfast could be delivered to our room to enjoy at our leisure. Overall, this was an absolutely amazing stay!"

"Excellent location with a nice intro buffet dinner for local cuisine and breakfast included. Next to an important Taoist shrine and provision shops. Also within 5-10 min walk from the “New East Gate” which is important if you want to take a taxi for sights outside the walled city. Note outside vehicles are not allowed to get into the walled city. Extremely helpful staff and the high speed rail station to hotel transfer service is much appreciated especially since outside taxi cannot get into the hotel location. We speak mandarin and found the ancient city tour guides well worth the money. Look for the guides with the standardised purple windbreakers in winter. Standardised price but worth every cent. Glad my family took the detour to Ping Yao"
