MMaureenThompsonI loved this place so much that I stayed 5 nights. Yang the owner speaks perfect English. I rang the day before and he was waiting at the train station with my name on a sign. He helped me organise the entrance fee. Mine was free as I'm 73 years old, even though I am a foreigner. I am travelling on my own from New Zealand. The train station pick up was free and very useful. If you take the bus it's a long way from the ticket office and bus stop into the village. Yang then transferred me into his smaller vehicle to go up the little lane to the hotel. The hotel is 5 minutes walk into the village and has a great view of the village.. It is quiet as it's a little bit away from the busy centre. The room was perfect. Everything new and very clean. And no smells. The bed was extremely comfortable with good quality bedding. I used the washing machine in the room to wash my clothes. There was tea and coffee provided. Yang took me on a full day trip to see some other local villages that have no tourists. We walked around the villages together. It was fantastic to have an English guide to explain everything. We saw people making rice wine, making indigo dye, building a house using traditional techniques. We saw a fighting buffalo. Yang chatted to the people and explained what they were doing. This was the best time I have had in China. He was a good careful driver. The breakfast was huge! So many dishes, including fruit. Yang was always available to help me with any questions and we had good talks every morning when he helped me plan my activities.

WworldangelBefore arriving, the homestay stafd took the initiative to contact me via Wechat so that they can arrange for transport to bring us from the train station to the hotel. This hotel is located inside Zhaoxing Ancient Village so do purchase the entrance tickets beforehand. The hotel is located towards the end of the village and our room is facing a small paddy field. It is very convenient to move around as it is only 5-10 minutes walk to the bus station if you want to take the shuttle bus to Tang'An Rice Terrace. It is also about 5-10 minutes walk to the centre of the village where you can find food and other necessities. The staff is very considerate- they will message me on wechat to ask what we prefer for breakfast so that they can prepare the noodles and coffee for us by the time we want to go down for breakfast. They can also deliver the breakfast to your room if you prefer. The beds are very comfortable although the pillows can be a bit harder and will be good to have more hooks in the bathroom for guests to hang their towels and clothes before showering. All in all, would highly recommend this homestay. Thank you for the hospitality!

EErnest WeeVery clean and spacious room. We had 2 adults and 2 children and the room was so comfortable for all of us.
Breakfast was amazing. Prepared lovingly by a local lady with guilin noodles, yoghurt and fruit.
Service was excellent. Attended to our needs promptly without any delay.
Location is amazing smacked right in the middle of the main busy street.

GGuest UserIt was my first time visiting the scenic area, and after looking around, I chose this hotel. The experience definitely earned its high rating.
The main reason was the owner was so nice. He picked us up and dropped us off, helped with our luggage, and even prepared a large bowl of fruit for us in our room, which we couldn't finish. We had time to rest at the hotel before our train, and the owner was very welcoming. He even dropped us off and told us how to get to the bus.
The hotel environment and cleanliness were generally quite clean, and I didn't find any issues.
If you take a taxi to the scenic area entrance, you need to buy a ticket and then take the shuttle bus to the terminal. The owner doesn't drive you.

__WeChat262917****Facilities: The facilities are new and complete, as it's a newly opened establishment. The interior decoration is excellent, very clean, and beautiful. The bed is super comfortable; it's not overly soft like some hotel beds, but a very pleasant mattress. There's also a smart toilet, TV, hairdryer, etc., making it very convenient.
Cleanliness: It's very clean. The ground floor has a spacious and bright lobby with modern decor. The rooms feature large floor-to-ceiling windows with beautiful views of the rice paddies. Both the room and bathroom are spotless, with no unpleasant odors, which made our stay feel very secure.
Environment: Located in Shangzhai, the environment is very peaceful and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of the village center. We slept wonderfully at night. Plus, the room windows are soundproof; once closed, you can't even hear the rain outside, which is truly commendable 👍. I think staying here is better than other B&Bs in different locations, and it's also closer to the Tang'an Terraces. Excellent.
Service: Compared to the facilities, cleanliness, and environment, the service is the most praiseworthy! They provided timely pick-up and drop-off at the high-speed rail station, helped with our luggage, and offered complimentary coffee and water. Any issues were promptly resolved by the front desk staff. The owner was also very accommodating. When leaving, knowing we hadn't visited the viewpoint, he even offered us a ride up to take photos. Overall, my family and I were very satisfied with this B&B booking! If we have a chance to visit again in the future, we will definitely book here again! Highly recommended!

AAnonymous UserBasic room, small bathroom with a tiny sink. The room only has eco-friendly paper towels. There is hot water available. One thing that bothered me was that the heater takes around 24 hours to heat up the room. If you only stay one night here in winter expect it to be a cold one. I found the bed sheets also to be too short for people taller than 1.80m.
Besides the room being average the service provided is far above average. The host made sure I reached the hotel safely and picked me up from the bus stop.

MMonikaFantastic stay at Bula Lakeside Hotel! Clean room with amazing lake view at the beginning of Zhaoxing Dong village. Hot water and heating worked without any problems. WIFI also worked. I would like to thank the staff the most - the girl at the reception who we communicated with via WeChat and a translator. We are foreigners who don't speak Chinese and she didn't speak English, but we managed everything. Also the gentleman who came to the train station to pick us up to make our way to the hotel easier. We also appreciate his cooking skills as he prepared a perfect dinner for us. I absolutely recommend this hotel and if we ever come back, we will stay here again. Thank you again for the nice time.

GGuest UserThe trip to Zhaoxing Dongzhai surprised me the most was the homestay I stayed in! From the moment I stepped into the door, I felt full of warmth. The boss is super talkative, warm and caring. He not only recommended authentic Dai food to us, but also helped plan the surrounding play routes, so there is no need to worry about stepping on thunder.
The environment of the homestay is also very good, the room is clean and tidy, the wooden structure decoration is full of Yi style, there are many foods downstairs, you can breathe fresh air by opening the window in the morning, it is too healing! What makes me most happy is that there are many kittens here, and the character is docile and not afraid of life. Every day, it will come back and ask for touch.
Sitting in the living room at night, drinking tea and chatting, listening to the insects in the distance, I feel that the whole person has relaxed. The boss also talked a lot of stories about Dongzhai, as kind as friends.
If you come to Zhaoxing Dongzhai, you must live here! The environment is comfortable, the boss is nice, and there are cute cats as companions.

Room: Good environment and sanitation, open the window to see the lake view, and you can also see the night view of the village gate at night, which is very comfortable.
Service: The front desk lady is very enthusiastic and will pick us up at the station. She will contact us in advance to tell us how to take the bus, which is very good. When we arrived at the store, she also told us the guide to the scenic spot.

MMiss YvetteI booked this at the very last minute and was thrilled with the experience. Situated towards the end of the Village , it allows maximum interaction with the village! The hosts are super hospitable and very responsive. They want over and above to assist,answer questions and personally take me to where I needed to be!
My King Room opened up on the river and had a stunning blessing tree in front with many birds and butterflies. The bedding was soft and super comfy. I loved the natural decor. Breakfast is served in the lobby area and features a tasty style Chinese meal of fruit, veg, congee, and fried eggs, all served by a very smiley chef. The decor and entrance has an art element to it and super peaceful. Great value for money.
