Very Good
GGuest UserA great location for exhibitors – close and within walking distance. This hotel is purely for working in spartan conditions.
Heating is minimal. Cleaning is only upon request, and trash is not taken out. The room has no kettle or iron, no closet, and there's a hanger rod, but no hangers – you'll have to lay your clothes out on the bed. There's no water in the room; there's a water cooler on the floor, but no cups. Hot tea is available at the bar. Breakfast is very modest: no traditional omelette or porridge. In the evening, there's only a bar; there's no food, and there are no restaurants in the area. The only salvation from hunger is a large store 50 meters away that sells everything, including prepared meals, which everyone buys and eats in the lobby.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel is next to the zoo and the train station, and the location is very convenient. It's a hotel with a very period feel. The rooms are heated and very comfortable in winter. Because the shelf is relatively high, the room looks spacious. Compared with many European hotels, the room size is quite large. The hotel has a parking lot, which costs 18 euros a night, which is more convenient for self-driving.
GGuest UserThe hotel is well located, clean and quiet.
Rooms are spacious and well equipped.
Big, comfortable and smell-neutral bed.
Personal friendly and helpful.
No meal booked since early departure
AAnonymous UserIt was a good stay for one month. The staffs are nice except some staffs, clean hotel, good breakfast, very decent according to the price, have overall construction or upgradation work throughout weeks, a little bit noisy for that. But it was good overall. Btw they will charge you security deposit of 10 euro for fan in summer, and city tax 3.5 euro per night.
SSUSAN TOMIf we could give this hotel a review of 10/5 we would. We stayed for an extended time (16 days) and during that time we experienced the best and friendliest service.
The reception staff was always friendly and cheerful. Everyone was ready to help with any question we had.
Breakfast was amazing. The selection was terrific. And every morning we were greeted by the pleasant and happy staff. One staff member told me she loves her job. Who doesn't want to stay in a hotel where the staff love working? Several days my mother who travelled with me was ill and the staff made it so easy for me to take breakfast to her in the room.
The room was terrific. We requested the accessible room and were not disappointed. Despite Ettlingen not being the most wheelchair friendly, Stadthotel Engel had every accessibility need addressed. The front entrance has no stairs. They have an elevator that stops at the breakfast room level. The bathroom in our room was wheelchair friendly with a raised toilet, fully accessible shower, and vanity that could accommodate a wheelchair underneath. We did not have a wheelchair but my mother has a walker which requires many of the same accommodations. The room has air conditioning for those who are concerned about that.
The location is amazing. From the hotel you are directly in the old city and can walk to many stores, cafes, and restaurants. The hotel entrance is located in an inside court area where there are tables that can be enjoyed during the nice weather.
GGuest UserThe location is very good, as it is not in the city but also not too far from it. The cinema is not far away either. The breakfast is sufficient and there is something for everyone. The room is nice and well equipped, but unfortunately there is no closet where you can store your suitcase. But that's not really a problem, there is a wardrobe or something similar with coat hangers. In the bathroom you will find a hairdryer, hygiene bags, tissues and shampoo with shower gel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are enough parking spaces next to the hotel and nearby.
CChuangdangshijieheshidoubuwanTowards the end of my trip, I left some clothes and shoes here and totally forgot my beloved floral hair tie. So sad! Overall, the hotel was quite good, seemingly a corporate-rate hotel or similar. This was the most affordable night of my trip (I didn't book breakfast; if I had, it would probably be the second most affordable). Everything met my expectations, and the transportation was convenient.
GGuest UserNice hotel in the heart of the city , easy to get from the train station to the hotel , also walking distance from karlsruhe schloss , staatliches museum , and Christmas market , located on the town Main Street that is full of shops , restaurants , its common to see people struggle with the check in process can be confusing and not for everyone so they should improve the check in machine

GGuest UserLocation is Uber central. It is infact quite excellently situated. Staff are superb. Very friendly and helpful indeed. The price was very good, and based on that - the value is about as good as it gets in Germany. Room contained a desk, chair, TV, longer chair, bed side lamp, reading lamp, multiple outlets, 2x towel, 1x bath mat and complimentary shampoo soap at the sink and shower. There were multiple radiators at your disposal and tissue paper and bathroom paper. The single room was a good sized with a large window. Everything was clean. There was a place to store bicycles or indeed borrow those offered. Breakfast was available though I didn't try. There is also an elevator. Again...for the price paid it is deserving of 5/5.
