Thank you for the warm hospitality of the owner and his wife. Breakfast and dinner are all local seasonal ingredients. You can also experience the farmwork by the way. I hope to visit again in different seasons.

From the moment we walked in the door to the morning we left we were made to feel completely at home and welcomed like old friends. Everything was so beautifully presented and we slept so well. Receiving tickets to the local Onsen was a lovely surprise. If you decide to only do the breakfast plan we highly recommend making reservations for dinner in local restaurants asap after you arrive as they fill up very quickly. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was attention to detail in presentation and completely delicious 😋. Highly recommended and would definitely love to stay again in a different season to see everything in a different light.

Allison愛體驗The hotel is an old-style 🍽️ hot spring hotel with a quiet environment and free parking.
Although the waiter didn't understand English, he took the initiative to try to solve the problems we needed to solve, which was also good.
The slope outside the hotel is very steep, drivers must be careful
There are no shops outside the hotel, so you need to eat in the hotel. The food is not very delicious, but it is full of Japanese flavor and acceptable.

Guest UserApologies for the rather low score on service but as this is an unmanned hotel, and I had no direct experience of utilising the help line, I could not rate any higher; I did bump into the cleaning ladies, who are doing an excellent job, on my early morning departure, and they were most kind. The hotel is right next to the train station and has its own storage lockers as well as a beautifully maintained lobby with excellent amenities, including vending machines and freely available teas and coffee. The room was well appointed and clean and there was no noise, as expected in a more rural area. The day before check-in, one will receive an email and will be asked to fill out a pre-check in procedure which will produce a QR code necessary when actually checking in at the machines upon arrival-there are no staff on site. This proved seamless for myself, but may be somewhat perplexing or frustrating for older folks or those, like myself, who are not so technologically literate. There is a help button for those who may need it. I was delighted to find that there are coin operated washing/drying machines available. Nearby, there are cafes and bakeries and everything worth seeing is within manageable walking distance. Walking a little further will bring one to some lovely shrines at the end of the town and on the opposite end a beautiful view overlooking the town and the cherry blossom lined river. Having missed cherry blossom season by a few weeks, the view at both sunrise and sunset was worn the extra steps. Do try the local udon, the set pictured was from Machiya Hall and was most delicious.

The room can put up to four floors. The area is still very good. The wet and dry separation. The hot spring is separated by men and women. You can also come to the room at night. The room is also very clean.

The hotel is new and clean. Although the room is small and there is no breakfast restaurant, the service staff are enthusiastic and friendly.
The location is excellent, in the center of Kakunodate, near Samurai House, Hinoki Uchigawa and local specialty restaurants. It was a pleasant stay experience!

NingmengqingThe must-visit cherry blossom and maple viewing place in Akita must be [Kakunodate]. It is also the hometown of samurai with a long history in Japan and is known as ”Olu's Little Kyoto”. But accommodation here is very expensive, especially during the cherry blossom and maple leaf seasons. It is even harder to find a room. During the maple leaf season, I booked a low-cost accommodation four months in advance (Kakunodate B&B Fengya) for ¥996/2 nights including breakfast. So this is one of the few B&Bs. The Japanese female boss speaks English very well and is very enthusiastic. She personally prepares breakfast with local ingredients. She also serves lunch and afternoon tea, and also sells handmade food. The B&B has free bicycle rentals, so you can easily visit all the samurai houses in Kakunokan. Most of the Japanese locals and foreigners who stay here, as well as *********, can speak English. Old people like us from the mainland who cannot speak Japanese or English are purely isolated cases. The landlady was afraid that we might have some problems, so she specially invited Mr. Ren, a retired (Chinese) teacher from Kakunodate University to come and ask us if we had any problems! The boss lady learned that we had to book a taxi to take us to Kakunodate JR Station at 6:30 tomorrow, but the taxi service at Kakunodate starts at 8 o'clock. The boss lady personally took us to the train station despite her busy schedule. I was really touched! However, the B&B does not have a pick-up station service. When we arrived, we took a taxi to the B&B for 800 yen.
