GGuest UserI'm an American here in China studying kung fu for the year and took a trip to Jinan for a short weekend getaway to unwind a bit. I really enjoyed the Atour Light hotel! It's my second time staying in an Atour hotel and I have once again been left wanting for nothing. My Chinese is actually atrocious but the front desk staff was helpful and kind. The room was clean and, I must say, I generally really hate bathrooms and need to wear a pair of slippers just to enter the facility but this has not been the case at either of the Atour hotels I've stayed at. The ambience is great, the amenities perfect for what I was looking for, and the location beyond excellent. Local food stops right outside the gate of the hotel and, if you're a westerner looking for something familiar, McDonald's is right around the corner too. No need for that though, the local feed hits the spot. All that to say, I have no complaints. Great service, great room, great location. 10/10 recommend.

AAnonymous UserHotel is located in the middle of an attraction and therefore accessibilityâs limited. Itâs not near any subway station nor the main room, so you need to call the hotel to pick you up when youâre checking in with luggages.
Location is good though, it is near all the main attractions and we basically walked to all the attractions (20k stepso a day though).
Room is a little small and heater is not consistent.
The view that greets us every morning when we are going out is lovely though, since the hotel is located inside a lovely lake. Breakfast is nothing much to shout about.

GGuest UserThe overall environment is good, and it's not far from Baotu Spring, Daming Lake, and Black Tiger Spring, all within 1.5 km walking distance. Right outside is a pedestrian street. The staff were very friendly and even gave fruits and snacks to my child. It's very suitable if you're traveling with children or elderly people because of its convenient location. One thing to note is that the stairs to the second floor are a bit steep and narrow. Also, a small suggestion: the toilet and shower are transparent, so you can pretty much see each other while brushing teeth, showering, or using the toilet, which is a bit inconvenient. There's an underground parking lot, making parking very convenient, though it's an old city area surrounded by scenic spots, so traffic is definitely an issue. Overall, it's still a good place.

WWaiyuanneifangTraveling through Jinan, our family of four, with older kids, wanted a room with bigger twin beds. This hotel was the only one that offered 1.5-meter twin beds. After checking in, we found it pretty good, and the design features were all very thoughtful! There's a separate toilet and a separate shower, and the room is big enough for our family of four to spread out. The service was very responsive; we requested water twice. The first time, a very high-quality housekeeping staff member brought it over. The second time, we requested water again through the mini-program, and a robot delivered it twice â very considerate! There's also a coffee machine on the first floor, but the coffee flavor was just average.

As I'm from Germany and don't have a Chinese phone, I couldn't get online. The staff went above and beyond, helping me set up internet access on my phone. They even provided me with a delicious breakfast free of charge!
The hotel room was spacious, clean, and came with a super comfortable large bed.
I traveled from Germany to Jinan for surgery, and being able to return to the hotel for a good rest after my operation was a huge relief!
Today, at check-out, they even gave me a lovely pastry as a farewell gift!
Thank you so much for your incredible hospitality! I hope to have the opportunity to visit Jinan again and stay at your hotel once more!

YYinyuwuciFive stars! The hotel facilities are excellent and the location is superb. It's very close to Daming Lake, Kuanhouli, and Furong Street. A special shout-out to Sister Zhou from housekeeping and the lobby staff â they were incredibly responsive to all requests and questions, and even gave a lovely little gift to my child. It was a very heartwarming experience!

XXYZZEven I received a free upgrade for a night the stay was not so comfortable.
First I did not find a pick up at the Airport to the hotel. It was not possible to reach the hotel by Phone.
Second my room was far away from the elevator and the floor a deep carpet.
Third the dinner at the afternoon was 40 RMB more expensive than on the poster advertised. Most of the buffet was a typical hotpot.
The free Shuttle back to the Airport was ok, the rooms are exklusive and great, free Softdrinks, free tea and coffee⊠breakfast might be better.

According to Trip.comâs grading system, The Madison Hotel is listed as a Trip Plus 4-star hotel, but based on our recent stay, we believe it falls short of that rating. While we had a mostly pleasant experience, there were noticeable issues that prevent us from agreeing with the 4-star classification.
The Positives
- Check-in & Staff: The reception team was friendly, and one staff member could communicate a little in English, which was helpful.
- Room Comfort: Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, with a very comfortable bed. The air conditioning worked well and allowed individual adjustment.
- Amenities: We appreciated the complimentary bottled waters and two soft drinks restocked daily in the fridge.
- Location: The hotel is conveniently located inside Wanda Mall, making shopping and dining easily accessible.
The Negatives (Why Itâs Not 4-Star)
- Cleanliness Issues: The room wasnât cleaned to a 4-star (or even 3-star) standard. We found nail clippings on the bedside mat, indicating poor vacuuming.
- Shower Water Pressure: The water pressure in the shower was quite low, which was inconvenient.
- Breakfast Limitations: While the Asian food options were good, there were very few Western choices. Additionally, the Western cutlery felt sticky and wasnât properly cleaned.
- Staff Sleeping at Reception: On our second morning, when we tried to check out early, the reception staff were asleep on the couches. We understand they may have been exhausted, but this is unprofessional for a 4-star hotel.
Final Verdict
The Madison Hotel is a decent option, but weâd rate it as a solid 3-star hotel, not 4-star. If you prioritize location and comfort over luxury service and cleanliness, itâs a reasonable choice. However, management should address housekeeping and staff training to meet higher standards.
Would we stay again? Possibly, but with adjusted expectations.
