"Don't be misled by the somewhat ornate facade of this hotel with its garish gold accents because the interior design is suitably restrained, tasteful and delightful. It offers an immersive Chinese experience with its Zen-like ambience premised on pastel shades and natural wood tones, and accessorised by bonsai decorations and traditional landscape paintings on the walls. On each floor are quaint courtyards that function as tea rooms or music rooms - these cosy respites are also designed around Chinese motifs like bamboo screens and lotus flowers. An excellent touch in the guest rooms are books on Chinese poetry and the Tao Te Ching for relaxing bedtime perusal， as well as fragrant coils to induce a meditative mood or a deep， restful sleep. "Taking advantage of the May Day holiday, I took two days of annual leave early to visit Jinan. After a comprehensive evaluation, I chose this hotel. Right outside the hotel entrance, to the left, is one of the Daming Lake gates. There's an executive suite with a terrace that offers lake views, and the environment is lovely. The front desk is quite small, so if there are multiple guests checking in simultaneously, you might have to wait a bit, which can be slow. The breakfast is quite unique; it's not a buffet, likely due to the hotel's limited space. The restaurant is in the basement, and while it's quiet enough, it feels a bit dim and oppressive; I prefer brighter settings. There are two private rooms that offer direct views of the peacocks kept by the hotel. All the staff wear Hanfu, some of whom are quite beautiful, and the service is attentive. The complimentary snacks were good. Before leaving, I bought some of the hotel's Ejiao dates, pancakes, and Wuhei Shaqima (a type of pastry) as gifts for friends. Overall, it was a good stay, and I'd consider choosing this place again next time. I didn't try the travel photography service, but the complimentary afternoon tea was decent."
