"Except for the under-bed motion activated light that comes on when you get out of bed, this room had all of the poverty and none of the charm of a cheap highway motel one might find in America's southwest desert. There was no fridge, no microwave, no closet, slippery shower, no top sheet on the bed, the room was so small that there was no where to lay out the luggage rack except if you obstructed the entry door to the room. The room safe door would not stay closed when the safe was in standby mode and it would bump against the entry door and its sharp metal corners hurt when bumped into, so we locked it even though we were not using it. There was a hanging bar in the room that was so close to the wall that you could not hang a shirt or jacket without the shoulder rubbing against the wall. Not enough hangers, also. This was our last stay in our time in Portugal and we never had issues with slippery shower floors but this one was not good. The lights in the bathroom were no good for shaving: too high. I am a hot sleeper but need a top sheet to keep drafts off of me. We only had a tucked-in bottom sheet, then the duvet on top, which was too hot for me. We stayed two nights and after the first night we left a note, asking the maid to give us a top sheet; our request was ignored. I haven't even gotten to the most frustrating parts to our stay. Inside our room was a small digital thermostat displaying the temp on its small, round display. There were no instructions on how to set it and, yes, you need instructions because the icons and the places on the display that get touched are not obvious. After changing the settings and fooling with it for a half-hour we could not get the room air conditioning to come on until we discovered a very small, unmarked button on the top of the thermostat (see photo). If the display was at your eye level, the button would be hidden at the top above your eye level. The final inconvenience is that this hotel is sited a Long Way from any interesting tourist areas or the airport and is on none of the municipal tram or bus routes (private bus companies stop nearby). The location of this place is a blessing for Uber. It is a 7 km ride to the nearest tram (15E) or bus stop and twice that far to the Alfama district. The location among industrial office buildings seems to be tucked into an elbow between highways and Ubers approach from the side of the building as frequently as from the front. We were warned about our Uber ride waiting for us while we were standing outside the entrance and the Uber was waiting along the side, out of sight. In summary: what were they thinking?"

"The location is good; you can reach the heart of Lisbon with just one means of transport. Otherwise, look for better options for the same price; you'll definitely find something. I've traveled quite a bit, and I can honestly say this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The mattress was uncomfortable, the room was very humid, the shower was clogged and never repaired, the housekeeping was lacking, hair was on the sheets, the plasterboard partitions between the rooms were audible, and the reception was non-existent. I don't even have a single positive thing to say...horrible."
