"We made a two night stopover in Antsirabe’s Menabel’s hotel while traveling from Antananarivo to Morondava. The initial impact of the property was somehow puzzling to us. Located in a non-impressive suburban location, externally quite new & attractively architected, featuring a pool, internally with a quite curiously mix of traditional and modern furniture & decorations featuring a huge empty corridor on the upper floor, recalling Kubrik’s Hallway scene in the movie “The Shining”. We were told that the hotel is one of the few structure in Antsirabe able to accomodate for meetings and conferences (as a matter of fact they were preparing the salon a conference as we left on the second day). Food and service was good, breakfast is served at the table following a few standard options (i.e. no buffet). Payment of the extras thru credit card was possible without difficulties. Our room was definitively a lot large than expected, clean but unfortunately a bit noisy as it was easily echoing other guests sounds from the corridor and from the outside. The bed was comfortable. We did not experience power outages or water flow hiccups whatsoever. Water for the shower had good flow and was always immediately warm, as provided by a boiler in full sight inside the bathroom. A curtain was somehow limiting the water spreading around while having shower, the tiles became slightly slippery while using shampoo."
