"This is budget accomodation. In no particular order. Good Wi Fi, comfortable bed with a good mosquito net. Room ok size, as was the bathroom. No hot water. A stone throw from the beach and plenty of good quality restaraunts and cafes nearby. Of note was a good hand made jewellery shop, on the main road, which makes silver jewellery. Repairs can also be done at the same shop."

"We had with our family including two children of 9 and 12 surf lessons We went to a beautiful surf spot with the boards on the tuktuk. Sattam was our teacher/ surf instructor and was very friendly and helpful and made us stand on our surfboard for the very first time!!! Sattan, thank you for the great experience I can definitely recommend it!"

"Great experience here with a group of 17 family members. Staff were super and did everything we asked of them. The lift was a little noisy as it stopped at each floor which was a bit irritating and when I reported it to management, they had the very next day a team of technicans call to the Hotel and sort it all, brilliant service. Thanks to Yuri and Haroon in particular for looking after us so diligently, a great team of people working in this Hotel!"

"Our second stay at Hideaway and we loved it, again. Wonderful staff, beautiful established gardens, the sweetest bungalow accommodation with privacy and an immersion in nature. The food is amazing, forever changing delicious options of fresh local produce. "The owner is a huge bluff and a liar. we stayed there for 3 days via booking. We did not receive a bill when paying and he canceled the booking when we were gone to put the booking money in his pocket. We also had to pay 25 euros in tax for 3 days. When we called him later, he kept disconnecting. Definitely not recommended!!!! Plenty of choice in the area"

"yoga eat surf amazing sleep "Fantastic" I loved my stay at star Rest Surf Camp Arugambay , the team or should I say family are so welcoming, just waiting in anyway they can to help! Flexible schedules allow you to enjoy each day how you want to, and did I mention the food...... it is amazing! - healthy and so delicious, we were spoilt for choice at breakfast. Afternoons an excellent coffee (and homemade cake:-) at Loose Keys coffee shop at the entrance was another highlight. Surfing and yoga was great fun to learn with very proficient and patient instructors. If you want to go out in the evening, the team will gladly help to find the right venue. All in all I loved every aspect of my stay!! Can hardly wait to go back! I highly recommend this place to stay in the world 🏡🤝👍🌴"

The only downside was that there was an awful lot of noise above us at five in the morning. It sounded like furniture being moved. Not pleasant to be woken up so early."

"A lovely resort with great customer service. The people running the resort could not do enough to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. The location is a short walk from the beach and restaurants. The It was in a nice quiet area. The rooms were really good and the shower one of the best we experienced in Sri Lanka. There was some building work taking place but we were told about this before we stayed. We didn’t use the pool but it looked great. Once the work has been completed the place will be fantastic, especially for families. I would definitely recommend and would love to return."

"Do not waste your money. Good luck finding the same rude staff member twice. Rarely anyone at reception except tuk tuk drivers. The bathroom is the dirtiest I have ever seen in a hotel. It was way over priced for this area in this condition. If you book in person as we did , and I advise you don't, get a written receipt because it's unlikely there will be a record of your booking at reception. The water in the swimming pool looked like soup. For a fairly new place everything was in disrepair. Broken path tiles, wires sticking out where lights should be, generally a disaster zone. Only positive the air con was cold."

"Terrible and dirty... Driven by the reviews we booked this hotel for 7 nights as the location is excellent in the center of Arugambay and with a swimming pool... But as we saw the rooms we left without even unloading our luggage... Rooms that look like niches due to how small they are, dirty, pillows of indescribable shape and colour, disgusting yellow... I honestly wonder if whoever reviewed this hotel has actually stayed in those rooms..."

"Our stay here was lovely! The hotel is in a good location being a very short 2 min walk to the beach with many restaurants and shops around to go too! The rooms were a good size, clean and the beds were comfy. The mosquito net around the bed is one of the best we have seen and does in fact cover the whole bed. You can choose between AC/non AC when you get there which are different prices. The staff are super friendly, helpful and make sure your stay in the hotel is perfect! I would 100% recommend here to stay!"

"Fawas runs an awesome surf camp at a beautiful part of Arugam Bay, right on the beach, next to the lagoon so you can watch the sunset and sunrise in the same day, also away from all the parties but close enough to walk to all the amenities. The Surf Instruction itself is the best in the area. You feel safe here, the food is awesome, rooms clean, cold and comfortable. If you're looking for a surf camp in Arugam Bay go to these guys."

"We checked into this hotel for a few nights as a stopover. The reception wasn't particularly welcoming. There were also problems with payment and proof of payment. The toilet didn't work initially, nor did the shower. The shower water also sputtered when we turned it on. During our four-night stay, neither the towels nor the bed linens were changed, nor was the bed made. The water wasn't refilled either. All the rooms faced an open corridor, so the noise from the tourist area continued until very late at night. All in all, we wouldn't book here again."

"We enjoyed our stay at the beach bungalows here. We came during off season and they cleaned the pool for us and we had the beachfront bungalow. The breakfast was really good! However, this hotel also operates a liquor store that runs 24/7 right in the middle of the guest rooms so at all hours of the day there were people walking through to buy alcohol (during breakfast time even) and then would sit down on the premises to consume their purchases. As two young travellers it was not a huge deal but if you are a family it might not be the space for you!"
