"We(locals) booked this place as this is a beachfront hotel with good reviews. We booked 1 month in advance (25th Aug) & paid the total amount (USD80 for DBL B&B) as well. But less than 1 week from the day of arrival(28th Sep), they called & informed that they have mistakenly overbooked the hotel and can't accommodate us anymore. I find this highly suspicious as the booking is done via their website, which shows the availability of the rooms. Some hotels tend to do this when they receive a large group of tourists. They tend to cancel the local's booking to accommodate tourists when it was the locals who helped them during the pandemic & economic crisis. They suggested some of their own places as compensation, but those were subpar compared to this place, so we refused ( USD 30 : USD 80) Anyway, i would not recommend this place to anyone, especially if you are a local."

"Fawas runs an awesome surf camp at a beautiful part of Arugam Bay, right on the beach, next to the lagoon so you can watch the sunset and sunrise in the same day, also away from all the parties but close enough to walk to all the amenities. The Surf Instruction itself is the best in the area. You feel safe here, the food is awesome, rooms clean, cold and comfortable. If you're looking for a surf camp in Arugam Bay go to these guys."

"We stayed in a pod and it was great value for money. It also had good AC. The pool was very nice as well, grounds around the site were always maintained to a high standard. The pillows were very comfy but the mattress you could feel the springs. I liked the veranda for sitting on a morning and evening. Also a kettle with coffee and tea would be a good addition for the room. Good location close to bars and restaurants, can be a bit noisey but on a weekend from music close by though. Would stay again! Thanks"

"Good location. The Star Rest surf Camp is situated close to the beach and town is in walking distance. The bed was confortable. There was a fan in the room. Nice terasse to sit. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. The loundry service was faster than I expected."
