Kates Farm Bed and Breakfast
"We were relieved to arrive at Kate's beautiful farmhouse in the evening, especially on a hot day. The thick stone walls keep it cool inside and it was lovely and homely with brick, beams and rough plaster. Kate was welcoming and our ground floor en-suite double opened onto a stunning garden, overlooking the nature reserve and countryside. We enjoyed a lovely cuppa sat outside and woke up to a lovely breakfast and enjoyed a chat with Kate before setting out back along the coast."
The Tytherleigh Arms
"My fault as didn’t check the small print but pub not open Monday and Tuesday for meals which was a real pain. Also breakfast could do with starting earlier in the week as 830am too late for business purposes, finally and a personal view hate self check ins so impersonal. Breakfast was very good"
Hills Farm Stays
"Hill Farm Stays offers a rustic countryside escape with several notable positives. The food was genuinely enjoyable — fresh, hearty, and thoughtfully prepared — and the communication from the staff was prompt and friendly throughout our stay. The bedroom layout was particularly stylish and very comfortable, offering a cozy place to unwind. However, there were several issues that significantly impacted our experience. Most concerning was the lack of hygiene within the on-site restaurant. While a countryside atmosphere is part of the charm, allowing animals to freely enter dining areas — particularly a cat that mingled with guests during meals — was inappropriate and unhygienic. Additionally, the owner's daughter, who appeared to be in charge of serving alcoholic drinks, was doing so without proper measurements. One guest ordered a vodka and coke and was served a pint of coke alongside two 50ml shot glasses of vodka. This not only lacked professionalism but raised safety concerns. The hot tub and sauna facilities were average at best. Their location — poorly sheltered and situated alarmingly close to a horse barn — made it difficult to relax or feel clean. Unfortunately, due to accumulated dust in the room, I developed an eye infection during my stay, which required antihistamines. The situation was highly uncomfortable, and while the owner acknowledged the issue, no responsibility was taken, nor was any refund or compensation offered. For a hospitality service, I found this disappointing. While the stay had its moments — particularly with food, communication, and room comfort — the hygiene issues and lack of accountability diminished what could have been a much more enjoyable experience. I leave my ratings as they stand, with the view that a partial refund would have been appropriate, but was regrettably not provided"
The Old Inn
"Just an overnight stay but such a friendly welcome! Despite the freezing temperatures outside, our room was warm and cosy. Wonderful breakfast cooked to order - will definitely return."
Kerrington House
The Dairy at Wyke Farm
"Wyke Farm is a fantastic place to stay. The accommodation is excellent, beautifully decorated and pristine. The layout is spacious and everything is catered for, from comfy beds to top quality appliances. The Whitakers are consummate hosts being great fun and nothing is too much trouble. The scenery is stunning and the location wonderfully relaxing and picturesque. The whole weekend was amazing and I would strongly recommend this for a family holiday, a quiet getaway or a party. Go for it!"
Cosy Snug Room - Near Lyme Regis - Private Balcony with Country Views & Free Parking
"We arrived at the shabby looking property at 4.10pm. The owners apparently are on holiday in Canada. There was no-one answering the door & the mobile number went straight to answer phone. Eventually in the red hot sun we found a lady sunbathing in a bikini- she was just looking after the dogs and told us to go straight up. What a site met us- more like a residential home with a stale smell, old dingy carpets, a poky little room with a put up bed with sweaty satin quilt cover and pillow . The bottom sheets were like flannalette from the 1960s. The view from the bedroom window was a wilderness of unkept garden. No fresh crisp sheets or nice towels. Everything looked grim & dusty. Although I have lost nearly £600 it is worth it not to stay there! . I question the validity of the reviews."
