Because there is no need to return to Naples the next day to go to Sorrento, it is more convenient to live in Pompeii. Hotels are cheaper than staying in Naples or Sorrento. If the itinerary is the same as mine, from Naples, playing Pompeii on the same day to Sorrento the next day, you can really consider living in Pompeii, affordable and not tired. (side remark about the pompeii archeological park, when you walk towards the entrance, there will be a lot of people telling you all the things to lure you to join their tour or get a skip the line tickets and audio and etc. don't believe in what they say. just reserve your ticket from the website or get it at the entrance.) the hotel staff are very friendly, gave us a map and told us the relevant info of the pompei town, where to eat, where is the stations, and etc. breakfast is also good. the room is a bit old and the bathroom is really small. maybe there are some better rooms but the one we booked was small.
