Talaia Plaza Ecoresort
"It’s a real shame to write this as the location of this resort is lovely (if extremely hilly) and the beach is ok. There are much nicer beaches on the costa brava. The hotel is just all over the place and every day is different. We unfortunately booked half board and the food was terrible. The continental breakfast was ok, noting you could not have bought at the supermarket and eaten on your own terrace (yoghurt, fruit, cereal, toast etc) but anything cooked was an absolute mess. Every egg I ordered all holiday (fried, poached, scrambled) was raw and cold and no matter how hard the lovely wait staff tried to get the chefs to do this properly, it never happened. The evening meal was the same, very pared down menu for all 11 nights we were there, the food was so bad it was laughable and everything tasted of the lighting fluid used to light the wood burning BBQ (not very environmentally friendly, but then I am not sure what is identifiably environmentally friendly, I couldn’t find one thing). Everything was so heavy and covered in oil, the food seemed so outdated, no lovely fresh, light cooking with the considerable local ingredients. The deserts were ridiculous, the home made ice cream came as slip and tasted awful and the lemon posset for some unknown reason repeatedly came topped with the mornings cereals (coco pops and special K). Every family we spoke to who had eaten there were really unhappy, especially those on half board. We are out a lot which doubled the price of our meals but we just couldn’t face the food which is really saying something as we are pretty easy to please with food. For some reason, right at the end of our stay we could not come down for breakfast when we wanted as they had imposed a booking system which we were not privy to until it had already booked up. The restaurant staff are absolutely lovely and trying their best (working way longer hours than they should) but the reception staff were not great. Our room was only cleaned twice in 11 days and I had to hassle them multiple times to get that done. The cabins are TINY and as a family of four, we really struggled with space. This break cost us 4k for the accommodation and you can get SO much more and better for that. It felt like we were roughing it and camping, when we had paid 4 times what we paid on the Costa brava last year for a nice hotel. I would avoid unless you want a very basic, camping style break (and if so, don’t go half board and don’t pay as much as we did, you’ll be really disappointed). "

"We stayed at this lovely hotel for four nights in October and what a little gem it is. The hotel bears testimony to the fact that Bernardo, the owner is there in person, taking an interest in everything and looking after the welfare of his guests as well as ensuring standards are tip top. Our room was spacious and super comfortable. The pool is fantastic, one of the best I have ever used. Breakfast was superb, especially the homemade yoghurts and lovely omelettes. We really enjoyed our stay and Bernardo gave us many good recommendations for restaurants and things to do and see in the area. Thank you."

Hotel Aigua Blava
"Hotel in a magnificent setting with lovely views of the sea. Tennis court, swimming pool, table tennis, badminton available. Small beach accessible at the bottom of the hotel. Hiking trails, golf and small village of Begur also nearby. Very good breakfast. We will come back for sure!"
Parador de Aiguablava
"Fantastic hotel in a very remote location in Begur, Costa Brava. The hotel is beautiful and if you are happy with relaxing at your accommodation for your stay, then this is very ideal. The staff however in general are far from ideal. Many have an arrogant persona from the start and often give off the impression they are doing you a favour by simply doing their job. The rooms are beautiful with great scenic views but lack the basic amenities that basic hotels would offer. Overall a beautiful hotel, just let down by a mixture of inept and incompetent staff."
Bypillow Cluc Begur
"The hotel room was on the ground floor with a window facing the street, but very little light came in. There was a chair, a toilet with a sink, and plastic shower curtains. Only two bath towels were provided, and no hand towels. The room was tiny, and we could hear other people coming and going from the hotel, making a lot of noise. The house was very old with high ceilings, and the lamp in the room was barely visible. We sent our information by phone, and they gave us the access codes. We didn't see anyone from the hotel at any point. The whole experience was very depressing and overpriced. The only positive aspect was its proximity to the town center."

"Great hotel, felt like a relaxing hospice (the music in the hotel). Very old but that’s the charm. The design of the hotel is really beautiful! They took the old hotel and added luxurious furniture that really complements it, with romantic lighting. I will attach pictures later. The room was large, the parking was very convenient, the fact that there is an electric shutter is really a plus, and the fact that there are two sinks is also nice. The place is clean, but there is an ant problem there. Once we closed the shutter, ants did not enter the room, but there were plenty of ants on the balcony. What really bothered me was that the bed was very hard, the pillows were made of foam and not feathers, and there was no thick blanket, just sheets that served as a blanket. The pool is really nice, but it’s cold and not heated, and there isn’t even a hot Jacuzzi, which is a bit disappointing. There is no gym, which is also disappointing. The breakfast is adequate but very meager; there are no pancakes, a variety of vegetables, or soft cheeses. In my opinion, the price is a bit high for what you get, but the hotel was nice and sufficient for our taste."
Hotel Convent de Begur
"A very beautiful garden of peace renovated with tasty place outside the time. The swimming pool is pleasant breakfast on the terrace. The room is comfortable. The staff is very pleasant. We have spent a very good stay. Free parking nearby."
