Royal Ushaka Hotel Morningside
8.2 (37 reviews)

Royal Ushaka Hotel Morningside ★★★

📍 298 Percy Osborn Rd, Berea

"Nice, ideal for ordinary mortals interested only in sleeping and not obsessed with the frills of opulence "

Mackaya Bella Guest House
9.2 (13 reviews)

Mackaya Bella Guest House ★★★★

📍 137 Penzance Road, Berea

"The room was extremely dirty (see pictures), poorly maintained and did not match the advertised photos. It had an unpleasant smell, heavy rusted fixtures and kitchen appliances (fridge) and not adequately cleaned for a visitor, doors, blinds, everything was dirty except bedding."

268 on Ridge Guesthouse
7.8 (307 reviews)

268 on Ridge Guesthouse ★★★

📍 268 Mazisi Kunene Rd, Berea

"This accommodation is basic but neat and comfortable. We arrived late in the evening but there was someone waiting to receive us. The garden rooms are small but we were just looking for a decent shower, toilet and a comfortable place to sleep. There is DSTV. The parking was fine and safe. Some items like furniture may need some repair or replacement. I can overlook the minor repair issues based on the need just to have a clean and neat place to sleep over"

Madeline Grove Bed & Breakfast

Grange Gardens Hotel
7.0 (47 reviews)

Grange Gardens Hotel ★★★

📍 27 Innes Rd, Morningside, Durban, Berea

"This property on my third night which I paid for, I didn’t have electricity till the next day I had to check out , there was no back up for electricity, I wasted my money honestly am hurt. I didn’t even bath on my check out day because of no back up and on top of everything I was not communicated with that’s there’s even a problem I had to be the one arguing with people in reception. The manager can’t even deal with the tenants she ran away instead on communication. "

Roseland House
8.4 (161 reviews)

Roseland House ★★★★

📍 291 Helen Joseph Rd, Bulwer, Berea

"The property lacked privacy; upon arrival, excessive noise and people drinking by pool created an immediate sense of discomfort. Insufficient parking was also a significant issue. Furthermore, the air conditioning units were non-functional, and televisions were absent from both the bedrooms and the living area."

"We had a very nice time in Durban-largely thanks to Nicki and her husband. We’re from the US but living in Cape Town for 3 months for work and took a weekend getaway to Durban. The guesthouse was a lovely base for the weekend - comfortable and roomy, with excellent breakfasts! In particular, however, the advice from Nicki on places to eat, places to visit, and getting around safely was invaluable. So much online about Durban is out of date, having a knowledgeable, trusted advisor like Nicki is a necessity. Plus, she and her husband are absolutely lovely people!"

"Smaller than expected. As you walk in. Greeted by a nasty disgusting sweat stained couch that looks like it was brought from a dump. When I asked the host to please bring a blanket to cover the couch. They said sure thing. And never returned. Toilet was cracked. Shower door on last legs. Bedroom and bathroom the walls and ceiling where moulded. Bed had stains in it. The blanket ontop of the bed was very used and abused. Then other tenants just come home at all times of the evening and morning making hell of a noise. 3 good things. Bed was comfy. Shower was amazing besides the door. And Sanele who checked us out on Saturday morning was very very pleasant to deal with. "

"Apart from the good reception we received when we arrived, the main house where extra commodities would be a necessity was a bit of a challenge as I didn't know where to go but I conviniently was able to chat with them on whatsapp. I'm just requesting a microwave in the room especially rooms on the outside. "I love this place. It is simple and clean. Nice they have tables and chairs outside by the pool to chill at night. Location is great! It is near Florida Rd. So this place is surrounded by restaurants. The staff is super friendly. I forgot to take photos of the room. The room is clean and I love the room design. Great value for money too! Will definitely go back."
