"Convenience"
Tateshina Grand Hotel Takinoyu
"We checked in on January 28th for three nights and booked three rooms, two of which included breakfast. However, the hotel front desk only left an elderly waiter who did not speak English after 9pm, which caused great inconvenience in communication. The most unsatisfactory thing was that on the morning of check-out, the front desk insisted that none of our rooms included breakfast and asked for an additional 15,000 yen breakfast fee. In desperation, we asked a driver who had lived in Japan for 20 years to come and communicate in Japanese, but the attitude of the front desk was very bad, and he directly said, "You just don't have breakfast, pay up quickly, don't make trouble." Such an attitude, even when facing a driver who has lived in Japan for a long time and speaks fluent Japanese, does not take objective facts into consideration. In the end, we negotiated for an hour to clarify the misunderstanding, and the hotel returned the extra money to us. This experience is really disappointing, especially when traveling during the New Year. It is really bad and disgusting to encounter such a service attitude. It is worth mentioning that the hotel facilities, hot springs and rooms themselves are very good, but the service attitude of the front desk is really disappointing. Another typical example is that one night I forgot to bring my room card, and went to the front desk to request a replacement, saying that I would return it after finding the original card. But the elderly waiter at the front desk refused to give me the room card and insisted on going upstairs with us in person and returning it to us after we found the card in the room. He even acted impatient and said that he was busy and asked us not to disturb him. Overall, the hardware conditions of this hotel are good, but the service quality of the front desk is extremely poor. If you pay more attention to the service experience, it is recommended to consider it carefully."
Tiny Garden Tateshina- Camp, Lodge & Cabins -
"Clean and friendly"
Tokyu Vacations Tateshina
"A near-perfect choice for family trips, best suited for road trips, and offers excellent value for money."
Sawaemon
"The location is great and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this hotel for people who like Japanese food. The dining area is partitioned off like a semi-private room, so you can dine in peace. You can use the open-air bath for free for 40 minutes. There is a sunken kotatsu table in the room."
Hotel Wakamizu
"The countryside experience was great."
Shirakabako Hotel Paipuno Kemuri
"The room smells of cigarettes and kids run around the hallways"
Sundance Resort Tateshina
"There are several ski resorts near the hotel, one of which has a children's playground, making it perfect for family road trips."
Tateshina Tokyu Hotel
"The hotel's surroundings are beautiful, like a park. It was already evening when we arrived. After checking in and wanting to go to the restaurant for dinner, they didn't accept guests without reservations, even if you were staying at the hotel. As a result, we couldn't find a restaurant to eat at because the hotel was far from other restaurants."

Guesthouse Kreutzer
"The owners are very warm and welcoming. Even though I became ill and collapsed, causing them inconvenience, they treated me with such warmth, and I was truly grateful. The food was also delicious. A squirrel came to visit every morning. The amenities were also great. I would love to stay again."
Sky Park Hotel
"The view from the hotel was spectacular, and I found the breakfast and dinner buffets to be delicious. However, I think you should be a little careful about the access. Access to Kurumayama Kogen Ski Resort is honestly not a problem as there is a shuttle bus from the hotel. However, if, for example, the courses at Kurumayama Kogen Ski Resort are closed due to insufficient snow, you might want to go to another ski resort near Lake Shirakaba. In that case, the bus connections might not line up, and you might have to splurge on a taxi, which presents access problems."
Hotel Harvest Tateshina
"This is my second time staying here. The last time was before COVID, so this was my first time in a while, but as soon as I entered the room, there was a strange smell. There was an unfamiliar smell, like some kind of spice, that stank my nose and throat, so I contacted the front desk because this was not good. An employee came immediately, but said that he could not smell anything. In the end, they changed me to a room two rooms away, but it also smelled faintly. When I went to the hot spring and returned to the room, it smelled, and when I came back to the room after eating, it smelled... As a result, only the room was emitting a mysterious smell, which was unpleasant. It didn't seem like anyone else was complaining about the same thing, so I just had to put up with it for one night. I would really like to give it one star, but the service from the young female employee at the restaurant was good, so I'll give it three stars."
Shikino Yado Subaru
"Reasonably priced, 8,800 yen including two meals. It's not exactly frugal, but the meals are a set course and they serve hot food. The rooms are clean, and there are no trash cans, so you have to take your trash home with you. Above all, it's great that you can use the hot springs 24 hours a day. Make sure to listen carefully to the instructions on how to use the bath. 😆 Amenities include bath towels, which are 300 yen to rent, and face towels and toothbrushes, which you can request and check if they're free. Is it worth it for that price? The owner is friendly."
Tateshina Ai
"The waiters are very friendly and will try their best to help you solve your problems. The food portions are a little too large, but the hot springs are still very good, parking is also very convenient, and the scenery is beautiful when it snows!"
Tateshina Shinyu Onsen
"The place is amazing. Very relaxing and chilling. Dishes were wonderful. Bit freezing at night, but we didn’t know about the heater. So informing about the possibilities should be improved"
B&B Nomanomori
"It was a pension located in a very quiet forest. The couple's thoughtfulness and the wife's smile were lovely. The welcome drink and cake were very nice and warming. I was surprised that there was no air conditioning in the room even though it was summer, but it was really cool and I slept comfortably. The room had an antique feel and the lighting was cute, and the massage chair in the shared bath was very comfortable. It's a fond memory. Thank you."
Tateshina Park Hotel
"The room was nice and spacious. The meal was kaiseki cuisine, plentiful and delicious. The staff members also responded politely and seemed to do their best. I would definitely like to come if I have a chance."
Little Grebe
"Cozy yet comfortable! Will stay here again!"
Kimimachisou
"The hot springs were beautiful and the hotel staff were very kind. I would like to come again."
Tateshina Base
"The facility itself is new, and the room with a private hot spring bath was comfortable. However, the front desk staff were unenthusiastic from the moment we arrived, and for some reason, we kept hearing doors opening and closing repeatedly between 2 and 3 a.m. (presumably the sound of employees coming and going?), which was so noisy that we couldn't sleep. We ate at the attached Italian restaurant, but they forgot our cutlery and made many careless mistakes when we ordered, so I would say the service was not good. The food was delicious, which made it all the more disappointing. I don't think I'll be staying there again."
Yama No Yado Meiji Onsen
"My GF's review: My stay in Meiji Onsen Ryokan was my first stay at a ryokan, and I’ve never felt more welcome at any other hospitality place I’ve been to before, of which there are many. And even after the first day, I am pretty sure it will probably stay this way forever. I am very grateful for your kind welcome and I am amazed at the work that the team of your hotel does at this place. Everything feels natural and beautiful, and the atmosphere is so peaceful and special. People who work here are passionate about their job, and as a passionate person myself I feel energized and happy to see others be so amused about what they do. I will always remember my first stay here and I will compare other ryokans I go to with Meiji Onsen Ryokan, because I feel that it’s the best ryokan in Japan. Thank you so much for this amazing experience. And Okami-chan is the best girl in all of Nagano! When I come back home, I will tell everyone who she is and where she is from - Meiji Onsen Ryokan, Chino, Nagano, Japan! 🇯🇵 (As a fantastic bonus, it’s even allowed to go in with uncovered tattoos! Not every ryokan can match up to that!)"
Yutorelo Tateshina Hotel with Dogs
"We were lucky to be able to make a reservation on the day (^.^) There were no restaurants nearby, so we drove around and found a Coop. We enjoyed a bento dinner. The room was spacious, so we were able to relax together as a couple and one other person."
