"Carole & I stayed at the Book Nook Inn in Lumberton 9 mi north of Beaumont for our fifth anniversary last week. It was phenomenal. The place just goes on and on. Inside the giant living room is a 2 and 1/2 story wood ceiling and it reminds me of the inside of a mountain lodge. We stayed in a separate three-story building on the top floor in the Steampunk Room. It was so cool. There were all these Steampunk relics and other period pieces. They have five rooms and every one has a different theme. There's a really nice pool, plenty of decks and a small lake. It also serves as a great wedding venue for a small to medium size wedding. Stacie and Dave are the warmest, friendliest most accommodating hosts. The breakfast is so delicious. It's surrounded by trees and we really felt close to nature. It's only 9 mi north of Baytown. If you want to get it away from it all, be in nature and be pampered, this is a place to go. The price is very reasonable."

OYO Pinewood Inn & Suites Silsbee

"Booked this hotel through Priceline for $55, which I thought was a good deal for a very basic hotel when there are no other hotels in this town. When I arrived, first of all, I had to call to be able to access reception. Then they refused to honor my booking, saying they don't take online bookings and "they need to take that down." This hotel is on all the websites - Priceline, **********, Booking, OYO, etc. They charged me $80 and I had to spend almost an hour on the phone to get Priceline to refund what I had paid them. They would not cover the difference or even a partial amount. This hotel is still available on all of these websites despite me reporting it to Priceline twice and OYO. The hotel itself was very low quality with people hanging around outside day and night. There were roaches in the room. There was no chair, although they did provide one for me when I asked. 2 staff members let themselves into my room at one point saying they thought it was empty. I am unable to leave a review on Priceline as the booking was canceled so the review option is not there, but there are numerous negative reviews and a lot of them have had the same experience as me with booking online and then being overcharged on arrival - these are going back to Sep 2022. I have escalated this to Priceline so I hope that they will eventually remove the hotel and at least in the meantime people may check reviews before booking and decide to go elsewhere as I would have done if I had checked myself. "
