"This hotel is located about 1km before the Asahidake Ropeway. It's a bit hard to get to without a car, but we took bus number 66 from Asahikawa Station Bus Terminal, stop 9. Being in a remote mountain area, there are no convenience stores. The lobby on the first floor sells simple snacks and beer, but I recommend buying these in advance from the city. The hotel has an old mountain lodge feel (it’s a place with history and tradition, apparently over 100 years old). It seems they have some kind of agreement with Switzerland. It looks like it was recently renovated and expanded, with a main building and an annex. The first-floor lobby has a restaurant for breakfast and dinner, a cafeteria exclusively for guests (with unlimited water, tea, and coffee), a lounge area with a fireplace, and hot springs. The staff are, of course, incredibly friendly. We stayed in the main building, and the room was quite spacious and comfortable. The room only has a sink for washing hands and a toilet. There's a safe, a toilet with a state-of-the-art bidet, and a large window that can be opened for ventilation. Unfortunately, the wall-mounted TV isn't a smart TV. There's a hairdryer, refrigerator, table, and desk, and the bed is quite large and comfortable. There are a total of three themed hot springs. The annex has an outdoor hot spring called 'Annex Jang,' which has one outdoor bath and two indoor baths, for a total of three baths. It's available from 7 AM, excluding cleaning time until noon. The outdoor bath is less than 3 pyeong (about 100 sq ft), but it was snowing at the time, so I enjoyed a warm soak. The main building has the Yukoman and Shikoro baths. Yukoman has about three baths, and Shikoro has six, with different water colors and temperatures, allowing you to move around and try them all. Shikoro, in particular, has large moss-covered rocks within the baths, with the interior designed to replicate that natural environment, making you feel like you're soaking in nature. These baths are cleaned from 9 AM to 3 PM, and the male and female baths swap between 8:45 PM and 9 PM. This hotel was satisfying just for its dinner and breakfast. The Japanese course meals, made with ingredients produced in Hokkaido, were a delightful experience, allowing us to taste the natural flavors of the ingredients. I particularly enjoyed looking up the ingredients on the timetable and savoring them. It was even better that the female server explained everything kindly in English. I want to visit again next season. It was a wonderful one-night stay."

"This guest house is located near Mount Asahidake (15 min walk uphill to Ropeway). It has a nice common area for cooking and preparing your meal. There are also fridges to store your food, along with all cooking utensils. One must buy their own food before coming here, as there is not even 1 single convenience store. Bus stop just in front of the hotel."

"It would be perfect if the kitchen had some soy sauce and seasonings on hand. Also, it's a bit of a shame that we have a washing machine but no laundry detergent."

"The room was as described. It had a separate shower and toilet area (the washing machine and bathroom were on the second floor), and the toilet was on the first floor. There were two beds downstairs and two upstairs, as well as a small kitchenette for cooking. There was also a library on the first floor, where children could read while their parents were busy."

La Vista Daisetsuzan ★★★★
"We love the room. It was cozy and clean. You can choose private or public onsens. We love the public one more. Both were free of charge. You can drink vinegar and enjoy the ramen after onsen. Food jn buffet was great, with fresh sashimi. So close to the cable car station that you can walk over there. You can park in hotel (free) or park next to the cable car station (charged)."

K's House Hokkaido ★★★
"I’ve heard about K’s through a hiking blog. It was a highly recommended base to do hikes around Asahidake Onsen. The location of the guesthouse couldn’t be more perfect- walking distance to the ropewa and also in between the local hikes around the area. The best part of staying at K’s were the volunteers. Maria, in particular, makes sure that the guests are comfortable and attended to. She even informed me of a local festival. The onsen area is also so nice- perfect to wrap up the day in after a long hike. My only suggestion would be to keep the onsen available at least up to the 11am check out time (it’s closed between 9am-3pm for cleaning which I understand also). All in all- great experience!"

Higashikawa Asahidake Onsen Hotel Bear Monte ★★★★★
"If you have the budget, it's best to book a superior twin room or higher, rather than a single room. Besides being spacious, the bathroom and toilet are spacious and have a separate toilet, providing a better user experience. This hotel is the closest to the Asahidake Ropeway entrance and is very newly decorated. However, there are no convenience stores nearby, and the rooms lack air conditioning or, if it was turned on, it didn't work. All three rooms we booked had this problem. The temperature was over 26 degrees Celsius at night, with a humidity of 60%. Those who are heat-sensitive should avoid this option. Overall, it's acceptable, but a bit pricey, making the value for money a bit lacking."
