"Houay Xai doesn't have a ton of overnight lodging options besides basic backpacker places, but Oudomphone was perfectly fine for our one-night stay before our Mekong river cruise. Very basic room and bathroom but everything worked and was reasonably clean. Hard pressed to do better for $16/night USD!"

"Location of the guest house is really good since it’s surrounded by different businesses and a few decent restaurants. Most of the businesses around the area get you bus, boat or van tickets to different cities of the country and are in the walking distance. We stayed at this place for one night since we were very tired of border crossing. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Staff speak good English so everything was smooth. Pretty basic room and bathroom but since listed as a guest house, it delivers. Really good air conditioning and a ceiling fan. Small but a decent flat screen TV. Really good and fast WİFİ. Got ourselves a balcony with the street view. Bed had a comforter which is well thought after. We stayed at room 203 and we couldn’t get the hot water to work. Free toothbrush and free water bottles were provided. Room and the bathroom were really clean. We had a good quick stay therefore we recommend."

"Let's start with the positives first, the location is good, and the price is cheap. Other than that, a nightmare. That was by far the dirtiest hotel room I've stayed in SEA so far. Most items looked like they were never cleaned since the hotel was built. Downstairs there was some weird general store full of dust and an empty restaurant. Don't stay here if possible."
