"This was my husband and I'd our first hot spring trip to Japan, so we chose a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) that wasn't too far from the city center. It's about a 35-45 minute taxi ride from the airport (depending on traffic), or about 1-2 hours by public transport, and about a 35-minute taxi ride from Fukuoka city center. The hotel was incredibly clean. Japanese tatami mats and carpets were laid throughout, so shoes weren't allowed; only socks were permitted (provided by the hotel or you could bring your own). It was a very new and clean experience. The hotel has a family-style hot spring bath, allowing families to enjoy the bath together. It's the only room where you need to wear the provided Japanese tatami slippers (reservations are required in advance). Because the hotel is located in a relatively quiet area, a 7-Eleven or Lawson convenience store is a 15-minute walk away (the distance is acceptable). In addition, the hotel provides a complete set of items and clothing for bathing in the hot spring, making it convenient to simply put on your bath bag and enjoy the bath – very thoughtful! However, it would be ideal if the hotel provided more towels in the room, making it easier to use the other baths on the hotel grounds without having to ask room service to deliver them every time. When booking a hotel, be sure to book breakfast and dinner in advance, as there are restaurants a 20-30 minute walk from the hotel. This trip was solely for experiencing a hot spring ryokan (traditional Japanese inn), and I was extremely satisfied. I would definitely consider returning for a longer hot spring ryokan experience."
