"the hotel is located in a small road and very difficult to find. from the pics and the rates which are comparable to marriotts, it appeared upscale. the location is terrible it is located in middle of some mall. the rooms are okay but bed uncomfortable. the pillows are big and bulky, only for looks. also there was rotten dead animal smell in room that wouldn't go away if we switch off AC. AC was do loud next to bed. shower didn't work and who knows how to make it work as the hotel people argued later it worked fine. we tried everything.. "

"We stayed 3 nights at Neeleshwar Hermitage plus another 2 nights on their houseboat (see separate review of Lotus Houseboat). Both stays were fantastic. The Hermitage is set amongst coconut trees on the deserted Ozhinhavalappu Beach. It provides superb accommodation, a fabulous infinity pool, brilliant service, yoga classes, a warm sea to play in and a free consultation with an Ayurvedic doctor. There is a choice of two restaurants. We opted to have all our meals at the beachfront seafood restaurant overlooking the Arabian Sea. The food was exceptional, especially the daily Keralan special made from the local fishermen's catch of the day. If you're looking for a relaxing & rejuvenating few days at the end of your adventure across India, Neeleshwar Hermitage & the Lotus Houseboat are for you."

"This should be a top tier resort,however there are areas which require attention. The resort boasts 2 restaurants whereas in fact most of the time the only choice is a rather expensive buffet. The pool,rooms and location are good, but service needs a little attention."
