Komoro Grand Castle Hotel

Komoro Grand Castle Hotel

📍 1 Chome-1-5 Kojo, Komoro
★★★ 7.4 (15 reviews)

"I stayed in room 421 on the 6th, the last day of Golden Week. It is a large 8-story building, less than 5 minutes from Komoro IC on the Joshinetsu Expressway, and just before JR Komoro Station, there is the Nostalgic Garden of Komoro Castle. The parking lot is underground and can be accessed from the right side of the entrance or from the left rear of the Nostalgic Garden, with space for 70 passenger cars. There is an elevator that takes you up to the 8th floor. The 1st floor is the front desk, a shop and a karaoke (DAM) room (shared), the 3rd floor is the dining area, the 4th floor is the Komoro Onsen bath (with low-temperature sauna), table tennis, relaxation room and guest rooms, and the 5th to 8th floors are guest rooms. A bathing tax of 150 yen per person is required in addition to the prepaid accommodation fee. Dinner time is specified and starts at 6:30 p.m. with all-you-can-drink for 90 minutes, and you must present your room key. Breakfast is served by submitting a meal ticket, and the buffet is replenished with food until the end without any problems. The bath is located up about 20 steps from the 4th floor entrance. There are 8 showers and an indoor bath with no open-air bath. The bathtub is not large, but it is a flowing bath. The rooms do not have digital terrestrial TV, Wi-Fi, refrigerators, hair dryers, amenities, or towel racks. There is also no automatic ice machine. There are only two front desks, so it is inevitable that it will be difficult to use during busy periods."

"The room is nice, clean and tidy. Even the hote.is not located in the city centre, we can still find some good restaurants, super market and convenience store nearby."

Nakadanaso

📍 1210 Otsu, Komoro
★★★★ 9.1 (7 reviews)

"First of all, looking at the area, it is a place that cannot be reached without a car. However, considering the cost of accommodation in Karuizawa, it can be an alternative. There are no other accommodations nearby and it is hidden like a hidden gem. A special feature is apple soup, and an open-air bath is also available. To enjoy Baan Hot Springs, you have to climb about 50 stairs. Also, because the old building and the new building are separated, there is a big difference in price. In cheap old buildings, bathrooms are shared and quite cold. If possible, I recommend staying in the new building. If you refer to the website, you can take a winery tour for free."

📍 4766-2 Ko, Komoro

"It was my first time here, and it seems it was 20 years or more since my boyfriend's last visit, but the food and baths were good and I was very satisfied (*^^*) The dog was cute too ♡ It was an inn that made me want to come back!"

Hishino Onsen Yakushikan

Hishino Onsen Yakushikan

📍 740, Hishidaira, Komoro
★★★ 6.0 (2 reviews)

"The building has a retro feel, with a cave-like interior bath that gives off an early Showa/Taisho period vibe. However, the ceiling of the passageway was covered in mold and some parts were missing. The bathroom was also covered in moss, and I wondered if it was ever cleaned. There were three bathtubs, 41℃/32℃/14℃ (cold water), and I realized the unexpected effectiveness of the cold bath, but the water at 32℃ was not circulating and I felt uncomfortable, so I hesitated to soak in it. There is an outdoor bath called "Kumonosuke" that can be accessed by cable car from Tokiwakan, which is a few minutes' walk away, and it is free to enter, but other than the view, there was nothing particularly impressive about it. The worst part was the food, and I couldn't help but think that it was only 20,000 yen per night for the amount and quality. Especially the breakfast, it was so good that I could make it much more delicious in a short time if I made it myself. The employees were all students, so they didn't even greet me. The person in charge of food seemed to be the owner, but he was completely alone and left the customers alone. He was also not very friendly. I think they should think a little about how they run the place and how they manage it. A return visit is unfortunately not possible."

"We LOVED our stay here! The hosts are incredibly kind and attentive to any need you may have. We had access to a private bath which was wonderful. Breakfast was prepared specifically for us and was delicious. The hosts gave us lots of tips for good food and activities in the area, and even helped make reservations for bike rentals. Highly recommend staying here, it was worth every penny."

"It was very clean and the staff were very polite. There is a 7-Eleven nearby, but you need to walk about 10 minutes to get to a place to eat near Komoro Station. Breakfast and a large public bath are included, so I'm very satisfied with the price."

"I stayed here to see the autumn leaves at Kaikoen Garden. There was a wide variety of food at the buffet both in the evening and in the morning. There seemed to be a lot of families staying here. The quality of the hot spring was good, and although the sauna was low temperature, I was able to thoroughly sweat it out."

"The purpose of the trip was to meet up with friends. I booked this hotel because I wanted to stretch out my legs and sleep as a family of three. The hotel is just a 20-second walk from Komoro Station, and parking is available for free at the affiliated coin parking lot in front of the station. The room window faced the station, so I was able to see it, so there was no need to worry. The room was from the Showa era, but it was clean, had no smell, and the shower had good water pressure and was comfortable. The free coffee was a treat."

"We visited the inn as a historical site. Its name is pronounced "Kumeya." It was previously in almost untouched condition, but with the help of a subsidy, it has been renovated and is now open for business as an inn. There are five rooms, most of which are Japanese-style rooms with tatami flooring, but there are also rooms with beds. The garden in the courtyard was also magnificent. Incidentally, it seems that the Kaga Maeda clan also used the inn as a purveyor. However, the lord stayed in the main inn, while the waki-honjin was for senior officials."
