Hotel Don Abbondio

"Since my first visit in 2018, I always stay at Hotel Don Abbondio when I am working near Lecco. Staying here is akin to receiving an enormous hug! The hotel is family run and, as such, you will receive a welcome as though you are part of the family! Giuseppina greets you with a smile and will stop whatever she is doing, pop on a jacket and help you find a place to park. It is street parking but not more than a 2 minute walk. Luciano is an absolute gentleman and, if you ask, will perform a concert for you in the lobby. Luciano is an organist and an excellent one at that. The hotel is old style; expect a personal welcome as opposed to a generic check-in, expect classic functional rooms with everything you need and know that you will leave Hotel Don Abbondio with memories and stories to tell. Luciano and Giuseppina are charismatic, endearing and will do everything they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible. There are rooms with balconies, restaurants and supermarkets nearby and the lake is waiting for you outside the front door. Seriously, an absolute gem. If you visit Lecco, stay here."

"I stayed in this hotel for one night, wonderful location, friendly staff. Nothing to say about the breakfast other than that it was basic but usable, unfortunately I had been advised that I no longer needed a double room but rather a single but they told me that there was no problem. The problem arises instead at the payment because, remaining assigned to the double room, I therefore find myself paying double. I found it incorrect as I notified well in advance and since the hotel was not full there was certainly a single room! So I decided not to return and I won't return in the future either because honesty always pays. Not recommended for this reason!"

"In the photo a beautiful location. But to find this after 8 pm in the dark and get there is a real nightmare. The rooms also had walls of gingerbread, you could hear everything from every neighbor above or below you. We also had breakfast, but when we arrived we were not told anything about this. I have never experienced anything so deceptive and we have been traveling since the 90s several times a year, so it is not that we are novices. But we searched too late for a room and ended up here because it said "With parking", a unique criterion that we pay attention to. But how to get to the parking lot in the dark, they can explain to me, even after looking at several route planners."

"Great location. Great bathroom - with a bath! Bliss… Fridge not working. Blackout blinds had no strap to operate. Lots of keys (entrance from street, entrance to property, entrance to room). No reception area and had to call on the day to get access. But - I would book again!"
