Six Senses Crans-Montana

Six Senses Crans-Montana

📍 Rte des Téléphériques 60, Lens
★★★★★ 8.9 (65 reviews)

"This is a new build that just opened in March. It is in a very convenient location next to a ski run/bike road (so it is ski-in ski-out and bike-in bike-out). It is also just above and an easy walk to the Cry d’Er Gondola and Crans. It appears (I don’t know) that there were design challenges fitting it into its location, which may account for some of the comments below. The facilities are obviously quite new and modern. The lobby, restaurants, and rooms are open and airy - very modern combined with mountain traditional and outdoor themes. The rooms are large, comfortable and well-equipped. The bathroom is large (although the tub being in the center looks cool it is a bit in the way). Our room (and the rooms on our side of the hotel over a number of floors) have large terraces and full window walls. The views aren’t great, though - overlooking the ski run/gravel road and the side of a hill. It appears for a view you need to stay in one of the residences (there is a rental program) or perhaps a suite on the top floors. The staff is outstanding (though they seem a bit inexperienced, as to be expected for a new hotel). They were very friendly and helpful all through the hotel. The Guest experience Manager (GEM) greeted us upon arrival and helped with any arrangements. The activity staff (downstairs at the ski/bike area) were incredibly helpful in discussing activities and directing us how to get where we wanted to go (such as the easy access from the hotel to the Bisse du Ro hiking trail - an absolute must-do). The hotel provides lift ticket cards at a much lower cost than the ticket window rack rate, which is very convenient. The spa staff was excellent, including the massage therapists The spa facilities are huge, with an indoor/outdoor pool, relaxation areas, a variety of saunas, steam, etc., both coed as well as individual ones in each of the locker rooms. The indoor/outdoor pool is integral to the spa facilities ; the only drawback is that it is below grade so the outdoor potion of the pool is only semi-outdoor (there are no views - if you are looking for a great view of the mountains ala Hotel Mont Blanc in Chamonix, you will be sorely disappointed). There is a separate outdoor pool on the 5th (lobby) floor which is not connected to the spa. It’s location seems a bit odd other than that may have been the only place they could put it. There is free transportation to he Violette gondola in Montana, from where you can ride to the base of the tram to the top and to the glacier. From Violette there is also a free bus to reach the Bisse du Tsittoret trailhead - another great hike with waterfalls (the free bus runs all through Crans-Montana, to the Cry d’Er as well). Be warned - there is no AC (in the interest of sustainability I guess) or other air circulation system (or ceiling fan) and it was in the mid to high 80’s while we were there. The room was very hot (the window walls which face west didn’t help) and sleeping was very difficult. W"

Hotel Etrier

📍 Rue du Pas-de-l'Ours 31, Lens
★★★★ 8.4 (34 reviews)

"Overall I loved my stay here. There were a few things they could improve upon to make the stay better and I would return. But first let me touch on the positives + gorgeous views when you enter and from breakfast + our room was cosy and the decor fab + nice shower + dog friendly + close to ski (not directly there but maybe 10 mins walk) + interiors are cool Now to the negatives which I really think they should work on to improve the hotel and the experience - the car park is completely dangerous. Other hotels clear the car parking area but not this one. Its full of ice and snow and it’s directly outside of the entrance to the hotel. So even if you don’t have a car you’ll need to walk there. So bad and needs NEEDS to be amended. - the breakfast is not great and ends at 10:30 but when we arrived at 9:45 I had to say to the waitress can we have more of everything at the buffet because there was literally one croissant. I would understand if we arrived at 10;25 but not at 9:45. - internet does not work downstairs and is pretty bad throughout. Overall I had a lovely stay because the views are gorgeous and staff lovely. They just need to change the few things above ans I would be telling everyone what a fab hotel it is."

"The hotel staff couldn’t do enough for us. We were all doing Wild Strubel mountain races, which means we all came into the hotel at funny times and in terrible states of exhaustion, and they were absolutely lovely and helpful and caring! Good, water, taxis to the airport. Nothing was impossible! And the food, especially the pasta (made by Italians), was delicious. All staff speak many languages."

Boutique Hotel Art de Vivre & Spa

Boutique Hotel Art de Vivre & Spa

📍 Rte de Fleurs des Champs 17, Lens
★★★★ 8.3 (22 reviews)

"Art Du Vivre is the best quality price offer you can get in Crans Montana. It is a Boutique 4 star hotel in The center of Montana, run by the Bonvin family, with excelent services and friendly stuff. The hotel has been recently Renovated, like Last summer and it disposes now of extra balconies with stunning views, a Restaurant that serves delicious japanese specialities(i am really found of Kaizen, and happy each time I see Kaizen s name written in a Hotel s Reception or a Restaurant) at decent prices, especially the Day menu, if you know what to order, of course, and a hot sauna outside the Hotel, with swimming pool and steam baths, and quiet garden with beautiful surroundings (very Instagramable, if you ask me). Before it was Michael too who worked at Art du vivre , but now he is not there anymore. Michael was the Best Physical Therapist in all Valais, if you ask me. His two Friends still wait for him at 12 am precisely, as they did each day for years and years when Michael was working in the hotel s spa. Now, back to our hotel:The Reception is very friendly especially when the Owner is around. Smile smile smile. He always knows how to make you feel like home, still he is a perfectionist, and everything is double check ed by Him, so that anyone can have a quiet and relaxing vacation, or stay, in case they only use the Spa. After a fast check in, the room I was given was 207,a beautiful light room with nice furniture, extra space, big bathroom and really nice view, one of the nicest in Montana, after the Kandahar Residence view, which i find amazing. Here all the Windows are facing South, so the view is incredibile too. The room had a smell of luxury and new, as the walls have been recently painted, and it was sparkling clean, i ve never seen so much attention to the leingeries, were they new..... No idea. The decoration is somehow minimalist, maybe a personal touch would have made a big difference, maybe since this is a '' Boutique Hotel'' It s missing that Chalet feeling, mountain style, but for a 4 star hotel it s fair. The room is spacious, in each bathroom they have a big Window, with beautiful natural light, the Coffee machine is a' 'must' ', I didn t know how to use it though, complementary Tea on The - 1 floor, with the 2 nd Elevator, and the Swimming pool, well the Swimming pool was /is the first main reason I ve booked this Hotel twice during the last two weeks, as I m walking up really early and i need to swim, so I ve used their Spa at a very early hour, like..... very early. Smile smile smile The Sauna in the Spa it s opened only after 2 pm, and Kids under 18 are not allowed inside, which makes this place one of my favorites in All Valais, as I need my hours of silence and relax. The second reason is The Breakfast, one of the Best choices in Crans, and, if you wish to have breakfast and you don t book a room, the price is 25-30 sfr, If i remember correctly. They have good quality products, warm bread, croissants, pain au "

Six Senses Crans-Montana ★★★★★
"This was our first visit to a Six Senses Property. I am not certain we will return. Positive features: 1. The room was stunning and the facilities (spa, fitness center, etc.) are top notch. 2. Dinner at Byakko our first night was lovely. Issues during our stay: We used the six senses app for most communication. This was generally good but things were challenging on our last day. 1. We went to the outdoor pool in the afternoon but no one came to bring towels or check on us. 2. We went to dinner and were surprised no one turned down the room despite having the housekeeping sign on. 3. We asked for a ride home after dinner but got no response and ended up walking back. None of these issues are dealbreakers but at this price point I do not expect issues."

Hotel Etrier ★★★★
"We are a regular visitor to Crans Montana . We have loved staying at Hotel L'etrier any time the occasion has permitted. Our family also have stayed at Hotel L'Etrier several times. W have found the Hotel extremely family friendly and most welcoming. Rooms are very comfortable and their suites are just beautiful . My husband and I stayed there last week and had a most comfortable and enjoyable stay there. We find that the Hotel has every comfort and facility available for us to enjoy our time. The barman was always around should you need to enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of tea or coffee etc. sitting in the bar area's comfortable sofas with magnificent view of the mountains. There is a nice heated Swimming pool and Sauna . We have found the staff friendly and helpful. Being mostly local, means that they are full of local knowledge of the area in case you will need assistance in exploring the wider area. For our very private meal there is a warm wooden Chalet located by the poolside which we could reserve for a meal for 6 (maximum 8 I believe) for lovely Grills, or a fondue Chinoise or Cheese fondue etc. This we have found in the past to be a unique experience for an evening dinner en-famille. We shall go back there again any time . A great thank you to all at Hotel L' Etrier who made our stay so comfortable and enjoyable."

Hotel Royal ★★★★★
"Hotel Royal Crans-Montana Hotel Royal is a gem hidden and tucked away from noise, crowds, located in front of the mountains and connected to a pedestrian wheelchair friendly footpath to the town of Montana. The people of Hotel Royal made our stay enjoyable always ready to help with entry into and getting out of the hotel entry full of steps. The side entry allowed our wheelchair in and out of the hotel in discretion. Our deluxe room with south balcony is spacious with a relaxing view of the mountains and trees. The fourth floor was an excellent height. It only goes up to 5 floors. The terraces outside, facing the mountains were also relaxing for lunch, drinks or simply enjoying. The restaurant served excellent quality food with very reasonable prices. We chose lobster tails for our first lunch. Two delicious quality lobster tails with excellent tasting and well prepared kombu Japanese style seaweed and burette cheese. Our only concern is that the kombu is another meal by itself and was not compatible with the lobster tails. The burrata cheese was another meal by itself. So it was 3 separate meals in one meal. Too much for the lobster tails. For our second meal we chose the fish entirely prepared in salt served for 2 persons. What a delight to have such a generous size fish, well prepared, accompanied with perfectly cooked vegetables and potatoes. Simple flavouring and fresh tasting. Breakfast was standard with a lot of sweet cake choices, however, additional costs to get an omelet or a few other things. I read some reviews on the internet and it was sad to see how this hotel is under rated. Everything is clean, looking well kept with its abundant wood and refreshing atmosphere with relaxing views of the mountains and nature. "

Chetzeron ★★★★
"From the first glimpse of the Chetzeron as we walked down the slopes till we waved goodbye we had the most incredible stay at 2112m! While the location and views from every oversized window speak for themselves, the architecture and design of the hotel are truly stunning with every subtle detail carefully considered and expertly executed. Rarely do hotels live up to Instagram and website imagery or do beautiful design hotels have facilities, comfort and truly impeccable service to match their aesthetics – Chetzeron certainly does. The front of house team are the epitome of Swiss efficiency offering the utmost helpful and friendly customer experience. Sami, the most affable owner you are ever likely to meet, takes pleasure in casually chatting with guests when not supporting his staff and is always keen to share anecdotes on how his vision was realised transforming a gondola station into this amazing hotel. I read a quote somewhere that Sami welcomes people not as guests but as friends, well he must be proud that this philosophy is truly reflected by all the staff as we certainly left as friends and can’t wait for a return visit sometime soon. Our stay had so many highlights, everything exceeded our expectations and even as non-skiers the location and travel to and from the idyllic setting was far from an inconvenience but and added adventure and a feature that few locations can offer. Don’t hesitate in making your own fantastic memories 2112m above sea level."

Boutique Hotel Art de Vivre & Spa ★★★★
"The hotel itself is in a great location and has a fantastic view. The spa and gym are wonderful as is the food for breakfast. The rooms are basic but the beds are distinctly seperate beds, so even when placed together, it does not make for comfortable sleep as a couple. The bathrooms lack basic amenities like conditioner, which was odd. Most upsetting, the hotel had organised a taxi to the train station early on the morning of our departure and they simply forgot, which caused a lot of stress. It’s still a good hotel but I would probably check elsewhere first before returning."

"Check in was smooth and efficient. Its such a small hotel that you get a feeling you are arriving to someones home or a private chalet. Hotel is super historic but with a nice decor. Lunch at hotel restaurant was not so good - kind of like a fast food experience. Service was sooo slow i never experienced that level of lack of any sence of urgency. We had to request to get bread several times and after 40 minutes got advised first we shall put a food order and after get the bread. We were waiting for drinks also like for an hour. After ordering all the food at once it also arrived all together in same moment no order of the dishes etc. Meat we asked for medium it came totally well done. At this point we didnt have any room nor patience to ask for anything just wanted to go from there asap. Just note that there were 2 tables when we were eating so an empty place. Breakfast same story its tasty the food and options are avarage but it takes 2 hours to serve one table. We appreciated the kindness of Maximiliane and Clara, thanks for good service and for doing the best. The room had a lot of issues, radio that would start to make noise in the middle of the night. Room was so dark i had to use my phone light in order to see something. I got amenities including the welcome card from previous guests… i didnt want to touch the cake as didnt know if its from week before from previous guest. Something you dont expect to get when there are only 13 rooms at hotel the mix up cant happen. Overall if you want privacy its a great place also super affordable but if you want luxury look somewhere else"

"I'm only giving this rating for the spa at the Hotel Central because I live in Crans-Montana (if you're ever looking for good massage recommendations, feel free to ask me in the comments...). The masseuse acts like she's a doctor and is rude to the clients. There are better options in Crans-Montana; I won't be going back."
