"The water pressure in the shower was strong, and the shower unit was unique and luxurious, it did however , take me a minute to figure out the buttons lol Spacious room with solar power sockets Heated Jacuzzi is a soothing luxury, whilst staying I saw , the resort has acquired a newly spacious building and land to the side, I will be intrigued to see the completion of this. A unique and remarkable resort overall"

Cilex Hotel and Dive

Cilex Hotel and Dive

📍 Blk 8, Sitio Look Brgy. Bagalangit, Mabini
★★ 9.5 (9 reviews)

"We stayed at Cilex for a week during our diving trip to Anilao. The view of the sunset over Balayan Bay from the balcony of our room and the kitchen staff who are good at cooking and very flexible make this the best place to stay. The pool is like a hot spring, which was great for divers with a cold body. We used to stay at Aquaventure, two doors down, and dive every year, but unfortunately the owner changed and it became an overpriced place to stay. The staff was replaced and all the kitchen staff we loved moved to this hotel, so we decided to stay at Cilex from this year. We went during Japan's Golden Week, but it was not crowded and it was like we had the place to ourselves! We were able to relax very much. We were able to dive every day and were very satisfied with the delicious Filipino food we were served for three meals. We didn't have to go anywhere else, and this resort alone made our vacation perfect. Our diving guide was a reliable veteran Filipino guide who has been with us for a long time, and the boat staff was the same, so we felt safe there. For those who will be using Cilex in the future, I would like you to understand the characteristics of this accommodation beforehand and enjoy it, so I will give you some points to be careful about. 1. The fittings are poorly constructed. This is a common thing in the Philippines. It's the level that a Japanese construction company would faint if they saw it. The door is hard to lock, the window cannot be unlocked, the handy washlet comes off with the metal fittings on the wall, the washbasin does not drain, the toilet seat is crooked for some reason, the glass sliding door of the shower room cannot be opened from the inside and you almost get locked in, etc. Well, it's near the sea, so it's quite normal in the Philippines. 2. The only amenities are a toothbrush set and hand soap. There is no shampoo, so please bring your own favorite. There are no face towels, only bath towels. If you need a face towel, please bring one. Clothespins and hangers are also useful. 3. The tap water is a little salty. I think they pump groundwater, but it's right next to the sea, so it's fine once you get used to it. If you are concerned, please bring plenty of bottled water. 4. If you stay on the top floor, you will have to go up and down a lot of stairs every day. Like all accommodations in Anilao, the building is built to cling to the cliffs near the sea, so you will have to go up and down four flights of stairs from your room on the third floor to the sea. There are no escalators or elevators, so it is not barrier-free at all. If you have bad knees, it will be impossible, so please request the lowest floor. But don't give up if you have bad legs. The Philippines has the strongest barrier-free system, which is human power, so I'm sure the young, strong, and kind staff will be able to help you. 5. The restaurant menu has a limited number of items. But don't give up. Terry, who is in charge of the kitchen, will make any Filipino dish you request. And they are all delicious! When I brought in fish bought from the fishermen, he cooked it into a wonderfully delicious steamed fish and served it to me. The freshly fried lumpia (spring rolls) are also outstandingly delicious...!"

Eagle Point Beach and Dive Resort

Eagle Point Beach and Dive Resort

📍 Barangay Bagalangit, Mabini
★★★ 7.6 (32 reviews)

"No idea how this “resort” used to be, but now half of the premises are abandoned, crumbling apart and taking back by mother nature. Initially surprised to find they don’t allow outside food and drinks, but later we understood why. Next they are asking extra payment per device per 24 hours of wifi, like if we were still living in the 90’s. Back to the food. Things got worse as we ordered 2 “pizzas” in a totally empty restaurant, we waited 40 minutes and they bring two “pizzas” clearly basic frozen pizza they just sprinkled something on top of and baked on a pan. Burned black all over on the bottom and the cheese was not melted on the top. We complained and the best they could do was not to charge us and tell us they looked into getting a oven for pizzas in the future. My girlfriend was trying to get the best out of it and ordered a local dish. They didn’t ask me if I wanted something and just walked out with her order. Great how about not selling us burned, frozen bread and try to hide it and at the same time enforce a god damn monopoly on eating their food and drinking their beverages? Diving options for 1 diver at the resort: 7600 PHP for 2 dives. Haha. It is 1200 PHP a dive in this area. After just 6 hours we have no doubt why this place is empty and looks so worn down. Guests most have abandoned the bad service, bad food and unreasonable prices and put their money elsewhere. Cannot recommend for anything else, but snorkeling of Eagle Point at this point in time."

Blue Ribbon Dive Resort

📍 National Road Ligaya Anilao, Mabini
★★★ 8.7 (28 reviews)

"The divemasters and staff were so welcoming, accommodating, helpful and so kind! I appreciated all their help getting all the equipment ready between dives and on the boat. I hired a private dive guide and was not disappointed! Ramil was amazing, knew where to find everything, and was very patient with me. I could tell he wanted me to get really good photos. On top of that, he knew the currents and area really well, and ended the dive very appropriately when he sensed downcurrent starting, so I felt very safe diving with him. I would 100% recommended Ramil to others and work with him again. I appreciated how comfortable, relaxing, and mosquito-free the common areas are. The pool and areas to wash our dive gear was clean as well. Communication prior to my trip was excellent too. I was contacted well before my trip with the information I needed, and my transports to/from Manila were seamless."

Cilex Hotel and Dive ★★
"Very Small rooms, but had beautiful view of sea. Reaching Cilex from Batangas was a challenge. Took a tricycle motored auto from Batangas. Costed me 600 pesos one way. Safe place with good people around. Bfast in Cilex was good. No veg options. Managed with pancakes. The staff are super friendly. The property has good team to go for scuba and rates start from 3000 pesos. They give you free life jacket for snorkeling. Overall very good experience. "

Eagle Point Beach and Dive Resort ★★★
"Can’t expect much with the money I paid for the room so you will meet to adjust your expectations. I found a hair stand in the mini bar. More hair strands in the shower head and drainage- that’s a deal breaker - gross!! They also don’t have water heater. Water pressure is so low at night. They also don’t give free WiFi in the room. Need to pay 100 per gadget. Free WiFi is only in the restaurant and in the reception Value for money for the room I paid for (P3300) I think it’s a good deal. Food is so so - nothing special. It’s quite pricey. Going to the resort is tricky - you get to park on top and a ride will take you down to the resort. But Get ready for this ride as it is like a roller coaster- I was scared as it was steepy with a zigzag road. Driver was fast and not cautious at all. So be warned! Staff were nice tho.. Going back? Nah.. I will pass."

"Went there for Christmas and New Year. There weren't many people so it was just cozy and quiet. It was perfect for me because it has been a difficult year and this is just a brand new world full of warmth. It's basic resort with loads of human touch. However, if you are looking for party at the beach, you are not going to get that because there isn't even a beach to start with. This is my second time here. My first time was in April and there were more people at the resort. I guess it's the season because the dive sites looked richer in April. They were really beautiful. Had amazing dives with Dang in April, and decided to go back and do a rescue diver course with him this time around. He's really patient and went out of his way to make sure I grasp the basic water confidence before moving in the next part of the course. Had a few fun dives with the other instructor Jeff after the course. They were lovely dives and he offered some advice about my trip to a nearby island too. Did a few more dives with DM Jake later on. They were fun too. Overall, safety measures were good and the dives were nice and relaxing. If you are looking to have quality dives, great place to be. If you are just going on a beach holiday, and diving is just part of the activities that you can do, then this is not the place to be. Apart from the instructors and DM, the ground team at the dive centre was amazing. They know how to set up my gears exactly how I wanted them to be, especially Arvin. Their attention to details was just superb. I just felt really spoilt anytime of the day with the team upstairs. Justin and Zack always have my orders customised to my liking. Dave made sure I arrived safely at the resort even after he got off his shift. Macky was always making sure things go well for me. The security guy at night was more than security. He got my beer for me 🤣. Simple resort running well on its own, which I believe is due to the great leadership of Jon, the owner. And the best part is, they have great Internet connection. You don't really need to choose if you want good dives or stay connected. I wish they have hair dryer though but that's manageable. Overall, good stay, good dives, good holiday"
