The location is very quiet, and the restaurant offers reasonable value for money."

"The hotel's location is excellent, right next to the pedestrian ferry and car ferry (you can drive your car onto the boat), making it easy to take a boat to Bellagio and other towns. The rooms are a bit small and the facilities are a bit dated, but the direct lake view is absolutely stunning. The breakfast spread is very generous and delicious. All the hotel staff are polite and enthusiastic. There's also free parking available. However, lunch and dinner felt a bit overpriced and the taste was just average."

"Wow. What an incredible place Hotel Royal in Menaggio is. My husband and I absolutely loved staying here during our Honeymoon at the beginning of September. From start to finish, the staff were so so friendly and made us feel very welcome, always. We chose bedroom 1 - a beautiful room with a fantastic view overlooking Menaggio, the lake, Varenna and Bellagio - We could not have chosen better. The breakfast was simply perfect as well, along with the stunning pool with the breathtaking mountains overlooking! Unreal. Oh, and we can’t forget Restaurant 800 - the best food and service in Lake Como. We would highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit Menaggio for a holiday/Honeymoon. Thank you so so much for having us and for working so so hard! With love, Hanna and Ashley x"

"This was the most stunning hotel we stayed at during our entire trip. Both the interior and exterior were renovated and very stylish, yet the original crystal chandelier was still retained, a perfect blend of modern and classic. The staff were all incredibly welcoming; after check-out, they even gave us a small gift bag filled with adorably packaged water and candy – so thoughtful! We definitely want to stay here again next time!"

"We stayed here for one night. It's a hostel, so don't expect anything fancy, but both reception and guests are friendly with good vibes. You can only check in at 5, and the walk to the lake and the ferry is downhill (or uphill going back) so not as quick as you might expect. Room was very basic but not as basic as the shower. Lift only worked part of the way up. You need to set up the bed and clean up as you leave, and better bring your own food for breakfast as there's not much there. I guess it's ok for a hostel but I felt s strong urge for a bit more when we looked where to stay for our next stop."

"We stayed there for 2 nights with my cousin in a mixed dorm of 8 and it was ok. Very good value for money, very nice view, great breakfast, great dinner, great cocktail / wine :) Maybe missing a small lamp at each bed. The location is very good, ferry in front. Thank you"

"A wonderful hotel, the location is excellent, the ferry is nearby, which is very convenient, there's parking, a very beautiful, lovely promenade nearby, and restaurants. The grounds are small, but lounging by the pool with a view of Como is a special treat. The hotel also has its own dock with boats. The breakfast is wonderful, again with a wonderful view of the lake. The staff is very nice and helpful. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends."

"We enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much. We loved the quietness of the location, the pool area overlooking the lake and mountains is gorgeous and often we were the only ones there! The breakfasts were very nice, plenty of selection and we ate twice in the restaurant in the evening and the food and wine was delicious. There were a couple of negatives, mainly on the day of arrival, walking the extremely steep climb to the hotel with two large suitcases up cobbled pathways because we couldn't get a taxi was an absolute killer!! It was mentioned by other guests staying there too, I really do think the hotel should offer a transfer up the hill to the hotel on the day of arrival, it's a terrible start to the holiday when you arrive, sweaty and absolutely exhausted! The walk up and down without luggage is do-able but with heavy luggage it's awful. Also I think the rooms should have a little fridge and a kettle as there isn't a nearby shop to pick things up so it would have been really nice to have been able to stock up on a few drinks and snacks if we had a fridge to store them in and also to be able to make a coffee or tea early morning or later in the evening would have been nice."

"The Location of this hostel is stunning (besides the steps on the way up)! A short work from the town and ferry, we were very pleased! Room was very basic along with the shared bathroom, but couldn’t complain for the price. The staff were amazing, welcoming and caring! We spent a few evenings in the sister hostel round the corner, and the service was incredible! The staff chatted with us, and celebrated a birthday with us too. Would highly recommend this place if you’re okay with basic for a few days!"

"The cleanliness and amenities were comparable to a regular hostel. There was no place to put things in the shower room, which was a bit of a problem, but you could put things on top of the heater in the shower room at the very back on the second floor. They also provided drink tickets, which was nice, but beer wasn't included. 😂 The view from the room was amazing!"
