"I stayed in this piace for a few days. I found a peaceful atmosphere, ideal if you want to leave all your stress outside. The bedrooms are simple and typical, there are different common areas where you can rest. Breakfast is good and there is a little restaurant inside serving Swahili dishes. They speack italian, german and Swahili too and they will give you all the best tips to live a wonderful holiday visiting the isle. The real surprise is the beach, just few steps distant!"

Michamvi Sunset Bay

"We stayed at Michami Sunset Bay for 8 nights on our honeymoon having done 8 nights on safari. There's so much to love about this hotel: the location directly on the beachfront, the incredibly friendly and helpful staff, the effort of the staff and decoration around the hotel is beautiful, incredible sunsets, and more. We especially loved the ability to borrow things like snorkels, paddleboards etc. for some fun activities. The hotel are also able to book activities for you, where we did a boat trip, snorkelling, and a sunset trip, but they have lots more to choose from. They also book all your taxis which is so helpful and avoids you needing cash for all your journeys. The hotel also has a great happy hour perfect for watching unforgettable sunsets. The food is delicious with an extensive lunch menu, great options for breakfast buffet, a long bar menu with lots of drinks, and three course meals each evening. We especially loved the Saturday night Swahili buffet to try some authentic food. The room was a great size with fresh towels each day, and everything was kept so clean. A lovely balcony too. Michamvi is much quieter, offering a more relaxing atmosphere. There are still a few lovely restaurants and bars, but a short taxi ride away. For more going on, the best place is Paje which is a 30-45 minute taxi journey. The only one real downside to the hotel is the road leading to it. Michamvi felt like an up-and-coming area, meaning some infastructure on main roads were under development, making journeys slightly longer. The bigger issue is the side road leading off the main road to get to the hotel. It's very pot-holey and not developed at all, meaning especially when it's rained that it's incredibly bumpy and uncomfortable to drive down and takes at least 10 minutes to get in and out as taxis have to drive so slowly. This affected us nearly every day as we went out the hotel almost each day and did have an impact as taxis were often late due to the issue which was very frustrating, and meant the start and end of each trip out the hotel was very bumpy and irritating. This is the only downside however, as the hotel is really wonderful, beautiful, so well looked after, and incredibly relaxing with great facilities."

"Room: We had a suite for 5 people. It had three beds. At the entrance, there was a single bed, separated by a curtain, and two double beds. The beds were very comfortable and had mosquito nets. The bathroom was huge, with two sinks, two shower heads over a shared tub, and a separate toilet. The terrace was spacious and had loungers and chairs, and a wonderful view of the sea. Food: The staff made a huge effort to fulfill every wish. The food was good. Sometimes it takes a little while to be delivered, but it's always freshly prepared. Staff: Very attentive and extremely friendly. Entertainment: We were there during the rainy season and were the only guests besides two other guests. The hotel was therefore extremely quiet. I missed a ping-pong or pool table. A small weight room would have been nice too. Diving: Be careful! There is no diving school affiliated with the hotel. We dived with Bluewaves, who picked us up from the hotel. The dive sites were okay, but not amazing. Negative: While it's great that you get a 5-liter water bottle per person in your room every day, plus the same with dinner, the empty PET bottles pile up. It's better to provide 1-liter bottles."
