Hotel Hallormsstadur
"If you're booking well in advance and not during peak season, consider looking for other options. It's not critically bad, but I wouldn't recommend it if the hotel is fully booked."
Hotel 1001 Nott
"Room was spacious, new and clean. Would have preferred a kettle as the Nespresso machine has residual taste of coffee but the front desk offered a jug of hot water to bring into our room which was great. Pillow was too thin. About the toilet, would have preferred a curb at the shower stall so it doesnt get too wet. Breakfast was great; eggs were well made, and food was fresh and tasty."
Fjalladýrð Guesthouse
"It’s really great. The shower facilities are good, the kitchen is clean, and the bedding is nice. The location is also good. We decided to stay here for just one more day because Dettifoss was closed. Taiwan"
Studlagil Canyon Accommodation
Guesthouse Svartiskógur Egilsstaðir
"Accommodation is situated in a remote area, where the actual lodging is a short drive in from the main reception area. Very basic accommodation, where even the hot water is limited! But given that it is family-run, the customer service was wonderful. I was freezing under my comforter and the staff brought a portable heater to our room."
Bragdavellir Cottages
"Nice hotel"
Krákhamar Apartments
"Everything about this place was perfect. The friendly owner, the clean and spacious rooms, and even the beautiful aurora. My stay here was fantastic and unforgettable."
Árbakki
"Well, overall, not so great. The pre-checking info was scant—no phone number in case of difficulties, for example, and there was no sign on the premises, so I wandered around for awhile before deciding which building was the guesthouse/hostel. The bed was okay, the kitchen had cooking equipment in it, but I never did find the trash. The house was in the middle of a farm field. Facilities were clean, but the finish work on the new? construction was poor."
Hjartarstaðir Guesthouse
"We got 2 apartments. It was small but cosy. However it is a bit out of the way. The surrounding areas was beautiful. The sunset was colourful."

Við Lónið Guesthouse
"It's a family hotel. When you arrive, the owner will leave the key at the door and you can take it according to your name. The famous Rainbow Road is right at the door and there are restaurants next to it, which is very convenient. It was here that we caught the Northern Lights. The staff at the restaurant next door suggested that we drive the car a little further out so that it would be easier to see without the lights. We drove out for five minutes and stopped by the roadside, and soon we took the photo. It was not a good trip."
Hotel Framtid
"We love the town and the place itself. Staff are so nice, they make sure that we know all the needed information before arriving that is very useful. Food are delicious and affordable. The room is very clean and warm."
Álfheimar Hotel
"Location not convenient for non-driver. Much transport service is needed."
Lyngás Guesthouse
"We were the only guests but the whole apartment was very clean. They had a good equipt kitchen. We enjoyed our stay and would travel there again :) Cool guesthouse in Iceland."
Snæfell - Hotel by Aldan
"a charming hotel in a small town, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The room was cozy and well-decorated, creating a welcoming atmosphere. However, I did find the kitchen lacking; it would have been more convenient to have an induction stove and a microwave, along with some basic cooking equipment like pots and pans. While there was a supermarket across the road, stocking up on raw food proved challenging for a short stay. Additionally, the absence of nearby restaurants made dining options limited. Despite these drawbacks, the hotel provided a comfortable base for my visit."
Seydisfjördur Guesthouse
"This place suited us for one night. We were only two people sharing the quadruple room. I think with four people it would feel very cramped. Good service and easy check in:)"
Framtid Apartments and Holiday Homes
"The scenery was excellent. The apartment was spacious and clean. Very good utilities for cooking."
Lónsleira Apartments
"Nicely presented property beware in a noisy location. None of which was mentioned in description this apartment is opposite a bar called the kiosk loud music was played from 4- 10pm making the experience inside very unrelaxing after loud music ends there is the noise of people talking outside. Great if you want to be part of the action not good if you want to relax."
Media Luna Guesthouse
"Wasn't expecting much but ended up so pleasantly surprised! My elderly parents and I absolutely loved our stay here! One of the best places we stayed in Iceland this trip. The Guesthouse manager (matnus? Sorry I'm not sure how his name is spelt!) was kind enough to help us arrange a last minute change of room as we changed our minds and wanted to upgrade to a bigger room. We stayed at the one bedroom apartment and everything was lovely. Squeaky clean, even for a clean freak like me. The place was well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. I noticed there is a thick layer of cushion over the sofa bed so this was the most comfortable sofa bed I've ever slept on. My parents also said the double bed was very very comfortable. Highly highly recommend this Guesthouse!"
Hótel Valaskjálf
"This hotel in Egilsstaðir, a town in eastern Iceland, had more facilities than I expected and the service was excellent. There's no elevator to the rooms, but staff were on hand to help. The biggest surprise, though, was being able to capture the most beautiful Northern Lights that night. Unfortunately, the weather turned bad for the rest of my trip, so I didn't get to see them again."
Gistihúsið - Lake Hotel Egilsstadir
"We had a great stay in this Hotel. We just find the elevator squeaky lol but its all good. The room was spacious. We loved it. Also saw a glimpse of aurora by the lake side!"
Ásgeirsstaðir Cottages
"It's about 10km from town, but shopping and other errands aren't particularly inconvenient. A cute cat greeted me. The heater in the room seemed to be broken, as it was a little cold."
Skipalækur Guesthouse
"Very satisfied, beyond expectations, can cook"
Seydisfjördur Apartment
"This house was amazing! I forgot to take more photos. The location was great, just a short walk from the town entrance. There was a spacious parking lot behind the house, making it easy to carry luggage from the parking space to the room (very important when traveling in Europe). The room, kitchen, laundry room, bathroom, and living room were all on the same floor, so there was no need to carry luggage up and down stairs. The living room, kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room were all large, with plenty of wardrobes (and a lot of clothes hangers, which is inconvenient in many places). Hot water was good, and the heating was excellent (each room has its own adjustable heating). The room was very clean, well-equipped, and the kitchen facilities were super complete. We cooked a great dinner. The view from the window was of the harbor cruise ships, fulfilling all my expectations for a guesthouse. I highly recommend choosing this place when visiting this town."
Dúlluhús - Apartments by Aldan
"Just next to the church, the kitchen is quite big, close to the city, you can go to many attractions within five minutes by car, but unfortunately the nearby shops will be lighted at night, it is difficult to see the aurora ~"
Framtid Hostel
"The hostel is very centrally located, not far from the hotel, directly opposite the pool of the place. The rooms are simple and perfectly fine. Only a few rooms share a common room, so here is enough opportunity to cook for yourself. However, we did without and went to one of the restaurants that are available in Djupivogur. The hotel staff was very friendly and eager to help. Breakfast was a bit expensive, but worth the price - there were a lot of different dishes and local specialties. Highly recommended."
Framtid Camping Lodging Barrels
"The service staff in the hotel are very friendly and the prices in the restaurant are very reasonable. The room in the camping area has a comfortable temperature and the bed is very comfortable, but the space is a bit insufficient and not suitable for luggage. The bathroom and toilet are outside but it's warm and not cold at all."
Bankinn - Hotel by Aldan
"Nice location."
