"When we arrived the hotel looked beautiful outside and inside. We had a comfort room booked room 112 Which cost £278 for 2 nights. When we got to our room it was very small more like a single room, There were three small drawers and a wardrobe to put your clothes in. The room had a window which looked out to a brick wall, it was very hot in the room even with the fan on. The room was very dark even with the lights on. The bathroom was like an obstacle course trying to get in the bath for a shower. We asked if they had another room but we were told they were fully up. They were not helpful at all. We went for a meal in the restaurant and the food was very nice, and the atmosphere was good. Unfortunately due to the room and price paid for the room we will not be booking this hotel again."

"I’ve been fortunate enough to be well travelled and stayed in hundreds of hotels but this one is one of the best. The little details make this place so special. The accommodation was of exceptional quality with a massive bathroom, the room was spacious but so cosy I was asleep by 9.30! The food was delicious, the quality was outstanding and so lovely to see the chef taking real pride in what he does. The service was amazing, the waitresses and management were so accommodating and went above and beyond for us. This is the best value for a hotel, we hope to be back v soon!!"

"This hotel was convenient for our location.The receptionist booked us in immediately and gave our key. The room was clean and smelt fresh . The shower over the bath was good. We were happy either our stay hence the blood review and the car park was large enough to not have to search for a space."

"We had a voucher as a wedding present and booked our lunch in this hotel as we were on holiday in Ilfracombe. Apart from the lady behind the bar who apparently was the only one working, the whole experience was third rate. Hotel very tired, no proper dining room with laid tables, the food was abysmal. Glutinous rice, inedible sweet and sour chicken,. Minute swordfish ‘steak’ so dry , long long wait for desert, jam roll and custard so dry again unable to eat.the other desert had been hanging around so long the custard had a thick skin. SO disappointing both for us and our voucher giver."

"We were very well received by the staff in the bar upon arrival. Our room was very “tired” and worn. There seemed to be no elevator so be aware there are stairs to the rooms. The hotel was well located in Braunton’s central area where there are bars and restaurants. It was quiet though for sleeping."

"Interesting place. Fantastic staff. Lovely room. Made to feel very welcome. Felt part of the family. Best welcome ever. Wonderful garden with different birds we could sit in outside our room. The emus and turkeys especially. Bed was very comfortable. Very quiet location. Was lovely to hear owls and see bats."

"We have passed this place numerous times on our journey from Woolacombe to Ilfracombe but never really took much notice of it.However, we needed a one night(Friday) stay in October 2023 for three of us and needed two rooms so we searched trip advisor and Cairn House was available.It is a really lovely house, full of character and made better with the warm welcome from our host Margaret and her staff.The rooms were cosy, warm,spotless clean and the views were wonderful.Breakfast was wholesome and filling and we weren't rushed.We walked down to the town(approx 15mins) and noticed that Ilfracombe Rugby Club had their annual bonfire and fireworks event so we went along and it was really lovely, the firework display being the best we've seen in ages and it was very well organised.All in all Cairn House was a great place to stay and not over priced either. "
