"Arrived at this PM on the direct A15 to Peterborough and no matter which way your traveling on the A1 (North or South), it takes you straight to the roundabout you want. The hotel was a typical PM with a straight forward booking in and we were only staying for the night,. The room was clean and tidy, as was the bathroom. A good selection of TV channels for those who stay in - why: its summer time get out and about. The room was like an oven, even with the window open, but a fan was supplied. Of course you can't blame the hotel for the hot weather, simple really. The PM is central to the shopping area with a Tesco and Mac Donald's all close by. The centre of Peterborough is a good 2 miles (plus) walking from the hotel, so think twice before thinking of doing it - we should have done as it was extremely hot. A good hotel, in a good location with good and helpful staff - what more do you want. Bon Journey"

"We booked this hotel as a stopover on the way from Northumberland to Essex The hotel is very tired. When we arrived it was very hot but there was no cooling. With the window open the noise from the adjacent A1 was so bad we had to choose between the noise or unbearable heat We discovered that breakfast was a “to go box” consisting of a small carton of milk to be poured into a cardboard box of cornflakes, a pastry in a packet and a small bottle of water - Useless if you can’t do dairy Possibly the worst hotel we have ever encountered. We left after 15 mins preferring to lose our money and drive a further 3 hours home. We asked for the breakfast boxes as we had paid for them but we didn’t eat them but did drink the smallest ever bottle of water I can only recommend that this place should be avoided. Any alternative you could find would be an improvement "

"We had a great stay with Phil and Stephen. We were welcomed with open arms and a lovely, clean Barley Cottage. The area around the property is unusually beautiful with the river flowing quietly along the park-like garden, and in the neighbourhood, you see many fine houses with beautiful English gardens. In addition, there are many opportunities to go for some nice long walks. We chose to stay one more day than planned, and luckily Phil and Stephen had room for us. Their guestbook is something completely different. In addition to the fact that it contains all the practical details, including must-see and various pubs and restaurants, it is a small piece of art with the most beautiful pictures and accommodations. It can only be highly recommended to take a stay at River Neen Cottages – and if we pass by the area again one day, we will of course book a new stay. All the best – Susse, Kim and Valborg 🐾"

There was a booking error on my part and Lucia the receptionist dealt with it quickly and efficiently and with a smile glad she could rectify the situation. There was a decently sized swimming pool and the saunas were excellent especially the steam room which was hot and wet enough. For dinner, the starters were very good with various choices; unfortunately the steak of £37 was totally over-priced and over-rated. The breakfast was fair and didn’t have hot chocolate/chocolate milk."

"I had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Queensgate Hotel in Peterborough! From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the warm, welcoming atmosphere and the high standard of service. Check-in was quick and efficient, and I immediately felt at ease thanks to the team’s professional yet genuinely caring attitude. My room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and beautifully presented. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep, and the overall setup was both stylish and practical. Everything worked perfectly — from the lighting and heating to the shower and Wi-Fi — which made my stay completely hassle-free. I could tell the hotel takes pride in keeping everything well maintained and comfortable for guests. The hotel itself has a lovely charm. The decor is elegant without being overdone, and the entire property has a calm, welcoming feel. The communal areas were tidy and relaxing, and I noticed great attention to detail throughout — from the fresh, inviting scent in the corridors to the neatly arranged furniture in the lounge area. The location is ideal too. The Queensgate Hotel is close enough to Peterborough city centre to be convenient, but far enough to offer peace and quiet. It’s easy to reach by car, and there’s on-site parking, which made things even more convenient. Whether visiting for business or leisure, it’s perfectly situated for exploring the city and nearby attractions. While I didn’t use the restaurant or bar on this trip, they looked very inviting, and I’ll definitely try them next time. It’s clear that this hotel is run with real care and attention — everything feels personal and thoughtfully managed. Overall, The Queensgate Hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. It combines comfort, cleanliness, and genuine hospitality at a great value. I left feeling completely relaxed and impressed by the quality of service. "The Newark is a budget hotel about a mile from Peterborough city centre, so it may not be ideal for tourists (it's popular with forwarders, construction workers and such). But you can easily reach it by bus (lines 5, 5a) from the centre. The hotel was still being refurbished when I arrived, and my en-suite double was certainly modern and clean. The bathroom facilities I found to be excellent, except there was no rag for the towels to dry, and the bathroom door didn't have a cylinder (yet?). The shower was big (no curtain or door though), and the water pressure adequate (not a given in budget hotels). The bed was comfy, and there was enough storage for my clothes and stuff. A 32" flat-screen Tv was provided, with a remote. Free Wifi was available, too. I really wish they would have provided a toilet brush though! Early check-in went smoothly (direct email contact with the hotel was excellent), don't be put off by the gloomy-looking reception area. There's a very basically furnished garden to the back where you can hang out. The room service was a bit spotty, but I really didn't need it every day anyway. ;)"
