The Lakeside

The Lakeside

📍 45 Newcomen Terrace, Redcar
★★ 7.8 (20 reviews)

"We stayed in the room at the very top. It had a window built into a sloping roof. I am 6 ft 3 and could just about make out a sea view from it. My wife is five ft nothing so had no hope. That window could do with a clean as it was the only source of natural light in the room. The lamp in the room didn't work. Some of the furniture in the room was also past its best and my wife didn't find the beds comfy although me and my daughter thought they were fine. The shower was ok but the whole room could do with a refurbishment. The other rooms I've seen pictures of on here look much better so maybe we just got unlucky. On trip advisor it also says this hotel has free parking which isn't the case you have to park over the road aprox 500 meters away it's 5 quid for 24 hours. I didn't feel very good about leaving the car there overnight it's very open and not very secure. They also don't offer breakfast. We were greeted by a young girl who was pleasant and explained everything. Other than that we were out and about all of the two days we stayed there and didn't see any other staff. You pay for what you get and for what we paid it was fine. But nothing more and could be easily improved with some simple touches. "

"You are guaranteed a warm welcome from Jackie and John, and we were delighted to be greeted as old friends on our return trip to Red Barns. The location is excellent, the house and rooms spotless, and the amenities everything you might require, including fresh milk for the tea and coffee facilities in the room! Breakfast was outstanding again, with plenty of choice and a delicious cooked breakfast made to your individual requirements. We wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else and look forward to returning again in the future."

Park Hotel

Park Hotel

📍 3-5 Granville Terrace, Redcar
★★★ 8.5 (21 reviews)

"We had a suite which was only a little extra from the normal rooms, very large and nice large bath and bathroom. Sea views and literally across the road from the beach. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast good, buffet style, plus pastries etc. I heard somebody at reception saying the food was excellent in the restaurant, we chose to eat out as unfortunately the restaurant closed at 6 15 pm on Sunday. All in all a very nice stay."

The Lakeside ★★
"STAY AWAY - SAFETY AND PRIVACY BREACH My Partner and I had a terrifying experience here. Despite being told we needed 5 minutes as my wife was in the shower, a male staff member ignored us and forced entry into our room with a master key. He was extremely aggressive, screaming and intimidating us. He even pursued us running from downstairs as we tried to flee the building in tears. Beyond the harassment, the room was in poor condition with a water leak and no working heater (we had to text the receptionist just to get heat). This is a dangerous environment for couples and a total violation of privacy. We have reported this to the police and Trip.com. Do not stay here."

"4/09/24: I'm a Londoner and this was my third time of staying at the Beacon- it wasn't planned- but roadworks on the M1 & torrential rain meant I returned- without a booking ! The manager was very welcoming, and I had a mate with me, but I snore, so I managed to get the last two rooms- luckily! This hotel is exceptional: very well located (Morrisons 10 mins, buses 4 mins, train 5 mins!), immaculately clean and quiet, great rooms, and a kitchen where you can make your own food and store in in their fridge! HOW many places offer that! There's a courtyard for smokers, there's VERY welcoming staff, there is a BIG breakfast room and it's a 1- minute walk to the waterfront! Abfab! Peter Gregory"

"This is a former mansion that has been thoroughly rennovated. Our bedroom was lovely and spacious. Breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed hearing about Gertrude Bell and her connection with the house. The Lobster Inn is only 5 min walk and was a good option for dinner."

"The staff was very kind, and very helpful. I was traveling alone, and it was my first time in the area. I didn't expect much from a travel hotel, but I really appreciated how they took care of any concerns and questions I had. "
