"Had a great stay at this Resort, we were visiting friends in and around the Vaal Triangle having lived in the area for 12 years from 2008. this was our second stay at this hotel, it has undergone extensive renovations since our first visit. Our room was on the ground floor and was very comfortable, we were on BB rate. The hotel was very clean and fresh. The restaurant was very good serving a buffet breakfast and evening meals, there are several restaurants within the resort, Gas Monkey is worth a mention, and several more a short drive to either the Riverside Mall, 1 km, Ocean Basket is excellent, or Vaal Mall 2.5km with lots of variety The ground are well kept, it is a pleasant walk down to the Vaal river within the grounds, game roams freely around the grounds. An outdoor swimming pool and bar, and a spa all within the hotel grounds. There are several attractions within the resort that will keep the youngster occupied. You do need to hire a car in South Africa, we hired from the airport, it can be daunting driving in and around Johannesburg, keep to the main roads. They drive on left same as UK, awareness is the key to remaining safe, fuel is served to you, I would not recommend any public transport, there are some reputable Taxis but I have seldom used them."

"The lodge was clean, and the staff was very friendly. Traveling with a 9 month old, the staff went the extra mile to ensure that we get a room that accommodates all our needs. The restaurant served the best breakfast. In fact, the food was good all around. "

"We held our “ Bridgeton “ theme High Tea Bachelorette at this beautiful Victorian interior stylish house restaurant. Home made high tea treats were served out of vintage tea cups and plates and were so delicious and too pretty to eat. . Oak View Manor is a beautiful house and has a beautiful big garden with garden seating areas and tables. Thank you for hosting our bridal shower and making it special and memorable."

"I goggle the place before going there, when I got there some of the things were not there like the fridge, when I ask where the mini fridge was because on the internet it shows there is one, I was told information on the internet was old, they haven't updated it yet. I was placed on room 1, the steps are bent needs they must be replaced before someone falls. The reception from the ladies working there was awesome, there are so helpfully, and I could see they like their job; I really liked the breakfast it was delicious. I think they need to work on supper, it was not nice at all, I remember my first night there I was given some veggies and two pieces of chicken and a drink, I mean no.......... how do you charge R300 for that, second night it was worse the beef stew was terrible it wasn't even well cooked more like half cooked, at least my Tuesday supper was eatable. I feel that R300 is way too much for that terrible food (supper), but breakfast was delicious I don't even know how that is possible. Beautiful place with the nicest people who are working there, they are so understanding. "

"I am writing to formally raise a complaint about my recent experience at The Waterfront Country Lodge. During my visit today the 26 February 2026 time 16:30 pm, I ordered a T-bone steak. Upon receiving the meal, I discovered that the steak was rotten. I immediately brought this to the attention of the staff. While the meal was voided, I was not offered a replacement dish or any alternative option. Instead, I was informed that it was the kitchen staff’s lunch time, and as a result, I was left without a meal and had to leave the premises. I find this situation extremely concerning for two reasons: The serious issue of serving spoiled food, which raises health and safety concerns. The lack of appropriate customer service in resolving the matter. I expected that the situation would have been handled more professionally, with an apology and an offer to replace the meal or accommodate me in some way. I kindly request a formal response addressing this matter, including what corrective measures will be implemented to ensure this does not happen again. I look forward to your prompt response. "Norma and Andre are very welcoming and attentive hosts. The same can be said of their staff. Large bedroom. Dining area and bar which overlooks a scenic lake with trees and birds. Great meals. Secure parking behind closed gates. "
