"I visit Shivamogga every year and usually stay at Royal Orchid Central, which has always been a great experience. This year, I decided to try a different hotel—and that turned out to be a mistake. Right after check-in, I noticed there was only one towel in the room. I called housekeeping and requested another, but it took 25 minutes and two follow-up calls to receive it. The situation got worse at night. Around 4:00 AM, there was a power outage for over 30 minutes. The AC stopped working, and when I tried calling reception, even the phone lines were down—completely unacceptable. The next day, we left the room at 9:00 AM, handed over the key card, and specifically requested room cleaning. However, when we returned at 5:30 PM, the room had not been cleaned. After reminding them, it took another 30 minutes, and we had to wait outside the room the entire time. On the day of checkout, I tried calling reception for 30 minutes, but no one answered. Eventually, I had to carry my luggage down myself. When I raised the issue, the staff casually responded that the phone “didn’t ring” or “must have been busy.” Apparently, there is only one reception line for 88 rooms, which explains the poor responsiveness. What was most disappointing was the attitude—despite all these issues, not a single apology was offered. Only excuses. Overall, this was a frustrating experience. I would strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. For anyone visiting Shivamogga, Royal Orchid Central remains a far better and reliable choice."

"We stayed at a small hotel called Mathuga, which is 8 kilometers towards Sagara from Jog Falls, just 500 meters off the main road to the state highway. The hotel has put up some signs at the crossroads, making it easy to identify. They offer various room types, costing approximately ₹3200-4000 for two guests, with or without food. The hotel also has a pool that was decently maintained."
